       BACKGROUND: Stem cells have shown tremendous potential and vast prospects in the research of intervertebral disc (IVD) regeneration and repair, attracting considerable attention in recent years. In this study, a bibliometric analysis and visualization techniques were employed to probe and analyze the hotspots and frontiers of stem cell research in IVD regeneration and repair, aiming to provide valuable references and insights for further investigations.
    METHODS: This study utilized the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded) from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database to retrieve and extract relevant literature records as research samples. Visual analysis tools such as VOSviewer 1.6.19, CiteSpace 6.2.R4, and bibliometric online analysis platforms were employed to construct scientific knowledge maps, providing a comprehensive and systematic exposition from various perspectives including collaboration networks, co-citation networks, and co-occurrence networks.
    RESULTS: A total of 1,075 relevant studies have been published in 303 journals by 4,181 authors from 1,198 institutions across 54 countries/regions. Over the past 20 years, the field of research has witnessed a significant growth in annual publications and citations. China and the United States have emerged as the primary participants and contributors, with the AO Research Institute Davos, Zhejiang University, and Tokai University being the top three leading research institutions. The most productive and highly cited author is Sakai D, who is regarded as a key leader in this research field. The journals with the highest number of publications and citations are Spine and Biomaterials, which are considered to be high-quality and authoritative core journals in this field. The current research focuses primarily on the sources and selection of stem cells, optimization of transplantation strategies, mechanisms of IVD regeneration, and the combined application of stem cells and biomaterials. However, there are still some challenges that need to be addressed, including post-transplantation stability, assessment of regenerative effects, and translation into clinical applications. Future research will concentrate on the diversity of stem cell sources, the application of novel biomaterials, personalized treatments, and the development of gene editing technologies, among other cutting-edge directions.
    CONCLUSION: This study utilized bibliometric analysis and visualization techniques to unveil the hotspots and frontiers in the research on stem cells for IVD regeneration and repair. These research findings provide essential guidance and references for further experimental design and clinical applications. However, additional experiments and clinical studies are still needed to address the challenges and difficulties faced in the field of IVD regeneration and repair, thus offering novel strategies and approaches for the treatment of IVD diseases.

       Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the current research status, focus areas, and developmental trends in the field of Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) through an analysis of scientific literature.
    Methods: The relevant research articles on MOGAD published from 1947 to 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science database. The quantitative output of MOGAD related research articles, their distribution by country/region, data on collaborative publishing, influential authors, high-yield institutions, keywords, hotspots, and development trends were analyzed. Additionally, visual knowledge maps were generated using VOSviewer and Citespace.
    Results: There has been a steady increase in the number of MOGAD related publications indicating that the subject has garnered increasing interest among researchers globally. The United States has been the leading contributor with 496 papers (19.25%), followed by China (244, 9.63%), Japan (183, 7.10%), the United Kingdom (154, 5.98%), and Germany (149, 5.78%). Among these countries, the United Kingdom boasts the highest citation frequency at the rate of 46.49 times per paper. Furthermore, active collaboration in MOGAD related research is observed primarily between the United States and countries such as Canada, Germany, Australia, Italy, the United Kingdom and Japan. Mayo Clinic ranks first in total articles published (109) and frequency of citations per article (77.79). Takahashi Toshiyuki from Tohoku University is the most prolific author, while Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders is the most widely read journal in this field. "Disease Phenotype", "Treatment", "Novel Coronavirus Infection and Vaccination", "Immunopathological Mechanisms", "Clinical characteristics of children" and "Prognosis" are the primary keywords clusters in this field. "Novel Coronavirus Infection and Vaccination" and "Immunopathological Mechanisms" are research hotspots and have great development potential.
    Conclusion: The past three decades have witnessed a significant expansion of research on MOGAD. The pathogenetic mechanism of MOGAD is poised to be the prominent research focus in this field in the foreseeable future.

      Acute chest syndrome (ACS) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with SCD (SCD). The analysis of research productivity and trends in ACS may serve as a valuable guide for investigators, institutions, and funding agencies to plan the future directions of research. The current review aims to evaluate the productivity and trends of publications related to ACS in adults by analyzing the top 100 most cited articles. A bibliometric analysis of the top 100 most cited articles related to ACS in adults was conducted on May 20, 2021. The Scopus database was searched to identify the top-cited articles. The following term was applied: "acute chest syndrome" in the fields of title, abstract, and keyword. The most cited article received a total of 776 citations, while the least cited received a total of 10 citations. Over half of the identified articles received 35 citations or less. The articles originated in 12 different countries; the overwhelming majority of articles originated in the United States (n = 75), with small contributions from developing countries with a high prevalence of sickle cell disease. Blood and American Journal of Hematology published the largest number of articles, with nine articles each. The Author "Vichinsky, E.P." has the largest contribution with a total of 10 articles. The plethora of the highly cited articles were Observational studies, while randomized controlled trials were represented by seven articles. The present study demonstrates that research in ACS may be receiving less attention than it should. Therefore, research empowerment and adequate funding are of paramount importance to improve research productivity and quality. Additionally, more collaborative efforts should be encouraged to reduce the gap between developed and developing countries.

       Background: Cardiac troponin (cTn) is a reliable marker for evaluating myocardial damage. cTn is a very specific protein involved in myocardial injury, and it is a key factor in the diagnosis of coronary syndromes. Bibliometric analysis was applied in the present work, with the main goal of evaluating global research on the topic of cardiac troponin in pediatric populations.
    Methods: Publications about cardiac troponin and physical activity in pediatric populations were retrieved from the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) of the Web of Science Core Collection, and they were then analyzed. The study was able to identify the key bibliometric indicators, such as publications, keywords, authors, countries, institutions, and journals. For the analysis, VOSviewer, R-based Bibliometrix (4.2.2), and MapChart were used.
    Results: Initially, 98 documents were identified; however, once inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, the number of documents decreased to 88. The search yielded 79 original research articles and 9 reviews, almost all of which were published in the past 2 decades. The total number of citations (Nc) of the retrieved publications was 1,468, and the average number of citations per article (Na) was 16.68. In general, 508 authors were found to have participated in research about troponin; they were associated with 256 institutions, and their work was published in 65 different journals from around the world. The authors hailed from 30 countries and/or regions. The year 2022 was the most productive year for the publication of the selected documents. The bibliometric analysis provided information regarding levels of cooperation among authors and institutions. In fact, China, the United States, and England were the most productive nations, and the journal with the greatest number of publications on the topic was Pediatric Cardiology.
    Summary: The number of publications and the trend line show that research on this topic has not yet reached a stage of maturity. There are referent investigators, countries, and institutions that have laid the foundations for subsequent studies on the analyzed topic.

