       BACKGROUND: The use of bibliometric analysis studies allows for the precise assessment of high impact contributions to various fields of study. A bibliometric assessment of academic works cited in filed patents enables tracking the academic studies which have been most influential in development of new technologies in spine surgery.
    METHODS: The Lens database was utilized to retrieve scholarly articles related to the field of spine surgery, with special focus on spinal fusion and biologics. Scholarly works cited in patents were organized by the publishing journal, article topic, study type, publishing institution, and author information. We categorized such publications in terms of their country of origin and, for patents within the US, region of origin.
    RESULTS: The search criteria yielded 37,005 scholarly works related to spine surgery published between 1889-2023 and a total of 947 scholarly works cited in patents from 1968-2023. Many of the top contributing authors were orthopedic surgeons while the top 3 authors were biomedical engineers. The region in the US with the most citations in patents and the most scholarly work overall was the middle-Atlantic region.
    CONCLUSIONS: We assessed trends in spine surgery innovation over time, evaluated regional contributions to spine surgery innovation in the United States and worldwide, and examined the top institutions driving innovation in spine surgery. Our results have historical importance and scientific value insofar as the identified trends and other insights provided by our data may influence future decisions in terms of research efforts and allocation of research funds.

       OBJECTIVE: This study aims to analyze CSF dynamics using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the Bibliometrix R-package software to identify research hotspots and future directions.
    METHODS: Search by Web of Science Core Collection Database for related literature on CSF dynamics from 2013 to 2023. Bibliometric and visual analysis of data on number of citations, number of publications, most productive countries and institutions, important authors and journals, time of publication, popular topics and keywords were performed by CiteSpace and VOSviewer.
    RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: In the field of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics, there is an observable upward trend in annual publications. The United States, Japan, and Germany rank as the top three countries in terms of publication output. Copenhagen University, Idaho University, and Zurich University are the leading institutions in terms of research publications.The most frequently published literature over the past decade is "Coupled electrophysiological, hemodynamic, and cerebrospinal fluid oscillations in human sleep." The most prolific authors in this field are Martin and Bryn. Active authors have formed several stable research teams, indicating collaboration, which could benefit from further enhancement across different teams.Key research keywords such as cerebrospinal fluid, hydrocephalus, dynamics, brain, flow, cerebrospinal-fluid, pressure, CSF flow, MRI highlight the focal areas in CSF dynamics research. These keywords represent both the current focus and forefront of research in this field.

      This review was performed to analyze the research on cervical spondylotic myelopathy published during the past 25 years, summarize the developments in existing research, and predict future hotspots in the field. The goal is to provide a comprehensive overview and exploration of developments in this research area. A bibliometric analysis was performed using CiteSpace and VOSviewer to quantitatively and visually analyze relevant literature from Web of Science between 1998 and 2023. Co-occurrence analysis and co-citation analysis were conducted to evaluate papers, authors, journals, countries, and keywords. In total, 1,886 papers were included. The overall publication output in this field increased throughout the review period. Stable author collaboration groups were formed, with the most influential author being Fehlings MG. Japan and the United States contributed the highest number of publications. The predicted future research hotspots include risk factor analysis, outcome prediction, and machine learning. This study provides both an overview of the research trajectory in the field of cervical spondylotic myelopathy for scholars interested in this area, as well as offering insights and references for future research directions in the field.

       Objectives: To characterize the bibliometric characteristics of the global scientific production of original research on gasless laparoscopy in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) platform.
    Materials and methods: A bibliometric study of original articles published up to the year 2023 was carried out. Articles were included following the selection criteria in the Rayyan web application, indexed in the Scopus database. The bibliometric analysis was performed using the Bibliometrix program in the R programming language and VOSviewer. The bibliometric characteristics evaluated were articles, journals, citations, publications, ten most mentioned articles, journals with the highest number of publications, authors and institutional affiliations; and cooccurrence of terms.
    Results: A total of 223 publications were included, with the highest number of articles being published in the years 1999 and 2014. The publication with the most citations was found to be a randomized trial by Galizia G in 2001 with 132 citations. We identified 846 authors involved in the production of articles on gasless laparoscopy, with Nakamura H being the most productive author with 15 articles between the years 2007 and 2020, followed by Takeda A and Imoto S, all three affiliated with "Gifu Prefectural Tajimi Hospital". The country with the highest production was Japan with 64 publications, followed by China and Italy with 46 and 18 publications, respectively. In the top 10 journals with the highest number of publications, "Surgical Endoscopy-Ultrasound and Interventional Techniques" is in first place with 20 articles published on gasless laparoscopy; in addition, most of these are located in Q1 and Q2. Regarding the terms or keywords, it was found that the initial studies had terms related to the disadvantages of pneumoperitoneum and later focused on more specific topics of the application of gasless laparoscopy.
    Conclusions: Production on gasless laparoscopy has stagnated, with the topics of interest currently being its application in new, less invasive techniques. The most productive countries are found in the Asian and European continents, with little information collected in Latin America. This fact makes it necessary to increase the production of studies to promote this technique and its possible advantages.

       AIMS: To analyse the bibliometric data of nursing journals covering general fields, specializations, skills and practices and investigate the influence of selection factors on the one-year improved SCImago journal rank (SJR).
    DESIGN: A bibliometric analysis.
    METHODS: The study sample included academic journals in the field of nursing indexed in the Scopus and SJR database using data from 2020 to 2022. Quantile regression were performed that investigated the influence factors over the one-year improved SJR when variables were found to be non-normally distributed, characterized by extremely high kurtosis.
    RESULTS: Results from 539 nursing journals retrieved from the Scopus and SCImago databases revealed that citation index remains the main factor that positively affects differences in SJR, while citable articles only affect the early stages of quantile regression. In addition, an excessively high number of research articles may negatively affect SJR, and the influence of self-citations can initially be positive but become negative the following year. Citations continue to be the dominant factor, while the rapid growth in the number of articles and self-citations must be addressed with caution.