       Objective: "Metabolism affects function" is the consensus of researchers at present. It has potential clinical application value to study the effects of regulating glutamine (Gln) metabolism on diabetes physiology or pathology. Our research aimed to summarize the latest research progress, frontier hot topics and future development trends in this field from the perspective of scientometrics.
    Methods: Relevant literatures and reviews were obtained from the Web of Science (WoS) between January 1, 2001 and May 31, 2022. An online analysis platform of bibliometrics, CiteSpace, and VOS viewer software were used to generate visual knowledge network graphs, including publication countries, institutions and authors partnership analysis, co-occurrence analysis, co-citation analysis, as well as citations and keywords burst detection to acquire research trends and hotspots.
    Results: Our results showed that a total of 945 publications in the WoS database met the analysis requirements, with articles being the main type. The overall characteristics showed an increasing trend in the number of publications and citations. The United States was leading the way in this research and was a hub for aggregating collaborations across countries. Vanderbilt University delivered high-quality impact with the most published articles. DeBerardinis, RJ in this field was the most representative author and his main research contents were Gln metabolism and mitochondrial glutaminolysis. Significantly, there was a relative lack of collaboration between institutions and authors. In addition, "type 2 diabetes", "glutamine", "metabolism", "gene expression" and "metabolomics" were the keywords categories with high frequency in co-citation references and co-occurrence cluster keywords. Analysis of popular keywords burst detection showed that "branched chain", "oxidative phosphorylation", "kinase", "insulin sensitivity", "tca cycle", "magnetic resonance spectroscopy" and "flux analysis" were new research directions and emerging methods to explore the link between Gln metabolism and diabetes. Overall, exploring Gln metabolism showed a gradual upward trend in the field of diabetes.
    Conclusion: This comprehensive scientometric study identified the general outlook for the field and provided valuable guidance for ongoing research. Strategies to regulate Gln metabolism hold promise as a novel target to treat diabetes, as well as integration and intersection of multidisciplinary provides cooperation strategies and technical guarantees for the development of this field.

       Aim: This study probed into the gender variation, subject dispersion and citation impact of dental research with an objective to highlight the increasing influence of female authors in the field of dentistry.
    Methodology: The research employed bibliometric techniques to highlight gender variation in dental research as demonstrated in the Saudi Dental Journal (SDJ), over a period of thirteen years, 2009-2021. The examination comprised SDJ publications indexed in PubMed, with citation data extracted from Google Scholar on July 2023. The analysis encompassed the progressive growth of papers, authors, and citations, the gender distribution of authors, the co-authorship structure, subject dispersion, and collaboration patterns based on affiliation, both national and international.
    Results: 625 SDJ publications were identified in the PubMed database from 2009 to 2021. There was a notable rise in the volume of papers and the number of authors per year. The citation impact analysis revealed that these 625 papers achieved an average of 26 citations each. Remarkably, the representation of female authors increased from 0.47 to 2.23 authors per paper during the study period. The authorship pattern largely showed single-authorship, closely followed by a three-author pattern. Almost half the papers (48%) were a collaboration between male and female authors, with female authors solely producing about 15% of papers.The topological classification of papers revealed that the most considerable number of papers were on Periodontics, with the least number focusing on Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Female authors prominently contributed to Pediatric Dentistry and Periodontics papers.
    Conclusion: The study illustrates an encouraging trend of heightened female authorship in dental research over the years. Their increasing engagement not only enriches the academic diversity but also impacts the progressive evolution of dental science, contributing to a more inclusive and balanced society.

       OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis to examine the current condition, areas of interest, and rising trends of transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion in lumbar spine surgery (TLIF), as well as its importance in associated research domains.
    MATERIALS AND METHODS: An extensive collection of academic papers on the use of TLIF was obtained from the Web of Science between January 1, 2000, and November 5, 2023. Then, using a variety of tools like HisCite, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the bibliometrix package, a bibliometric study was carried out. This study included the collection of information on country, institution, author, journal, and keywords.
    RESULTS: A comprehensive analysis was undertaken on a total of 1,907 publications obtained from 181 journals, encompassing the contributions of 7,232 authors affiliated with 1,775 institutes spanning 57 countries/regions. Notably, the USA exhibited the highest number of publications, with 763 (40.03%) articles on TLIF. The most productive institution was Rush University, with 96 (5.03%) publications. The author with the highest publication output was Singh, Kern with 75 (3.93%) publications. World Neurosurgery demonstrated the highest level of productivity, having published a total of 211 (11.06%) articles. The most frequently used keywords were "TLIF", "spondylolisthesis" and "complication". Meanwhile, "workflow", "technical note" and "hidden blood loss" have been identified as the research frontiers for the forthcoming years.
    CONCLUSIONS: This paper provides a thorough evaluation of current research trends and advancements in TLIF. It includes relevant research findings and emphasizes collaborative efforts among authors, institutions, and countries.

       Background: Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a pregnancy-related myocardial disease. PPCM has a high morbidity and mortality rate, but neither partial nor complete recovery is highly probable.
    Objective: To analyze global scientific production and identify research hotspots related to PPCM.
    Methods: The keyword "peripartum cardiomyopathy" was used to retrieved articles from Scopus database. A total of 509 articles were extracted. We used Scopus database analysis report and VOSviewer (version 1.6.18) to analyze annual publication number, country, citation and H-index, authors, institution, source journal, reference, and research hotspot.
    Results: The trend of annual publication numbers has increased significantly, with the United States leading the amounts of publication and H-index in PPCM study. Hilfiker-Kleiner, D. contributed the most publications and the most active institution was Medizinische Hochschule Hannover MHH. By employing an overlay visualization, we shed light on the evolving research emphases, wherein prominent topics such as "diagnostic imaging" and "practical guidelines" have emerged as major areas of focus in recent years.
    Conclusion: From 1971 to 2022, numbers of publications in PPCM research have increased gradually, and this trend is predicted to keep arising. Recent studies are becoming more focused on diagnostic imaging and practical guidelines. In the future, expanding global collaboration and conducting more in-depth studies are needed.

       OBJECTIVE: Heart disease poses a significant global health challenge. Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) has gained prominence in clinical practice because of advancements in visual medicine. The present bibliometric analysis provides an overview of TEE research, identifies trends, and highlights emerging topics.
    METHODS: A comprehensive search of TEE-related literature from the establishment of the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) until 2022 was conducted. Utilizing the CiteSpace software, we performed an in-depth analysis of the literature data encompassing disciplines, publication years, countries, institutions, authors, journals, cited references, and keywords.
    RESULTS: A total of 17 032 TEE-related articles were included in this study. The most active disciplines in TEE research were Cardiac & Cardiovascular Systems, Anesthesiology, and Respiratory System. The number of publications displayed a consistent upward trajectory over the years. Notably, research contributions predominantly originated from developed countries, mainly Europe and North America, with the United States, Germany, Italy, and Japan leading the way. Analysis of institutions, authors, and journals revealed the United States' significant role in TEE research. Furthermore, the analysis of cited references and keywords identified the treatment of patent foramen ovale and its association with stroke as emerging hot topics in recent years.
    CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights that TEE remains a research hotspot, with the United States at the forefront. Future research should investigate the relationship between heart disease and brain function.

       OBJECTIVE: Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) constitutes a crucial pathological foundation for spinal degenerative diseases (SDD) and stands as a primary contributor to both low back pain (LBP) and disability. The progression of IVDD is linked to structural and functional alterations in tissues, where an imbalance in the inflammatory microenvironment can induce extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation, senescence, and apoptosis. This imbalance is a key pathomechanism in the disease's development, gaining considerable attention in recent years. This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of publications pertaining to the inflammatory mechanisms of IVDD to quantitatively assess current research hotspots and directions.
    METHODS: In this study, we queried the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database covering the period from January 1, 2001, to November 7, 2023. Content in this area was analyzed and visualized using software such as Citespace, Vosviewer, and the bibliometrix package.
    RESULTS: Findings indicate a consistent annual increase in the number of publications, highlighting the widespread attention garnered by research on the inflammatory mechanisms of IVDD. In terms of journal research, Spine emerged with the highest number of publications, along with significantly elevated total citations and average citations compared to other journals. Regarding country analysis, China led in the number of publications, while the USA claimed the highest number of citations and total link strength. Institutional analysis revealed Sun Yat-sen University as having the highest number of publications and total link strength, with Thomas Jefferson University securing the highest total citations. Author analysis identified Ohtori, S. with the highest number of publications, Risbud, M.V. with the highest number of citations, and Inoue, G. with the highest total link strength, all of whom have made significant contributions to the field's development. Citation and co-citation analyses indicated that highly cited documents primarily focused on classical studies exploring inflammatory mechanisms in IVDD pathogenesis. Keyword analysis showcased the ongoing research hotspot as the further investigation of mechanisms and treatment studies. Recent years have seen a shift towards exploring pyroptosis, necrotic apoptosis, autophagy, ferroptosis, oxidative stress, and bacterial infection, among other mechanisms. In terms of treatment, alongside traditional monomer, drug, and compound therapies for IVDD, research is increasingly concentrating on stem cell therapy, exosomes, hydrogels, and scaffolds.
    CONCLUSION: This bibliometric analysis of research on inflammatory mechanisms in IVDD provides insights into the current status, hotspots, and potential future trends. These findings can serve as a valuable reference and guide for researchers in the field.

       ABSTRACTS: The use of radiation to treat keloid scars has gained popularity during the last few decades. However, few bibliometric analyses have been performed on the published articles. This research aimed to demonstrate and evaluate the trends, top-cited articles, and frontier areas. In this cross-sectional study, Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus database literature was searched for all MESH terms related to "keloid" and "radiotherapy." The bibliometric analysis was carried out by VOSviewer 1.6.15. Articles with Web of Science-based citations of ≥20 were included. The citation per year index (CPYI) of articles was calculated for further inclusion of papers if they had CPYI higher than the mean value. There were 95 papers on keloid radiation that satisfied the inclusion criteria and were published between 1942 and 2019. The CPYI ranged from 0.38 to 11.3. Most studies were published in the "International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, and Physics" (9 papers). The United States has the most papers (14), followed by Japan (9), the Netherlands (7), and Germany (5). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first bibliometric analysis of top-cited papers on keloid radiotherapy. From 2014 to the present, it seems that this title has resurfaced as a popular topic, with radiotherapy within 24 h of surgery being the most commonly recommended treatment plan. Since around 2011, high-dose-rate brachytherapy (HDR-BT) has been used as an effective treatment for keloid control. Individualization of therapy and dose/technique based on the location is strongly suggested.