       Background and objective: Extracellular adenosine (eAdo) bridges tumor metabolism and immune regulation. CD39-CD73-eAdo/A2aR axis regulates tumor microenvironment (TME) and immunotherapy response. In the era of immunotherapy, exploring the impact of the CD39-CD73-eAdo/A2aR axis on TME and developing targeted therapeutic drugs to enhance the efficacy of immunotherapy are the current research hotspots. This study summarizes and explores the research trends and hotspots of the adenosine axis in the field of TME to provide ideas for further in-depth research.
    Methods: Literature information was obtained from the Web of Science core collection database. The VOS viewer and the bibliometric tool based on R were used to quantify and identify cooperation information and individual influence by analyzing the detailed information of the global annual publication volume, country/region and institution distribution, article authors and co-cited authors, and journal distribution of these articles. At the same time, the distribution of author keywords and the co-occurrence of author keywords, highly cited articles, and highly co-cited references of CD39-CD73-eAdo/A2aR in the field of TME were analyzed to determine research hotspots and trends.
    Result: 1,721 articles published in the past ten years were included in this study. Through bibliometric analysis, we found that (1) 69 countries and regions explored the effect of the CD39-CD73-eAdo/A2aR on TME, and the research was generally on the rise. Researchers in the United States dominated research in this area, with the highest total citation rate. China had the most significant number of publications. (2) Harvard University has published the most articles in this field. (3) 12,065 authors contributed to the publication of papers in this field, of which 23 published at least eight papers. STAGG J had significant academic influence, with 24 published articles and 2,776 citations. Co-cited authors can be clustered into three categories. Stagg J, Allard B, Ohta A, and Antonioli, L occupied a central position in the network. (4) 579 scholarly journals have published articles in this field. The journal FRONTIERS IN IMMUNOLOGY published the most significant number of papers, with 97 articles and a total of 2,317 citations, and the number of publications increased year by year. (5) "The ectonucleotidases CD39 and CD73: Novel checkpoint inhibitor targets" was the most frequently local cited article (163 times). The "A2A adenosine receptor protects tumors from antitumor T cells" was the most co-cited reference (224 times). (6) Through the analysis of author keywords, we found that the relationship between adenosine and immunotherapy was a core concept for many researchers in this field. Breast cancer, melanoma, colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer, glioblastoma, pancreatic cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and lung cancer were the most frequent cancer types in adenosine-related tumor studies. Immunotherapy, immunosuppression, immune checkpoint, and immune checkpoint inhibitors were the hot keywords in the research, reflecting the importance of the adenosine metabolic pathway in tumor immunotherapy. The keywords such as Immunogenic cell death, T cells, Sting, regulatory T cells, innate immunity, and immune infiltration demonstrated the pathways by which adenosine affected the TME. The famous author keywords in recent years have been immunotherapy, immunogenic cell death, inflammation, lung cancer, and gastric cancer.
    Conclusion: The effect of CD39-CD73-eAdo/A2aR on the infiltration and function of various immune cells in TME, tumor immunotherapy response, and patient prognosis has attracted the attention of researchers from many countries/regions. American scholars still dominate the research in this field, but Chinese scholars produce the most research results. The journal FRONTIERS IN IMMUNOLOGY has published the wealthiest research in the field. Stagg J was a highly influential researcher in this field. Further exploration of targeted inhibition of CD39-CD73-eAdo/A2aR alone or in combination with other immunotherapy, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy in treating various cancer types and developing effective clinical therapeutic drugs are continuous research hotspots in this field.

       Background: Cancer immunotherapy has made significant progress in recent years, with numerous studies worldwide. Immunotherapy has had a transformative impact on oncology and autoimmune diseases. In the biomedical arena, hydrogels with good properties are widely used in cancer immunotherapy. Our study used bibliometrics to analyze the changing trends in using hydrogels for cancer immunotherapy.
    Methods: From 2013 to 2023, a systematic search was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection database to identify reviews and articles discussing the applications of hydrogels in cancer immunotherapy. The software CiteSpace was used to visually perform the bibliometric analysis in terms of research trends, countries, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords. Individual authors' productivity was assessed with the Lotka's law. The most relevant publication sources were identified by Bradford's law.
    Results: A total of 422 English-language publications related to hydrogels in cancer immunotherapy were collected. The number of annual publications increased rapidly after 2021 and remained constant for the past two years. China published the most articles in this field. The institution with the maximum number of published articles was the Chinese Academy of Sciences in China. Chen. Q was the most prolific author, and Liu. Z was the second most published author. In terms of journal contributions, the journal "Biomaterials" had the highest number of publications (n = 30). Biomaterials, Advanced Functional Materials and Journal of Controlled Release were the most influential journals. Keyword analysis revealed that cancer immunotherapy, drug delivery, immunogenic cell death, tumor microenvironment, injectable hydrogels, and immune checkpoint blockade were the primary research hotspots. In recent 3 years, adoptive T-cell therapy, black phosphorus, cell capture, adaptive cell therapy, tumor microenvironment, photodynamic therapy, and sustained release were the research hotspots in this field. Our study summarizes the objective of hydrogels in cancer immunotherapy in recent years, providing a reference for potential researchers in related field.
    Conclusion: This bibliometric analysis shows the progress and trend of research on hydrogels in cancer immunotherapy. This study provides a significant avenue for future investigation into current concerns and trends in research within this field.

      Background: The field of pancreas transplantation has undergone transformative phases, progressing from its promising inception in 1966 to becoming a standard treatment for patients with insulin-dependent diabetes. This bibliometric analysis explores the progression of pancreas transplantation research over a period of four decades, mapping milestones, contributors, and emerging trends. Methods: Our bibliometric analysis utilizes the comprehensive Scopus database, which includes publication titles, author information, affiliations, abstracts, keywords, and journal details. The search strategy was centered on research related to pancreas and pancreas-kidney transplantation. The analysis encompasses the time frame spanning from 1983 to 2023, with the data extraction taking place on October 7th, 2023. Results: The analysis of 4,897 articles uncovered unique trends in the field of pancreas transplantation research. The years 1989, 1996, and 2021 saw significant increases in the number of publications, which corresponded to the responses to clinical challenges and advancements. Contributions by authors from the United States of America were the most numerous, with 1,905 publications and 49,949 citations. The research topics were highlighted by keywords such as "graft survival," "graft rejection," and" Immunosuppressive treatment." Conclusion: The fluctuations in publication trends that have been identified indicate dynamic reactions to changing priorities and challenges. Although it has limitations, this analysis provides valuable insights for researchers, clinicians, and policymakers who are dealing with the complex field of pancreas transplantation literature. Further bibliometric research may advance our knowledge and direct future initiatives in this developing field.

      Increasing research efforts are focused on studying the synthesis and mechanisms of nanomedicine in urologic cancer. We performed a bibliometric study of the literature on nanomedicine in urologic cancer over the last 23 years, focusing on aspects such as researchers, institutions, nations, and keywords. We searched for papers in the Web of Science Core Collection from January 1, 2001, to December 29, 2023. Only reviews and original articles written in English were considered. A total of 2386 papers satisfied the given criteria for inclusion. The publications included in the study originated from 90 nations. The United States had the largest number of published papers, accounting for more than 31.01% of the total. The leading institution in this field is the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with a publishing output of 2.35%. Farokhzad, Omid C., is the most prolific author, with 21 articles, and has garnered the most citations, totaling 6271. The latest phrase to enter the top ten most common lists was "gold nanoparticles." We searched for papers in the Web of Science Core Collection from January 1, 2000, to November 28, 2023. Only reviews and original articles written in English were considered. This is the first bibliometric study of nanomedicine in urologic cancer. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the current state of research on nanomedicine in urologic cancer over the last 23 years. On the basis of this study, future researchers can identify noteworthy publications, journals, and potential collaborators and explore cutting-edge research directions.

       BACKGROUND: Multiple sclerosis is a common inflammatory neurological disease among young adults and is the tenth leading cause of the global burden of disease. Existing common treatments such as pharmacological and palliative therapies do not control the neurodegenerative process or cure multiple sclerosis. Numerous epidemiological surveys, randomised controlled trials, and systematic reviews with meta-analyses support the effects of physical activity on health-related outcomes among patients with multiple sclerosis. Moreover, bibliometric analysis can provide a broad evidence synthesis beyond systematic reviews and meta-analyses, allowing researchers and other stakeholders to obtain a one-stop overview of this research field. Therefore, this bibliometric analysis aims to provide insight into the knowledge structure of the field of physical activity for multiple sclerosis over the past three decades, and to predict emerging research trends.
    METHODS: This study strictly complied with step-by-step guidelines of bibliometric analysis, combining performance analysis and science mapping. Four indexes from the Web of Science Core Collection were selected as data sources, and articles and review articles in the field of physical activity for multiple sclerosis from 1994 to 2023 were included in this analysis. Mircrosoft Excel, RStudio, VOSviewer 1.6.20, and CiteSpace 6.3.R1 (64-bit) Advanced were used to perform performance analysis and science mapping.
    RESULTS: Over the past three decades, this field published a total of 1,271 documents, with the scientific output showing a rapid upward trend over the past two decades. Robbert W Motl was the most prolific author in this field, with a total of 300 publications. The USA contributed nearly half of the publications in this field (549 documents), and the University of Illinois System was the institution with the highest number of publications (222 documents). Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders was the journal that published the highest number of documents in this field (117 documents), while more than a third of this field's publications were included in the category: Clinical Neurology (438 documents). The Reference co-citation analysis identified three main research trends, including shifts in research methodology, changes in health outcomes in randomised controlled trials, and shifts in different types of physical activity interventions. Combining the results from reference co-citation analysis and citation burst analysis, the combination of behaviour change technique and telerehabilitation may be the emerging research trend.
    CONCLUSION: This bibliometric analysis identifies rapid growth in the field of physical activity for multiple sclerosis over the past two decades. Moreover, the combination of performance analysis and science mapping provides insight into knowledge structure in this field and informed future research trends for researchers and the relevant stakeholders.