       Background: ILCs play important roles in the brain, gut, and lungs. Researchers are attempting to establish a research framework on the brain-gut-lung axis using ILCs. However, no one has yet conducted a bibliometric analysis to summarize the findings. In this study, we utilized bibliometrics to analyze the emerging trends and focal areas of ILCs in the brain, intestine, and lung. We aim to provide references for future research on the brain-gut-lung axis.
    Methods: To conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis on ILCs in the fields of brain, intestine, and lung, we utilized software such as HistCite, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace. Our analysis focused on various aspects, including the number of publications, countries, authors, journals, co-cited documents, and keywords. This approach allowed us to gain valuable insights into the research landscape surrounding ILCs in these specific fields.
    Results: A total of 8411 articles or reviews on ILCs in the fields of brain, intestine, and lung were included. The number of published articles has shown a consistent upward trend since 2003. A total of 45279 authors from 99 countries have contributed to these articles. The United States has the highest number of publications (n=3044) and the most cited articles (TGCS=210776). The top three published authors in this field are David Artis, Marco Colonna and Andrew NJ McKenzie. The journal Immunity is the most authoritative choice for researchers. The main research focuses in this field include NK cell, ILC2, tumor immunity, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, airway inflammation, RORγT, and immunotherapy. In recent years, cancer and tumor microenvironment have emerged as hot keywords, particularly immunotherapy, PD-1 related directions, indicating a potential shift in research focus.
    Conclusion: European and American countries have been pivotal in conducting research on ILCs, while China has produced a significant number of publications, its impact is still limited. Tumors are likely to emerge as the next focal points in this field. The connection and regulation between the brain and the lung are not yet fully understood, and further investigation is necessary to explore the role of ILCs in the brain-lung axis.

      The goal of the study was to examine the trends in recent years by analyzing 750 studies, 3619 authors, and 166 sources with the statement "Horticultural Crop Secondary Metabolism" in the article title published within the scope of SCI-Expanded and "Scopus" journals in between the years 2010 and 2023. In this case, the Web of Science Core Collection database was scanned under the heading "Horticultural Crop Secondary Metabolism", and bibliometric information was gathered. In order to advance research on horticulture crops, current problems and recommend solutions within "Horticultural Crop Secondary Metabolism" were identified in this study. The number of publications, publication kinds, reference analyses, total citations per year, most common words, most often cited local authors, most pertinent affiliations, and most pertinent sources were all examined in relation to the research. According to the findings, Horticulture Research, Frontiers in Plant Science, Plant Physiology and Biochemistry: PPB, Scientific Reports, and BMC Genomics are the journals that publish the most papers on "Horticultural Crop Secondary Metabolism". The phrases "gene expression regulation plant", "transcriptome", and "plant proteins" are used most frequently. Because of this, the increase of bibliometrics study can be very beneficial by serving as a catalyst for horticulture crop research.

      Research on the pathogenesis of cataracts is ongoing and the number of publications on this topic is increasing annually. This study offers an overview of the research status, popular topics, and scholarly tendencies in the field of cataract pathogenesis over recent decades,which helps to guide future research directions, and optimize resource allocation. In the present study, we performed a bibliometric analysis of cataract pathogenesis. Publications from January 1, 1999, to December 20, 2023, were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), and the extracted data were quantified and analyzed. We analyzed and presented the data using Microsoft Excel, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Python. In all, 4006 articles were evaluated based on various characteristics, including publication year, authors, countries, institutions, journals, citations, and keywords. This study utilized VOSviewer to conduct visualized analysis, including co-authorship, co-citation, co-occurrence, and network visualization. The CiteSpace software was used to identify keywords with significant bursts of activity. The number of annual global publications climbed from 76 to 277 between 1999 and 2023, a 264.47% rise. Experimental Eye Research published the most manuscripts (178 publications), whereas Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science received the most citations (6675 citations). The most influential and productive country, institution, and author were the United States (1244 publications, 54,456 citations), University of California system (136 publications, 5401 citations), and Yao Ke (49 publications, 838 citations), respectively. The top 100 ranked keywords are divided into four clusters through co-occurrence analysis: (1) secondary cataracts, (2) oxidative stress, (3) gene mutations and protein abnormalities, and (4) alteration of biological processes in lens epithelial cells. Further discussions on the four subtopics outline the research topics and trends. In conclusion, the specific mechanism of cataract formation remains a popular topic for future research and should be explored in greater depth.

       Objective: Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) was a complex disease that had attracted increasing attention. However, there had been no bibliometric analysis of this disease so far. This study aimed to explore the current situation and frontier trend of PMP through bibliometric and visualization analysis, and to indicate new directions for future research.
    Methods: The original research articles and reviews related to the PMP research were downloaded from Web of Science Core Collection on September 11, 2023. CiteSpace (6.2.R4) and VOSviewer(1.6.18) were used to perform bibliometric analysis of the publications, and establish the knowledge map. The data collected was analyzed using the Online Analysis Platform of Bibliometric to evaluate the cooperation of countries in this field.
    Results: We identified 1449 original articles and reviews on PMP published between 1998 and 2023. The number of publications on PMP increased continuously. The United States, the United Kingdom and China were the top contributors. The most productive organization was the MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Sugarbaker, Paul H. was the most prolific author and the most cited. Keyword analysis showed that "Pseudomyxoma peritonei", "cancer", "cytoreductive surgery", and "hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy" were the most common keywords. The earliest and latest used keywords were "mucinous tumors" and "impact", respectively. "classification", "cytoreductive surgery", "appendiceal" were the top 3 strongest citation bursts. The reference "Carr NJ, 2016, AM J SURG PATHOL" had the highest co-citations.
    Conclusion: This bibliometric analysis showed an increasing trend in literature related to PMP. The research trends and hotspots identified in this study could guide the future research directions in this field, in order to promote the development of PMP.

       OBJECTIVE: The treatment and understanding of superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCD) has seen significant developments over the past 25 years. Bibliographic analysis can provide insight into the evolution of research as well as highlight emerging areas. Reviewing a large volume of publications provides valuable insights into the citation patterns and collaborations of research groups. This study seeks to offer a comprehensive historical overview of SSCD and leading authors.
    DATABASE REVIEWED: Web of Science Core Collection METHODS: A bibliometric analysis of the current literature on SSCD was conducted. A performance analysis and science mapping of the top 100 most cited articles was completed using a citation analysis. Two independent reviewers evaluated articles for relevance and adjugated by a third reviewer. Author and institution networks were examined.
    RESULTS: 791 articles on the topic of SSCD were identified. The top 100 articles spanned over 23 years from 1998 to 2019 and were published in 30 different journals. The top 100 articles were cited 8253 times in literature. The document contents revealed 233 keywords and 238 author keywords. The articles were authored by a total of 291 authors, with only 4 single-authored documents.
    CONCLUSIONS: SSCD has been highly researched in aspects of symptomatology, diagnosis, and treatment, as indicated by many highly cited articles that relate. However, the production of highly cited articles on SSCD displays a significant decrease after 2013, with only 17 of the top cited articles published since then.