      Cultural teaching is the underlying core component of English as Foreign Language (EFL) education. Although the previous literature has intensely studied this theme, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of research characteristics and trends in this field is still lacking regarding cultural teaching in EFL education. This study aims to explore the research distribution, research hot topics, and research the trends of EFL cultural teaching by conducting a bibliometric analysis of 358 articles on Web of Science using CiteSpace. The analysis leads to the following three findings: (a) The countries that teach EFL prevail in terms of number of publications but lag behind in terms of research influence, and a global academic community has not taken shape. (b) Interculturality is the central theme, encompassing a range of related topics such as intercultural competence, intercultural communication, and cultural awareness, with key teachers, learners, and textbooks as research perspectives. (c) Multilingual turn has emerged as a prominent new trend, which emphasizes the importance of cultural diversity and pays more attention to source/native languages and cultures. Furthermore, possible measures of promoting interculturality were discussed on the basis of relevant literature studies. In addition, scholars are suggested to pay more academic attention to the research and practices of EFL countries.

       OBJECTIVES: To investigate the current state of article usage metrics in orthodontics.
    MATERIALS AND METHODS: Out of all orthodontic journals listed in Journal Citation Reports 2022, the European Journal of Orthodontics and The Angle Orthodontist fulfilled the inclusion criteria. All journal issues published in 2021 were scrutinized for original research articles and systematic reviews/meta-analyses, and the following features were collected: article type, subject, title, number of words and authors, Altmetric Attention Score (AAS), X (formerly Twitter) posts, and Mendeley reads. Article citations, number of publications, and h-index of the last authors were retrieved from Web of Science (WoS).
    RESULTS: 181 articles were considered eligible. The median number of views and downloads of included articles was 1296 (range: 355-10,233) and 793 (range: 167-3629). Page views, downloads, and total views were significantly correlated with WoS citations (rho > 0.345; P < .001). There was no correlation between usage metrics, AAS, X posts, and Mendeley reads. Number of downloads were significantly higher in studies dealing with new technologies, and where the last author had 1-40 publications or an h-index of 0-30.
    CONCLUSIONS: Page views, downloads, and total views were positively correlated with WoS citations and, therefore, may serve as an early estimate of future citations. Significant variations in article downloads may be expected in relation to article subject, scientific productivity, and impact of the last authors.

       Introduction: With depression's growing global prevalence and substantial impact, effective prevention and management strategies are imperative. Our study aims to perform a thorough bibliometric analysis of existing research on the impact of exercise on depression.
    Methods: A comprehensive analysis of Web of Science Core Collection publications from 2000 to 2020 was performed, highlighting trends, themes, and influential authors. The study focused on subject categories, source journals, countries/regions, institutions, and prolific authors. Co-citation and keyword analyses revealed key themes, hotspots and the thematic evolution.
    Results: The multidisciplinary nature of this research is evident across psychiatry, psychology, neuroscience, and sports science. Specific populations such as women, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses were targeted. Mind-body exercises like yoga and tai chi gained prominence. Co-citation clusters showcased the evolution from early investigations on exercise's impact to recent dose-response and protocol studies.
    Conclusions: This bibliometric analysis provides insights into the dynamic field of exercise interventions for depression. It underscores the importance of individual differences, calls for guidelines considering comorbidities, and points towards future directions such as exploring mind-body exercise mechanisms and well-designed clinical trials. This study contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the research landscape and informs future endeavors aimed at refining depression treatment through exercise interventions.

       Objective: A bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer and CiteSpace to examine studies published between 2009 and 2023 on the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
    Methods: On March 24, 2024, a computer search was conducted on the Web of Science (WOS) core collection dataset published between January 1, 2009, and December 30, 2023, to identify literature related to the application of artificial intelligence in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). VOSviewer was utilized for visual analysis of countries, institutions, authors, co-cited authors, and keywords. CiteSpace was employed to analyze the intermediary centrality of institutions, references, keyword outbreaks, and co-cited literature. Relevant descriptive analysis tables were created using Excel2021 software.
    Results: This study included a total of 646 papers from WOS. The number of papers remained small and stable from 2009 to 2017 but started increasing significantly annually since 2018. The United States had the highest number of publications among countries/regions while Silverman Edwin K and Harvard Medical School were the most prolific authors and institutions respectively. Lynch DA, Kirby M. and Vestbo J. were among the top three most cited authors overall. Scientific Reports had the largest number of publications while Radiology ranked as one of the top ten influential journals. The Genetic Epidemiology of COPD (COPDGene) Study Design was frequently cited. Through keyword clustering analysis, all keywords were categorized into four groups: epidemiological study of COPD; AI-assisted imaging diagnosis; AI-assisted diagnosis; and AI-assisted treatment and prognosis prediction in the COPD research field. Currently, hot research topics include explainable artificial intelligence framework, chest CT imaging, and lung radiomics.
    Conclusion: At present, AI is predominantly employed in genetic biology, early diagnosis, risk staging, efficacy evaluation, and prediction modeling of COPD. This study's results offer novel insights and directions for future research endeavors related to COPD.

       AIM: The objective of this study was to visually analyse global research trends and hotspots regarding the role of PM2.5 in ischemic stroke.
    METHODS: The Web of Science core collection database was used to search the literature on PM2.5 and ischemic stroke from 2006 to 2024. Visualization analysis was conducted using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and an online bibliometric platform.
    RESULTS: The analysis comprises 190 articles published between 2006 and 2024 by 1229 authors from 435 institutions in 39 countries, across 78 journals. Wellenius GA has the highest number of published and cited papers. China has the highest number of papers, while Canada has the highest citation frequency. Capital Medical University published the highest number of papers, and Harvard University had the highest citation frequency for a single paper. The study investigated the impact of PM2.5 on ischemic stroke in three phases. The first phase analysed hospitalisation rates for correlations. The second phase utilised large-scale multi-cohort data from around the world. The third phase involved studying global exposure risk through machine learning and model construction. Currently, there is limited research on the mechanisms involved, and further in-depth investigation is required.
    CONCLUSION: This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of the research framework and hotspots concerning the effect of PM2.5 on ischemic stroke. The analysis aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of this field for researchers. It is expected that research on the effect of PM2.5 on ischemic stroke will remain an important research topic in the future.

       PURPOSE: This study aims to review the last 50 years of academic research on collective leadership (CL) and how far it has progressed by using the Scopus database and the science mapping technique of bibliometric analysis.
    DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: This study has analysed 417 publications from the Scopus database on collective leadership from 1967 to 2023. Data were analysed using MS Excel and VOSviewer.
    FINDINGS: There has been research from different parts of the world on the various aspects of collective leadership. In recent years, collective leadership research has gained momentum. However, collective leadership is still at a nascent level when it comes to the applicability of the concepts. So far, the research on collective leadership has relied on themes such as shared leadership and distributed leadership, how collective leadership differs from other similar-looking leadership styles such as transformational leadership, and how this influences followers' outcomes such as team effectiveness, achievements, relations, commitment, etc. Most of the research so far has been done in the United States of America, the UK and the Australian context. There exists a huge gap for studying collective leadership in African, Middle Eastern and Asian contexts.
    RESEARCH LIMITATIONS/IMPLICATIONS: Collective leadership research trends may be addressed to enable academics and practitioners to better understand current and future trends and research directions. Future studies in this field might use the findings as a starting point to highlight the nature of the topic.
    ORIGINALITY/VALUE: Bibliometric techniques provide a far more comprehensive and reliable picture of the field. This article has the potential to serve as a one-stop resource for researchers and practitioners seeking information that can aid in transdisciplinary endeavours by leading them to recognized, peer-reviewed papers, journals and networks.

       Background: Traumatic injuries, surgery, and chronic diseases lead to soft tissue wounds. Stimulating normal wound healing (WH) is important for tissue repair and restoration of homeostasis. Lack of angiogenesis impedes wound healing and is noted in chronic wounds. The goal of this investigation was to thoroughly assess the present state and patterns of investigations on angiogenesis in WH by the use of bibliometric analysis.
    Methods: Studies examining angiogenesis and WH were sourced from the database of the Web of Science Core Collection. Only studies that fulfilled the inclusion criteria were chosen for the purpose of investigation. To analyze the publications included in this research, bibliometric and visual analysis techniques were applied utilizing tools like VOSviewer and CiteSpace.
    Results: For the analysis, 11,558 papers were considered. The number of publications increased annually from 2013 to 2023. China, the USA, and South Korea were the top nations in this subject, accounting for 41.1 %, 19.4 %, and 5.8 % of published articles, respectively. The author and institution with the greatest number of publications were found to be Chang J and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. PLOS One had the greatest publication count among journals, whereas Biomaterials had the greatest number of citations and was often mentioned in co-citations. Angiogenesis-related biomedical engineering and tissue engineering were the topics that received the most research attention. Recent studies have focused on vascular endothelial growth factor and carboxymethyl chitosan as emerging areas of interest.
    Conclusion: In this investigation, we compiled the features of publications and determined the most impactful nations, organizations, writers, periodicals, popular subjects, and patterns concerning the process of angiogenesis in the context of WH.

       Background: The Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) is among the most extensively utilised foundational frameworks in implementation science. It was developed from 33 psychological theories, with the latest version identifying 14 domains encompassing 84 theoretical constructs. These domains and constructs capture the complexity of factors that affect behaviours, making the framework a valuable tool for designing and implementing interventions within health and social care settings.
    Objective: To summarise the development, hot topics, and future trends in TDF-related research and provide implementation practitioners with more information on the application of TDF.
    Methods: We used TDF as the topic and searched the ISI Web of Science Core Collection, identifying 1382 relevant publications. We used analytical tools such as Excel, Tableau, VOSviewer, and Citespace to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the relevant publication.
    Results: We identified the United Kingdom as the primary contributor, with University College London as the key institution. Susan Michie ranked highest in total citations. The analysis highlighted cancer and stroke as primary clinic medicine-related topics using TDF. Emerging themes encompass abuse, violence, maternal health, antenatal care, patient involvement, and trauma-informed care et al. "Nurse" and "qualitative research" emerged as recent and enduring hotspots, possibly indicating future research trends.
    Conclusion: This article represents the first attempt to summarise the TDF using bibliometric analysis. We suggest this method can be used to analyse other theoretical frameworks in scientific implementation of its objectivity and quantifiability. Overall, the application scope of TDF is shifting from public health towards more specialised clinical directions, although its application in the field of public health is continuously expanding. In the future, the number of users of TDF is also expected to expand from implementation scientists to professional technical personnel.

       Background: Exosomes in cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have attracted huge attention with substantial value and potential. Our bibliometrics is based on literature from the field of cardiovascular exosomes over the past 30 years, which has been visualized to display the development process, research hotspots, and cutting-edge trends of clinical practices, mechanisms, and management strategies related to psych cardiology.
    Methods: We selected articles and reviews on exosomes in CVDs from the core collection of Web of Science, and generated visual charts by using CiteSpace and VOSviewer software.
    Results: Our research included 1613 publications. The number of exosome articles in CVD fluctuates slightly, but overall shows an increasing trend. The main research institutions were Tongji University and Nanjing Medical University. The International Journal of Molecular Sciences has the highest publication volume, while the Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine has the highest citation count. Among all the authors, Eduardo Marban ranks first in terms of publication volume and H-index. The most common keywords are exosome, extracellular vesicles, and angiogenesis.
    Conclusion: This is a bibliometric study on the research hotspots and trends of exosomes in CVD. Exosome research in the field of cardiovascular medicine is on the rise. Some exosome treatment methods may become the focus of future research.

      Interleukin-18 (IL-18) is a vital pro-inflammatory cytokine crucial for immune regulation. Despite its significance, bibliometric analysis in this field is lacking. This study aims to quantitatively and qualitatively assess IL-18 research to construct its intellectual base and predict future hotspots. We conducted a thorough search on the Web of Science Core Collection for relevant publications between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2022. English-language articles and reviews were included. Visual analysis was performed using various tools including VOSviewer, Citespace, and Microsoft Excel. Our analysis covers interleukin-18 (IL-18) literature from 2012 to 2022, exploring research trends comprehensively. Key institutions like Yale University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University emerged as significant contributors. Prolific authors such as Kanneganti and Dinarello made notable contributions. Main focus areas included biology, medicine, and immunology. Co-citation analysis highlighted influential works like Jianjin Shi. Hotspot keyword frequency cluster analysis revealed emerging themes like pyroptosis and psoriasis. Gene co-occurrence clustering identified genes associated with immune regulation and inflammation. GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis provided insights into IL-18-related biological processes and pathways. Protein-protein interaction networks identified core proteins such as IL10 and TNF. Association disease analysis linked IL-18 to various inflammatory, autoimmune, and metabolic disorders. This bibliometric review offers insights into IL-18 research trends over the past decade, guiding future investigations and serving as a reference for researchers in this field.

       INTRODUCTION: Pelvic organ prolapse is a common condition in middle-aged and older women. Laparoscopic pelvic floor surgery is frequently researched as a treatment for this issue. However, the effectiveness of this procedure has only been the subject of a few studies.
    METHODS: To quantitatively evaluate and display the relevant literature from the Web of Science database, we set the publication period of the literature from 1996 to 2022 and used VOSviewer and CiteSpace for visual analysis.
    RESULTS: Laparoscopic pelvic floor surgery research has increased year-on-year, with 1003 publications identified from 63 countries and published in 210 journals. In the global ranking of studies, the United States was the leader (n = 306; 30.5 %), with the most published authors being Campagna, Giuseppe (n = 17) and Scambia, Giovanni (n = 17). The International urogynecology journal included the most significant articles (n = 173; 17.2 %). Keyword analysis suggests that complications, rectal prolapse, native tissue repair, and warranty may have become hotspots in recent years.
    CONCLUSIONS: This bibliometric study shows that the depth and breadth of research on pelvic floor laparoscopic surgery have expanded rapidly over the last twenty-five years and that laparoscopic surgery has been recognized by different scholars or countries as an essential modality for the treatment of pelvic floor organ prolapse.