       Background: Dysphagia is a common complication of stroke that can result in serious consequences. In recent years, more and more papers on post-stroke dysphagia have been published in various journals. However, there is still a lack of bibliometric analysis of post-stroke dysphagia. This study visually analyzes the global research situation of post-stroke dysphagia from 2013 to 2022, aiming to explore the current research status, frontier trends, and research hotspots in this field.
    Methods: Articles and reviews relevant to post-stroke dysphagia were obtained and retrieved from the Web of Science core collection database in the last 10 years (from 2013 to 2022). CiteSpace and Microsoft Excel 2019 were used for bibliographic analysis.
    Results: A total of 1,447 articles were included in the analysis. The number of publications showed an overall upward trend, from 72 in 2013 to 262 in 2022. The most influential authors, institutions, journals, and countries were Hamdy S, University of London, Dysphagia, and the People's Republic of China. An analysis of keywords and the literature indicated that current studies in the field of post-stroke dysphagia focused on dysphagia and aspiration, dysphagia classification, dysphagia rehabilitation, and daily living.
    Conclusion: This bibliometric analysis reveals the latest advancements and emerging trends in the field of post-stroke dysphagia, spanning the years 2013 to 2022. It highlights the paramount importance of conducting large-scale randomized controlled trials examining the efficacy of dysphagia screening protocols and non-invasive intervention techniques in improving the quality of life for these patients. Such research efforts hold significant academic implications for the development of evidence-based treatment strategies in this field.

       Objective: Neck pain has emerged as a significant public health concern. This study is to unveil the present state of neck pain research, thereby furnishing invaluable insights for prospective research endeavours and clinical applications.
    Methods: The study was initiated by searching the Web of Science Core Collection database, focusing on "neck pain". From the amassed results, the top 100 most cited references were imported into CiteSpace and VOSviewer, enabling a rigorous bibliometric analysis. To ensure precision, synonymous terms conveying similar meanings were harmonized. The bibliometric study encompassed countries, research institutions, authors, journals, and keyword analysis.
    Results: The investigation centered on a curated compilation of 100 articles, disseminated across a diverse array of 36 scholarly journals. These seminal articles originated from 24 distinct countries, reflecting contributions from a wide spectrum of 188 research institutions. Impressively, a collaborative effort involving 385 authors emerged. Noteworthy core research countries included the United States and Australia, with the University of Queensland and the University of Toronto asserting notable influence. Prolific authors such as J. David Cassidy and Pierre Cote garnered attention. Present research endeavours pivot around the incidence of neck pain, the identification of risk factors, the efficacy evaluation of treatment modalities, and a pronounced focus on high-quality randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews.
    Conclusion: The study shines a light on key research countries, influential institutions, prominent authors, and prevalent trends, effectively contributing to comprehending the knowledge landscape and research dynamics in the field of neck pain.

      The incidence of postlaparoscopic shoulder pain has recently increased and has attracted increasing attention from clinical workers, but no study has performed bibliometric and visual analysis of the relevant literature. This study used bibliometric and visual analysis to conduct a comprehensive and systematic evaluation of postlaparoscopic shoulder pain to help researchers understand the latest global trends and hotspots and provide a reference for caregivers to carry out PLSP care interventions and research. Related studies on postlaparoscopic shoulder pain from 2003 to 2023 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. We analysed current research trends and hotspots in this field using VOSviewer and CiteSpace. A total of 2451 authors from 352 institutions in 50 countries published 464 studies related to postlaparoscopic shoulder pain. The United States was the country with the most publications and worked closely with other countries. Donmez Turgut was the researcher with the most published articles, while Bisgaard T had the most citations per article. The Journal of Surgical Endoscopy was cited most frequently, totalling 356 times. Through keyword significance analysis, we found that relieving postlaparoscopic shoulder pain in patients through integrated care interventions was an emerging research hotspot. This bibliometric and visual analysis provides a comprehensive review of studies related to postlaparoscopic shoulder pain. The current global research trend and hotspot is to alleviate postlaparoscopic shoulder pain through integrated care interventions, but the advantages of this approach are not outstanding. However, further research and global collaboration are still needed. Our findings can help researchers understand the current status of postlaparoscopic shoulder pain research and identify new directions for future research.

       Background: The study of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) has received great attention from academia and the general public. This study aims to analyze the research productivity on CTE and investigate the most discussed articles in academia and the general public by conducting bibliometric and altmetric analyses.
    Methods: Data of articles were obtained from the Web of Science Core Databases and Altmetric Explore. VOSviewer and CiteSpace software were used to analyze and visualize the articles. The correlation between Altmetric attention scores (AAS) and citation counts were assessed by Spearman correlation coefficient.
    Results: 788 publications of CTE were eventually gathered and analyzed, and 100 articles with highest citation counts (Top-cited) and 100 articles with highest AASs (Top-AAS) were then identified. The keywords density map showed both the general public and the scientists were particularly interested in the risk factors and pathology of CTE, and scientists were interested in the causes and characteristics of neurodegenerative diseases while the public became increasingly concerned about the detection and prevention of CTE. By examining the shared characteristics of the 44 articles (High-High articles) that overlapped between Top-cited and Top-AAS articles, we identified certain traits that may potentially contribute to their high citation rates and high AASs. Besides, significant positive correlations with varied strength between AAS and citation were observed in the 788 articles, Top-cited, Top-AAS and High-High datasets.
    Conclusion: This study is the first to link bibliometric and altmetric analyses for CTE publications, which may provide deeper understanding of the attention of the scientists and the general public pay to the study of CTE, and offer some guidance and inspiration for future CTE in the selection of research topics and directions.