      A bibliometric study to analyze the scientific documents released until 2024 in the database Scopus related to the use of pressure-driven membrane technologies (microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis) for heavy metal removal was conducted. The work aimed to assess the primary quantitative attributes of the research in this field during the specified period. A total of 2205 documents were identified, and the corresponding analysis indicated an exponential growth in the number of publications over time. The contribution of the three most productive countries (China, India and USA) accounts for more than 47.1% of the total number of publications, with Chinese institutions appearing as the most productive ones. Environmental Science was the most frequent knowledge category (51.9% contribution), followed by Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The relative frequency of the keywords and a complete bibliometric network analysis allowed the conclusion that the low-pressure technologies (microfiltration and ultrafiltration) have been more deeply investigated than the high-pressure technologies (nanofiltration and reverse osmosis). Although porous low-pressure membranes are not adequate for the removal of dissolved heavy metals in ionic forms, the incorporation of embedded adsorbents within the membrane structure and the use of auxiliary chemicals to form metallic complexes or micelles that can be retained by this type of membrane are promising approaches. High-pressure membranes can achieve rejection percentages above 90% (99% in the case of reverse osmosis), but they imply lower permeate productivity and higher costs due to the required pressure gradients.

      The development of computer technology has revolutionized how people live and interact in society. The Internet of Things (IoT) has enabled the development of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) to transform healthcare delivery. Artificial intelligence has been used to improve the IoMT. Despite the significance of bibliometric analysis in a research area, to the best of the authors' knowledge, based on searches conducted in academic databases, no bibliometric analysis on artificial intelligence (AI) for the IoMT has been conducted. To address this gap, this study proposes performing a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of AI applications in the IoMT. A bibliometric analysis of top literature sources, main disciplines, countries, prolific authors, trending topics, authorship, citations, author-keywords, and co-keywords was conducted. In addition, the structural development of AI in the IoMT highlights its growing popularity. This study found that security and privacy issues are serious concerns hindering the massive adoption of the IoMT. Future research directions on the IoMT, including perspectives on artificial general intelligence, generative artificial intelligence, and explainable artificial intelligence, have been outlined and discussed.

      There is substantial evidence from clinical and preclinical studies suggesting an association between metformin use and a reduced risk of cancer. However, the effects of metformin use on cancers have not yet been subjected to bibliometric analysis. The goal of this study was to explore the potential effects of metformin use on cancers and to conduct a comprehensive assessment of research hotspots related to the use of metformin on cancers. The results of the literature analysis were visualized using various tools such as Adobe Illustrator CC 2018, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometric." The average annual publications from 2013 to 2023 was 372. In terms of journals and co-cited journals, a total of 1,064 journals published 1958 papers, and Oncotarget published the highest number of papers (n = 153, 7.81%), while Cancer Research (Co-citation = 5,125) was the most frequently cited journal. A total of 25,665 authors participated in the research on metformin use on cancers. Metformin has demonstrated improved outcomes in various types of cancer, including breast cancer (BC), lung cancer (LC), colorectal cancer (CRC), prostate cancer (PC), and pancreatic cancer. This bibliometric analysis reviews the current literature on the clinical data on metformin use on cancers and describes the preclinical evidence illustrating the potential mechanisms of metformin use on various cancers directly or indirectly.

      (1) Background: There is increasing interest in the use of platelet-rich plasma and related orthobiologics for the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal disorders in horses; however, there is no information on the bibliometric impact of the literature published in this area. (2) Methods: A bibliometric analysis was performed using the bibliometrix R package by analyzing the documents registered in the WOS and Scopus databases from 2000 to 2024. The included registers were evaluated according to the menu of results from the biblioshiny web app (overview, sources, authors, documents, words, trending topics, clustering, conceptual structure, and social structure). (3) Conclusions: The documents produced were mainly published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science, Journal of Equine Veterinary Science, BMC Veterinary Research, and the American Journal of Veterinary Research). The most productive institutions were Universidad de Caldas, Colorado State University, University of California-Davis, and University of Leipzig, and the most productive countries were the USA, Brazil, and Colombia. Horse, platelet-rich plasma, equine, osteoarthritis, and autologous conditioned serum were the most frequently used keywords. The trending topics in this area are platelet lysates and orthobiologics. The collaboration network of authors, institutions, and countries shows an isolated development of individual author networks with modest collaboration between institutions and countries.

      While breast cancer treatments have advanced significantly nowadays, yet metastatic, especially triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), remains challenging with low survival. Cancer immunotherapy, a promising approach for HER2-positive and TNBC, still faces resistance hurdles. Recently, numerous studies have set their sights on the resistance of immunotherapy for breast cancer. Our study provides a thorough comprehension of the current research landscape, hotspots, and emerging breakthroughs in this critical area through a meticulous bibliometric analysis. As of March 26, 2024, a total of 1341 articles on immunology resistance in breast cancer have been gathered from Web of Science Core Collection, including 765 articles and 576 reviews. Bibliometrix, CiteSpace and VOSviewer software were utilized to examine publications and citations per year, prolific countries, contributive institutions, high-level journals and scholars, as well as highly cited articles, references and keywords. The research of immunotherapy resistance in breast cancer has witnessed a remarkable surge over the past seven years. The United States and China have made significant contributions, with Harvard Medical School being the most prolific institution and actively engaging in collaborations. The most contributive author is Curigliano, G from the European Institute of Oncology in Italy, while Wucherpfennig, K. W. from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the USA, had the highest citations. Journals highly productive primarily focus on clinical, immunology and oncology research. Common keywords include "resistance", "expression", "tumor microenvironment", "cancer", "T cell", "therapy", "chemotherapy" and "cell". Current research endeavors to unravel the mechanisms of immune resistance in breast cancer through the integration of bioinformatics, basic experiments, and clinical trials. Efforts are underway to develop strategies that improve the effectiveness of immunotherapy, including the exploration of combination therapies and advancements in drug delivery systems. Additionally, there is a strong focus on identifying novel biomarkers that can predict patient response to immunology.        Background: The emergence of nanotechnology has injected new vigor into vaccine research. Nanovaccine research has witnessed exponential growth in recent years; yet, a comprehensive analysis of related publications has been notably absent.
    Objective: This study utilizes bibliometric methodologies to reveal the evolution of themes and the distribution of nanovaccine research.
    Methods: Using tools such as VOSviewer, CiteSpace, Scimago Graphica, Pajek, R-bibliometrix, and R packages for the bibliometric analysis and visualization of literature retrieved from the Web of Science database.
    Results: Nanovaccine research commenced in 1981. The publication volume exponentially increased, notably in 2021. Leading contributors include the United States, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the "Vaccine", and researcher Zhao Kai. Other significant contributors comprise China, the University of California, San Diego, Veronique Preat, the Journal of Controlled Release, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The USA functions as a central hub for international cooperation. Financial support plays a pivotal role in driving research advancements. Key themes in highly cited articles include vaccine carrier design, cancer vaccines, nanomaterial properties, and COVID-19 vaccines. Among 7402 keywords, the principal nanocarriers include Chitosan, virus-like particles, gold nanoparticles, PLGA, and lipid nanoparticles. Nanovaccine is primarily intended to address diseases including SARS-CoV-2, cancer, influenza, and HIV. Clustering analysis of co-citation networks identifies 9 primary clusters, vividly illustrating the evolution of research themes over different periods. Co-citation bursts indicate that cancer vaccines, COVID-19 vaccines, and mRNA vaccines are pivotal areas of focus for current and future research in nanovaccines.        BACKGROUND: Sepsis-associated liver injury (SLI) is a severe and prevalent complication of sepsis.
    AIM: To explore the literature on SLI via a bibliometric approach.
    METHODS: Reviews and articles correlated with SLI published from January 1, 2000 to October 28, 2023 were searched from the Web of Science Core Collection. Then, the searched data were analyzed using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and R language.
    RESULTS: There were 787 publications involved in this paper, comprising 745 articles and 42 reviews. China, the United States, and Germany are the primary publication sources in this area. Studies related to SLI primarily focused on mechanisms of pathogenesis, as evidenced by analyzing keywords, references, and the counting of original research. These studies mainly involved tumor necrosis factor alpha, inflammation, oxidative stress, and nuclear factor-kappa B.
    CONCLUSION: There is significant growth in the research on SLI. Current investigations primarily involve basic experiments that aimed at uncovering pathogenic mechanisms. According to the analyzed literature, the identified pathogenic mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets serve as the foundation for translating findings from basic research to clinical applications.