       BACKGROUND: Xenograft kidney transplantation has been receiving increasing attention. The purpose of this study is to use bibliometric analysis to identify papers in this research field and explore their current status and development trends.
    METHODS: Using the data in the Web of Science core database from Clarivate Analytics as the object of study, we used 'TS = Kidney OR Renal AND xenotransplantation' as the search term to find all literature from 1980 to 2 November 2022.
    RESULTS: In total, 1005 articles were included. The United States has the highest number of publications and has made significant contributions in this field. Harvard University was at the forefront of this study. Professor Cooper has published 114 articles in this field. Xenotransplantation has the largest number of relevant articles. Transplantation was the most cited journal. High-frequency keywords illustrated the current state of development and future trends in xenotransplantation. The use of transgenic pigs and the development of coordinated co-stimulatory blockers have greatly facilitated progress in xenotransplantation research. We found that 'co-stimulation blockade', 'xenograft survival', 'pluripotent stem cell', 'translational research', and 'genetic engineering' were likely to be the focus of attention in the coming years.
    CONCLUSIONS: This study screened global publications related to xenogeneic kidney transplantation; analyzed their literature metrology characteristics; identified the most cited articles in the research field; understood the current situation, hot spots, and trends of global research; and provided future development directions for researchers and practitioners.

       BACKGROUND: According to Gallup survey report, 69% of U.S. workers moved to working remotely in April 2020. Due to COVID-19, work is changing rapidly, including where individuals work.
    OBJECTIVE: Research in this field has drawn much attention, and in the last ten years, there is a constant augment in the number of publications on the same. Several works of literature on Remote Working (RW) culture have been reported. Nevertheless, only less research is present on bibliometric reviews of RW culture. Therefore, Bibliometric research is wielded in this work and a comprehensive review of relevant publications was taken from Scopus, Web of Science (WOS), together with the Social Science Citation Index Expanded.
    METHODOLOGY: At first, meticulous bibliometric analyses of 430 published articles are done and descriptive information about a piece of work, namely (a) author, (b) title, (c) date of publication, et cetera, is provided.
    RESULTS: Mapping the scope along with the structure of the discipline is enabled by these analyzes, which discovers the instituted collaboration patterns amongst countries and organizations, and identifies authoritative papers together with authors. Therefore, the publication's evolution over time is illustrated by these analyses, and the current research interests and potential directions for future study are identified.

       BACKGROUND: Huangqi (Radix Astragali) is a natural medicine with a wide range of uses. The research related to Huangqi is getting hotter and the number of publications is gradually increasing. This study aims to explore the current status and emerging trends of Huangqi-related research.
    METHOD: Huangqi-related literature was systemically obtained from the Web of Science database. The CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and, R package "Bibliometrix" tools were used to analyze the number of publications, countries, research institutions, journals, authors, keywords, references, and trends.
    RESULTS: A total of 2255 papers were retrieved for analysis. These papers were written by 11,247 authors from 1927 institutions in 71 countries, published in 570 journals, and cited 73,534 references from 11,553 journals. From 1999 to 2022, the number of publications gradually increased. China was the country with the highest number of publications. The most prolific institution was Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine. Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine was the journal publishing the most Huangqi-related literature. Dr Karl Wah Keung Tsim was the authors with the most output publications. The Review, entitle "Review of the Botanical Characteristics, Phytochemistry, and Pharmacology of Astragalus membranaceous (Huangqi)," was the reference being cited most frequently. The major keywords were apoptosis, oxidative stress, and inflammation. Gut microbiota and epithelial-mesenchymal transitions were new research hotspots in recent years.
    CONCLUSION: This study used quantitative and visual analysis of Huangqi to provide insights into the research priorities, frontier research hotspots, and future research trends in this field.

       PURPOSE: The physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling has received increasing attention owing to its excellent predictive abilities. However, there has been no bibliometric analysis about PBPK modeling. This research aimed to summarize the research development and hot points in PBPK model utilization overall through bibliometric analysis.
    METHODS: We searched for publications related to the PBPK modeling from 1999 to 2023 in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. The Microsoft Office Excel, CiteSpace and VOSviewers were used to perform the analyses.
    RESULTS: A total of 4,649 records from 1999 to 2023 were identified, and the largest number of publications focused in the period 2018-2023. The United States was the leading country, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was the leading institution. The journal Drug Metabolism and Disposition published and co-cited the most articles. Drug-drug interactions, special populations, and new drug development are the main topics in this research field.
    CONCLUSION: We first visualize the research landscape and hotspots of the PBPK modeling through bibliometric methods. Our study provides a better understanding for researchers, especially beginners about the dynamization of PBPK modeling and presents the relevant trend in the future.

      The generation of uranium-containing wastewater (UCW) during different stages of uranium mining, processing, and utilization presents a significant ecological and biospheric threat. Consequently, it is crucial for both sustainable development and the protection of human health to adopt appropriate methods for the treatment of UCW as well as the separation and enrichment of uranium. This study conducted a comprehensive search of the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database for publications related to UCW treatment between 1990 and 2022 to gain insight into current trends in the field. Subsequently, the annual publications, WOSCC categories, geographical distribution, major collaborations, prolific authors, influential journals, and highly cited publications were the subjects of a biliometric analysis that was subsequently carried out. The study findings indicate a significant rise in the overall number of publications in the research field between 1990 and 2022. China, India, and the USA emerged as the primary contributors in terms of publication count. The Chinese Academy of Sciences, the East China University of Technology, and the University of South China were identified as the key research institutions in this field. Furthermore, a majority of the publications in this field were distributed through prestigious journals with high impact factors, such as the Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry. The top 3 journals were Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, Chemical Engineering Journal, and Journal of Hazardous Materials. The keyword co-occurrence and burst analysis revealed that the current research on UCW treatment mainly focuses on adsorption-based treatment methods, environmentally functional materials, uranium recovery, etc. Furthermore, the study of the adsorption efficiency of different adsorbent materials, as well as the strengthening and improvement of adsorbent material selectivity and capacity for the recovery of uranium, represents a research hotspot in the field of UCW treatment in the future. This study conducts a comprehensive overview of the current status and prospects of the UCW treatment, which can provide a valuable reference for gaining insights into the development trajectory of the UCW treatment.