       Background and Aim: Dogs can detect specific cancer odors with their exceptional sense of smell. This study aimed to conduct a scientometric analysis of canine olfactory detection in oncology, identifying trends, visualizations, and patterns.
    Materials and Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted using a quantitative-scientometric approach. Scopus was comprehensively searched using terms related to canine olfactory detection in oncology. Documents indexed in Scival software (Elsevier) and published between 2013 and 2022 were included.
    Results: Claire M. Guest, Rob Harris, and Giuseppe Lippi authored significant academic work. Journals such as Journal of Breath Research and PLoS One rank highly in publications and citations due to significant citation ratios, according to CiteScore's quartile-based impact analysis. According to Lotka's and Bradford's laws, a small group of authors and the Journal of Breath Research, respectively, dominate production in their fields.
    Conclusion: This analysis forms a solid base for future research on canine olfactory detection in oncology. The collaborative essence of this multidisciplinary field is emphasized by the key contributors and identified patterns, with journals in the Q1 and Q2 quartiles of CiteScore holding significant importance.

       Background: Dental pulp regeneration aims to restore the function and vitality of the dental pulp, which is the soft tissue inside the tooth. Research in this field is effective in trying to improve clinical practices and procedures. This study aimed to analyze the literature related to dental pulp regeneration and to create a documented research perspective for this field.
    Materials and Methods: This bibliometric study analyzes the research outputs of the subject area of dental pulp regeneration indexed in the Web of Science database between 2013 and 2023. SciMAT software was used to visualize and predict the trends in research on the topic.
    Results: In general, it has been observed that the stem cell cluster consistently had the highest number of articles across all periods. As we progressed through time, the significance of this cluster continued to grow, eventually becoming a crucial component in the motor theme during the last period. In addition, a significant portion of the studies conducted during different periods focused on identifying suitable materials for scaffold formation. Various materials, including polymers and bioactive glasses, were proposed as viable options for scaffold formation in different periods.
    Conclusion: Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs), scaffold networks, growth factors, and regulatory factors are the three main factors that influence dental pulp regeneration. By analyzing maps and thematic clusters in dental pulp regeneration research, as well as considering indicators such as repetition frequency, centrality, and citation of these clusters, researchers can identify the strengths, weaknesses, and gaps in current research.

       Introduction: Vitamin D has a significant correlation with type 2 diabetes. Insufficient levels of vitamin D can cause insulin resistance, which impairs the ability of cells to respond to insulin and worsens the progression of diseases. Furthermore, vitamin D has the potential to enhance the release of insulin, enhance the regulation of blood sugar levels, and reduce the glycemic index. Research has indicated that insufficient levels of vitamin D may elevate the likelihood of experiencing complications related to type 2 diabetes, including cardiovascular disease and neuropathy. This study employed bibliometric analysis to investigate recent advancements in research about the relationship between vitamin D and type 2 diabetes.
    Methods: We searched for articles on the topic of vitamin D and type 2 diabetes published between January 1, 2004, and December 31, 2023. The search was performed on February 20, 2024, using the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Utilizing VOSviewer and CiteSpace, we conducted bibliometric analysis and visualization.
    Results: A comprehensive study was conducted on a total of 1362 papers pertaining to the relationship between vitamin D and type 2 diabetes. The United States had the biggest number of publications and the highest effect among these articles. Within the top 10 most published journals, the journal "DIABETES CARE" has the highest H-index, indicating its significant influence in this field of study. Currently, there is an extensive body of research on the supplementation of vitamin D for the improvement of type 2 diabetes and prevention of complications in type 2 diabetes, as well as its related mechanisms. Research related to bone turnover and peripheral neuropathy represents a promising area for future studies.
    Conclusion: Overall, bibliometrics may assist researchers in comprehending the trajectory, significant themes, and scholarly influence of the field concerning vitamin D and type 2 diabetes. This, in turn, offers substantial backing for future studies that delve further into the subject matter.

       Background: Institutional academic productivity varies on an individual level. This study aims to analyze the research output of adult reconstruction and arthroplasty fellowship programs in the United States.
    Methods: The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons Fellowship Directory was used to evaluate 112 adult reconstruction and arthroplasty fellowships in the United States. Publication data and Hirsch index (h-index) were collected from the Scopus Database. All of each author's total publications were analyzed with their current institution, regardless of their affiliation at the time of publication. Multivariate logistic regressions were performed to determine the effect of program size on research productivity.
    Results: The total number of publications per institution ranged from 2 to 3743, with a mean of 289 and a median of 135. The h-index of individual faculty members ranged from 0 to 103, with a mean of 16 and a median of 11. The number of faculty (P < .001) and number of fellows (P = .003) per program had a significant effect on the total number of publications. The number of faculty did not have a significant effect on the median number of publications (P = .12) or the median h-index (P = .31). The number of fellows had a significant effect on the median number of publications (P < .001) and the median h-index (P < .001).
    Conclusions: Academic productivity in adult reconstruction and arthroplasty fellowships within the United States varies widely, with the top few institutions responsible for a majority of the overall output.

      Tumour deposits (TDs) significantly impact colorectal cancer (CRC) prognosis. Integrating TDs into the TNM staging system can enhance individualized disease management. Keeping abreast of evolving TDs research is pivotal for clinical advancement. We comprehensively reviewed both recent and popular literature to grasp the field's essence. Subsequently, a data retrieval sourced articles on TDs in CRC for bibliometric analysis, spanning from 1 January 1935 to 30 April 2023. Bibliometrix software facilitated paper analysis and visualization. Bibliometric indicators, the trends and hotspots were determined. A total of 2147 articles were successfully retrieved. Brown G emerged as the most productive author, and the USA as the most prolific country. Central South University and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center led productivity. Bradford's law categorized 48 journals into zone 1. Keywords co-occurrence analysis identified three main clusters: the application of TDs in TNM staging, the pathogenesis of TDs, and the assessment of TDs. The trend topic analysis highlighted research focused on refining TDs incorporation into tumour staging. TDs wield enduring medical significance, shaping ongoing research. Much literature focused on confirming TD's prognostic value and optimizing TNM integration.        BACKGROUND: Physiotherapy and chronic low back pain (CLBP) form a broad and quickly developing research area. The aim of this article was to holistically, thematically and chronologically analyze and synthesize the literature production in this research area and identify the most prolific research entities and research themes.
    METHODS: This article quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed research literature production harvested from the Scopus bibliometric database, using a triangulation of bibliometric and thematic analysis. For this, Excel 2024, Bibliometrix Biblioshiny 4.1 and VOSviewer version 1.6.20 softwares were used.
    RESULTS: In the Scopus database, 2843 data sources were found, which were published between 1974 and 26 February 2024. The growth trend has been linearly positive since the beginning of publication, and after 2018 exponential growth began. A review of the most prolific entities showed that the most literature was published in America, Europe and Australasia. The thematic analysis of the information sources identified six main themes (pathophysiology of CLBP and the quantification assessment tools, diagnostics and CLBP treatment, CLBP questionnaires and surveys, quality of life, complementary methods in physiotherapy and psychosocioeconomic aspects), while the chronological analysis revealed three main areas of development: assessment tools, CLBP processing and study methodology.
    CONCLUSIONS: The results of this bibliometric study present a good starting point for further research, providing taxonomy and research landscapes as a holistic framework offering multidisciplinary knowledge about CLBP, while chronological analysis provides a basis for identifying prospective research trends. This article offers an interdisciplinary view of the current issue of public health. The results of this study provide a basis for the development of both the physiotherapy and epidemiological fields.

      Organoid technology has been developed rapidly in the past decade, which involves the exploration of the mechanism of development, regeneration and various diseases, and intersects among multiple disciplines. Thousands of literature on 3D-culture or organoids have been published in the research areas of cell biology tissue engineering, nanoscience, oncology and so on, resulting in it being challenging for researchers to timely summarize these studies. Bibliometric statistics is a helpful way to help researchers clarify the above issues efficiently and manage the whole landscape systematically. In our study, all original articles on organoids were included in the Web of Science database from January 2009 to May 2024, and related information was collected and analyzed using Excel software, "bibliometrix" packages of the R software, VOSviewer and CiteSpace. As results, a total of 6222 papers were included to classify the status quo of the organoids and predict future research areas. Our findings highlight a growing trend in publications related to organoids, with the United States and Netherlands leading in this field. The University of California System, Harvard University, Utrecht University and Utrecht University Medical Center have emerged as pivotal contributors and the key authors in the field include Clevers, H, Beekman, JM and Spence JR. Our results also revealed that the research hotspots and trends of organoids mainly focused on clinical treatment, drug screening, and the application of materials and technologies such as "hydrogel" and "microfluidic technology" in organoids. Next, we had an in-depth interpretation of the development process of organoid research area, including the emergence of technology, the translation from bench to bedsides, the profiles of the most widely studied types of organoids, the application of materials and technologies, and the emerging organoid-immune co-cultures trends. Furthermore, we also discussed the pitfalls, challenges and prospects of organoid technology. In conclusion, this study provides readers straightforward and convenient access to the organoid research field.

       BACKGROUND: The step test provides valuable information on cardiorespiratory parameters such as maximal oxygen uptake and heart rate. Cardiorespiratory capacity is critical to health-related fitness, with heart rate recovery after exercise serving as a predictor of mortality risk.
    MAIN BODY: The primary objective of this review was to identify trends, key contributors, and emerging themes in the step test literature through 2023 using the Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometric data extraction and analysis were performed using a dedicated bibliometric software (VOSviewer). The analysis showed continued interest through 2021. The research categories highlight the multidisciplinary nature of the step test, covering cardiovascular systems, respiratory systems, sports sciences, and medicine. It has gained global attention, with 31 countries involved, with Brazil and the United States leading the way. The diversity of contributing nations is increasing, reflecting a growing global interest. With 111 journals involved, such as Respiratory Care and Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, step test research is spread across the academic landscape. With 761 contributing researchers, there is a collaborative and diverse community. The top 10 institutions, including the University of Alabama System and Monash University, illustrate the variety of settings in which step test studies are conducted. Step test studies span multiple disciplines, underscoring their adaptability. The clusters identified in this bibliometric analysis of the step test literature guide future research, suggesting avenues for refining protocols, exploring health implications, optimizing tests for specific conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and adapting step tests in diverse populations.
    CONCLUSIONS: Practical implications highlight the role of the step test in cardiovascular risk assessment, fitness monitoring, and rehabilitation. This broad review underscores the relevance of the step test in diverse settings, reflecting its adaptability and ease of application across occupational and clinical settings.

      Amidst the increasing significance of innovative solutions for bioremediation of heavy metal removal, this paper offers a thorough bibliometric analysis of microbial-induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) for heavy metal removal, as a promising technology to tackle this urgent environmental issue. This study focused on articles published from 1999 to 2022 in the Scopus database. It assesses trends, participation, and key players within the MICP for heavy metal sequestration. Among the 930 identified articles, 74 countries participated in the field, with China being the most productive. Varenyam Achal, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Chemosphere are leaders in the research landscape. Using VOSviewer and R-Studio, keyword hotspots like "MICP", "urease", and "heavy metals" underscore the interdisciplinary nature of MICP research and its focus on addressing a wide array of environmental and soil-related challenges. VOSviewer emphasises essential terms like "calcium carbonate crystal", while R-Studio highlights ongoing themes such as "soil" and "organic" aspects. These analyses further showcase the interdisciplinary nature of MICP research, addressing a wide range of environmental challenges and indicating evolving trends in the field.        PURPOSE: One psychosocial risk factor that has drawn attention is work-related stress, although it is still unclear how exactly this risk factor relates to poor health. Prospective observational studies have found a 40%-50% raise in the incidence of coronary heart disease in those who experience chronic stress at work and in their personal lives.
    THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK: In the recent decade, there has been a rise in the requirement for firms to gather information on job stress on employees that leads to coronary heart disease. As a result, this study on trends in Coronary Heart Disease induced by Work Stress becomes necessary to examine all of these efforts.
    DESIGN/METHODOLOGY: This research employs bibliometric analysis and charting to describe the growth and structure of the research field of work-related stress causing coronary heart disease. The field's conceptual framework and research boundaries, the connections between publications and the contributors, key phrases, the latest networks of collaboration, the most prevalent concepts, and the most cited authors are all revealed by our findings.
    FINDINGS: Research found that this field has seen a significant increase in research on coronary heart disease in recent years. Because it has been demonstrated that there is a rise in deaths from cardiovascular disease, researchers, academics, and professionals should be made aware of how stress can lead to coronary heart disease.
    ORIGINALITY/VALUE: The study suggests that workplace health should be a priority for both developed and developing nations, and it must be disseminated in several languages.

      Catalytic purification of sulphur-containing malodorous gases has attracted wide attention because of its advantages of high purification efficiency, low energy consumption and lack of secondary pollution. The selection of efficient catalysts is the key to the problem, while the preparation and optimisation of catalysts depend on the analysis of experimental results and in-depth mechanistic analysis. By analysing the published literature, bibliometric analysis can identify existing research hotspots, the areas of interest and predict development trends, which can help to identify hot catalysts in the catalytic purification of sulphur-containing odours and to investigate their catalytic purification mechanisms. Therefore, this paper uses bibliometric analysis, based on Web Of Science and CNKI databases, CiteSpace and VOS viewer software to collate and analyse the literature on the purification of sulphur-containing odour pollutants, to identify the current research hotspots, to summarise the progress of research on the catalytic purification of different types of sulphur-containing odours, and to analyse their reaction mechanisms and kinetics. On this basis, the research progress of catalytic purification of different kinds of sulfur odour is summarized, and the reaction mechanism and dynamics are summarized.

      The place of digital twin technology in any healthcare system is a truly disruptive innovation that has profound consequences all across medical research and practice. Digital twins represent the virtual replicas that correspond to some physical entity by pulling real-time data streams from different sources to model biological systems for health monitoring and personalization of treatment strategies. This paper presents a detailed review of the current research landscape into digital twins for healthcare. Through bibliometric analysis, we obtained 1,663 publications from 2012 to 2024, basically sourced from the Scopus database, establishing a portion of the trends, productive authors, influential sources, and collaboration networks in this fast-evolving field. Descriptively, our results indicate that although research into this area started way back, the bulk of research began to be realized from 2018 onwards, with appreciable contributions coming in from interdisciplinary fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics. Even with challenges to data interoperability and other privacy concerns, this change brought on by digital twin technology is undoubtedly a considerable promise for chronic disease management, predictive analytics, drug discovery, and surgical planning. This work brings immense insight into this new domain of digital twins in health, which shall set up a strong foundation for future research and innovation in this area.