      Olfactory marker protein (OMP) is extensively studied in mature olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs) for understanding olfaction physiology. However, no bibliometric analysis on this topic exists. We conducted a bibliometric analysis of OMP research articles, wherein the publication count was assessed by year, country, journal, and author, collaboration by country, and productivity of the authors. Additionally, key terms and research themes were identified. Using the search phrase "olfactory marker protein" in Scopus, we retrieved 691 original research articles by 2487 authors since 1974. Publications showed an increasing trend, with the United States leading in quantity and collaboration. Our thematic map highlights "Olfactory bulb, regeneration, olfactory" as the primary research domain, while "olfaction, olfactory sensory neuron, glomerulus" and "olfactory receptor neurons, apoptosis, olfactory dysfunction" emerge as essential future research topics. These bibliometric findings offer insights into the global OMP research landscape, guiding researchers in potential collaborations and intriguing future research fields.

       Objectives: Perform a bibliometric analysis on the role of LAG-3 in the domain of cancer, elucidate the prevailing areas of research, and visually depict the evolutionary trajectory and prospective directions of LAG-3 research over the past twenty-three decades.
    Materials and methods: Between 2000 and 2023, a comprehensive review of scholarly articles pertaining to LAG-3 research in the context of cancer was carried out using the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. Bibliometric analysis can be conducted by taking advantage of VOSviewer (version 1.6.16) and CiteSpace (version 6.2.R4). Create a network diagram to visually represent various authors, countries, and organizations while assessing the publishing years, journals, references, and keywords.
    Results: In conclusion, 1841 records were identified and published in 587 publications. These records were authored by 12,849 individuals affiliated with 2491 institutes across 74 countries. There has been a substantial surge in publications subsequent to 2013. The USA, China, and Germany gave the majority of records, amounting to 69.69%. American institutions actively engage in collaboration with institutions located in other countries. Triebel, F., Vignali, Dario A. A., Workman, Creg J. Drake, Charles G., and Elkord, Eyad are highly regarded authors in their respective fields. However, it is worth noting that Triebel exhibits limited collaboration with other writers. The examination of the role of LAG-3 in cancer and its potential for use in clinical settings is a discernible trend, as seen by keyword analysis.
    Conclusion: The scientific interest in and attention towards LAG-3 has experienced a significant rise since 2013. The United States is leading the way, with China following closely behind. Promoting collaboration among writers, nations, and institutions with varied backgrounds is imperative. The discipline of immunotherapy is currently seeing ongoing progress. A thorough investigation of the distinctive cis ligand TCR-CD3 complex of LAG-3 and its signal transduction mechanism is necessary. Additionally, it is worthwhile to explore novel combinations of LAG-3 therapy.

       Background: Tumor vaccines have become crucial in cancer immunotherapy, but, only a limited number of phase III clinical trials have demonstrated clinical efficacy. The crux of this issue is the inability of tumor vaccines to effectively harmonize the tumor microenvironment with its intricate interplay. One factor that can hinder the effectiveness of vaccines is the natural immunosuppressive element present in the tumor microenvironment. This element can lead to low rates of T-cell response specific to antigens and the development of acquired resistance. Conversely, anticancer vaccines alter the tumor microenvironment in conflicting manners, inducing both immune activation and immunological evasion. Hence, comprehending the correlation between tumor vaccines and the tumor microenvironment would establish a foundation for forthcoming tumor treatment.
    Objective: Our review explores the realm of research pertaining to tumor vaccinations and the tumor microenvironment. Our objective is to investigate the correlation between tumor vaccines and the tumor microenvironment within this domain. We then focus our review on the dominant international paradigms in this research field and visually illustrates the historical progression and emergent patterns observed in the past.
    Methods: From January 1, 1999 to February 7, 2023, 1420 articles on the interplay between tumor vaccines and the tumor microenvironment were published, according to The Clarivate Web of Science (WOS) database used in our review. A bibliometric review was designed for this collection and consisted of an evaluation. The evaluation encompassed various discernible attributes, including the year of publication, the journals in which the articles were published, the authors involved, the affiliated institutions, the geographical locations of the institutions, the references cited, and the keywords employed.
    Results: Between the years 1999 and 2022, publications saw a significant increase, from 3 to 265 annually. With 72 papers published, Frontiers in Immunology had the most manuscripts published. The Cancer Research publication garnered the highest number of citations, amounting to 2874 citations. The United States exerts significant dominance in the subject, with the National Cancer Institute being recognized as a prominent institution in terms of both productivity and influence. Furthermore, Elizabeth M. Jaffee was recognized as the field's most prolific and influential author with 24 publications and 1,756 citations. The co-occurrence cluster analysis was conducted on the top 197 keywords, resulting in the identification of five distinct clusters. The most recent high-frequency keywords, namely immune therapy, dendritic cell, tumor microenvironment, cancer, and vaccine, signify the emerging frontiers in the interaction between tumor vaccines and the tumor microenvironment.
    Conclusion: Our review uncovers insights into contemporary trends, global patterns of collaboration, fundamental knowledge, research areas of high interest, and emerging frontiers in the field of TME-targeted vaccines.

      This study aimed at the detailed bibliometric analysis (BA) of fused deposition modeling (FDM) to understand the trend and research area. Web of Science database was used for extracting data using keywords, and 2793 documents were analyzed. From the analysis, the most influential and productive authors, countries, sources, and so on were identified and corresponding interrelations were represented by a three-field plot. Lotka's law was derived for author productivity and its reliability was verified by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) test. Bradford's law was used for identifying the core sources contributing to the field of FDM. From the trend topic analysis, it was found that initially the research was focused upon removing error related to deposition as well as part orientation, but with the course of time, it diversified to include topics such as optimization of printing parameters, materials, and applications. Based on the inferences from BA, the article also discusses on current research trend and highlights certain future areas for research work.