      December 2019 was momentous since it experienced the trajectory of another novel pathogenic HCoV recognized as 2019-nCoV in Wuhan, China, which further unfurled to all countries on the entire globe at lightning speed. The Majority of COVID-19 vaccines are being manufactured using protein subunits, viral vectors, inactivated viruses, as well as DNA and mRNA vaccine platforms. This study aimed to conduct a gender-based review of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among the general population and bibliometric analysis. Various articles related to COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, either based on their title, abstract, or keywords in the search strategy, were reviewed. For COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, we used the definition of "Reluctance to receive safe and recommended available vaccines". Accordingly, 408 articles were included in the complete evaluation and the bibliometric analysis. Data Analysis was done using the Vos viewer Software. The strength of co-cited publications showed strong contributors from the American and Asian continents. The words with the maximum weightage based on their occurrences were female, health personnel, acceptance, social media, socio-economic factors, and ethnic groups, as covered in the red cluster. On the other hand, the Overlay Visualization on the right side, based on the total link strength of MeSH items, showed the largest clusters with items such as females, attitude to health, trust, cross-sectional studies, the acceptance of healthcare, rural population, public health, and parents, which were toward the center. The terms toward the periphery, which had less weightage, need more analysis. Greater perceived susceptibility, risk perception, benefits, and low levels of barriers and self-efficacy were the prime reasons for getting vaccinated, more specifically among females. In most instances, the female being the decision-maker of the family needs to be attended to first as she can further change the mindset of the entire family and carry the future forward.

      Recently, a rapid advancement in using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for yield prediction (YP) has led to many YP research findings. This study aims to visualize the intellectual background, research progress, knowledge structure, and main research frontiers of the entire YP domain for main cereal crops using VOSviewer and a comprehensive literature review. To develop visualization networks of UAVs related knowledge for YP of wheat, maize, rice, and soybean (WMRS) crops, the original research articles published between January 2001 and August 2023 were retrieved from the web of science core collection (WOSCC) database. Significant contributors have been observed to the growth of YP-related research, including the most active countries, prolific publications, productive writers and authors, the top contributing institutions, influential journals, papers, and keywords. Furthermore, the study observed the primary contributions of YP for WMRS crops using UAVs at the micro, meso, and macro levels and the degree of collaboration and information sources for YP. Moreover, the policy assistance from the People's Republic of China, the United States of America, Germany, and Australia considerably advances the knowledge of UAVs connected to YP of WMRS crops, revealed under investigation of grants and collaborating nations. Lastly, the findings of WMRS crops for YP are presented regarding the data type, algorithms, results, and study location. The remote sensing community can significantly benefit from this study by being able to discriminate between the most critical sub-domains of the YP literature for WMRS crops utilizing UAVs and to recommend new research frontiers for concentrating on the essential directions for subsequent studies.

      Citation bias receives scant attention in discussions of ethics. However, inaccurate citation may lead to significant distortions in scientific understanding. Although ethnical and gender citation disparities have been proposed as critical aspects, there are other contributors to citation distortions, like region-based citation bias, that, although less recognized within the scientific community, are equally important. While the foundations of scientific citation include acknowledging pioneers, giving credit to related work, and providing background reading, other more subjective or even questionable criteria are often used when constructing a reference lists. Here, we discuss the potential causes and ethical concerns of citation bias, emphasizing the role of international- or region-based citation bias as one of the most harmful aspects of this ethical breach. We argue that the international scientific community should be aware of this problem and recognize its consequences, which include hindering the accurate dissemination of science, marginalizing underrepresented voices in academia, and impeding scientific progress. We advocate that scientists should compile their reference lists with the same seriousness and integrity they apply to all other aspects of their research.

      In academic craniofacial surgery, gender disparities exist across various metrics including faculty positions, leadership roles, and conference representation. This study benchmarks the academic productivity of craniofacial surgeons in 2022 and surveys their perspectives regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

    Women comprised 27% (n = 53) of the craniofacial surgeon cohort. Men led total publications (81% vs 19%, p < 0.001), senior-author publications (84% vs 16%, p < 0.001), average total publications (6.6 vs 4.0, p = 0.043), and average senior-author publications (3.1 vs 1.5, p = 0.02). Sub-analysis of craniofacial fellows showed a higher proportion of women (65%) with no statistical difference in total or average publication counts. Survey responses (n = 26) included a perceived lack of female representation in academic and leadership roles. Barriers included inadequate support from current leadership, systemic issues, and biases. Recommendations for improvement included mentorship programs, targeted recruitment, and equitable conference speaker selection.
    Ongoing gender disparities are evident in craniofacial surgery, particularly in academic metrics. However, trends in younger cohorts exhibit more balanced gender representation, publication records, and leadership positions, indicating potential improvements. Further studies are needed to examine these cohorts more comprehensively and longitudinally. Sustained commitment, including mentorship programs and enhanced DEI efforts, is needed to continue this progress.

      Many microRNAs (miRNAs) have been identified as being involved in diabetes; however, the question of which ones may be the most promising therapeutical targets still needs more investigation. This study aims to understand the overall development tendency and identify a specific miRNA molecule to attenuate diabetes. We developed a combined analysis method based on bibliometrics and bioinformatics to visualize research institutions, authors, cited references, and keywords to identify a promising target for diabetes. Our data showed that diabetes-related miRNA is receiving continuously increasing attention, with a large number of publications, indicating that this is still a hot topic in diabetes research. Scientists from different institutions are collaborating closely in this field. miR-21, miR-146a, miR-155, and miR-34a are frequently mentioned as high-frequency keywords in the related references. Moreover, among all the above miRNAs, bioinformatics analysis further strengthens the argument that miR-21 is the top significantly upregulated molecule in diabetes patients and plays an important role in the pathogenesis of diabetes. Our study may provide a way to identify targets and promote the clinical translation of miRNA-related therapeutical strategies for diabetes, which could also indicate present and future directions for research in this area.

      This article reviews technological advances and global trends in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of cardiovascular diseases. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the SCOPUS database, following PRISMA-ScR guidelines, to identify relevant publications on technologies applied in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. An increase in scientific output since 2018 was observed, reflecting a growing interest in the technologies available for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, with terms such as "telemedicine", "artificial intelligence", "image analysis", and "cardiovascular disease" standing out as some of the most commonly used terms in reference to CVDs. Significant trends were identified, such as the use of artificial intelligence in precision medicine and machine learning algorithms to analyse data and predict cardiovascular risk, as well as advances in image analysis and 3D printing. Highlighting the role of artificial intelligence in the diagnosis and continuous monitoring of cardiovascular diseases, showing its potential to improve prognosis and reduce the incidence of acute cardiovascular events, this study presents the integration of traditional cardiology methods with digital health technologies-through a transdisciplinary approach-as a new direction in cardiovascular health, emphasising individualised care and improved clinical outcomes. These advances have great potential to impact healthcare, and as this field expands, it is crucial to understand the current research landscape and direction in order to take advantage of each technological advancement for improving the diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life of cardiovascular patients. It is concluded that the integration of these technologies into clinical practice has important implications for public health. Early detection and personalised treatment of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) can significantly reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with these diseases. In addition, the optimisation of public health resources through telemedicine and telecare can improve access to quality care. The implementation of these technologies can be a crucial step towards reducing the global burden of cardiovascular diseases.