      The aim of this bibliometric analysis was to benchmark the publication activities of German university departments of oral and maxillofacial surgery. The publication performance of staff surgeons (chief and consultants), documented by first or last authorship, from 37 German university departments was captured over a 10-year period (January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2019). All publications listed in PubMed were included. Additionally, the Impact Factor (IF) was determined. A total of 213 surgeons were identified, of whom 158 (74.2%) were publishing. The number of publications was 1,777, published in 311 journals. Publication activity ranged from an average of 23.3 publications per staff surgeon in the top-ranked department to 0 publications in the last-ranked. The same trend was observed for the total cumulative IFs (CIFs) per member (range from 56.2 to 0). The most common used journal was the Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery (19.7%), with focus on "dentoalveolar surgery" (24%) and "operative techniques and procedures" (28.3%). Women constituted 19.2% of the staff, contributing to 8.5% of the publications. The publication performance of German university departments of oral and maxillofacial surgery exhibits a high variance, which did not correlate with the number of personnel and could only be explained by different research motivations.

      Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising tool in the field of healthcare, with an increasing number of research articles evaluating its applications in the domain of kidney disease. To comprehend the evolving landscape of AI research in kidney disease, a bibliometric analysis is essential. The purposes of this study are to systematically analyze and quantify the scientific output, research trends, and collaborative networks in the application of AI to kidney disease. This study collected AI-related articles published between 2012 and 20 November 2023 from the Web of Science. Descriptive analyses of research trends in the application of AI in kidney disease were used to determine the growth rate of publications by authors, journals, institutions, and countries. Visualization network maps of country collaborations and author-provided keyword co-occurrences were generated to show the hotspots and research trends in AI research on kidney disease. The initial search yielded 673 articles, of which 631 were included in the analyses. Our findings reveal a noteworthy exponential growth trend in the annual publications of AI applications in kidney disease. Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation emerged as the leading publisher, accounting for 4.12% (26 out of 631 papers), followed by the American Journal of Transplantation at 3.01% (19/631) and Scientific Reports at 2.69% (17/631). The primary contributors were predominantly from the United States (n = 164, 25.99%), followed by China (n = 156, 24.72%) and India (n = 62, 9.83%). In terms of institutions, Mayo Clinic led with 27 contributions (4.27%), while Harvard University (n = 19, 3.01%) and Sun Yat-Sen University (n = 16, 2.53%) secured the second and third positions, respectively. This study summarized AI research trends in the field of kidney disease through statistical analysis and network visualization. The findings show that the field of AI in kidney disease is dynamic and rapidly progressing and provides valuable information for recognizing emerging patterns, technological shifts, and interdisciplinary collaborations that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in this critical domain.

       BACKGROUND: The main subtypes of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs)-polymyositis (PM) and dermatomyositis (DM)-are often presented as interstitial lung disease (ILD) in clinical practice; therefore, many researchers have combined the three studies into PM/DM with ILD.
    METHODS: Using bibliometrics, the research status, progress, and hotspots of PM/DM with ILD between 2000 and 2022 were studied. Literature data on PM/DM with ILD were retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) database for the research period. Visualization software, including VOSviewer, Pajek, CiteSpace, and Scimago Graphica were used for bibliometric analysis.
    RESULTS: A total of 1555 relevant articles were obtained, and the overall research in this field showed an increasing trend. Regarding contributing countries and venues, Japan published the most articles while Rheumatology was the most prolific journal. Regarding authors, the most published article was by Wang Guochun from Changchun University of Technology in China. Keyword analysis and cocited literature cluster analysis showed that diagnosis, classification, autoantibodies, antibodies, prognosis, complications, and treatment of PM/DM with ILD have been hot topics in this field recently. Moreover, our study shows that anti-mda5 antibody, mortality, gene 5 antibody, IIMs, double-blind, and prognostic factors, among others, may be new hot topics.
    CONCLUSION: This study found that research on PM/DM with ILD has increased over time, and scholars are paying more attention to this field. The development of new drugs for the management, treatment, and prevention of PM/DM with ILD is the primary task of researchers and a direction for future research in this field.

      A bibliometric study using 1992 to 2021 database of the Science Citation Index Expanded was carried out to identify which are the current trends in textile wastewater treatment research. The study aimed to analyze the performance of scholarly scientific communications in terms of yearly publications/citations, total citations, scientific journals, and their categories in the Web of Sciences, top institutions/countries and research trends. The annual publication of scientific articles fluctuated in the first ten years, with a steady decrease for the last twenty years. An analysis of the most common terms used in the authors' keywords, publications' titles, and KeyWords Plus was carried out to predict future trends and current research priorities. Adsorbent nanomaterials would be the future of wastewater treatment for decoloration of the residual dyes in the wastewater. Membranes and electrolysis are important to demineralize textile effluent for reusing wastewater. Modern filtration techniques such as ultrafiltration and nanofiltration are advanced membrane filtration applications.

       Background: Pregnancy-related Pelvic Girdle Pain (PPGP) is a prevalent condition characterized by various physiological and pathological processes in the female body. The objective of this study is to offer a comprehensive understanding of the current research landscape, key areas of interest, and potential future directions in the field of PPGP.
    Methods: Using Web of Science, we explored PPGP literature from 2002 to 2022. VOSviewer and CiteSpace facilitated a quantitative analysis, revealing co-authorship patterns, co-occurring themes, citations, and co-citations.
    Results: We identified, peaking at 99 publications in 2021. The United States led with 138 publications and the highest citation count (3160). The Karolinska Institute boasted the highest tally of publications (n = 21). Regarding the volume of publications, the esteemed journal of BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth attained the foremost position. Notably, Gutke, Annelie emerged as the most prolific and highly cited author. The analysis of keyword co-occurrence and co-citation clustering unveiled an intricate tapestry of PPGP studies, spanning various domains including risk factors, mechanistic intricacies, diagnostic benchmark, treatment modalities, and far-reaching ramifications on one's quality of life.
    Conclusion: Research endeavors exploring PPGP have unveiled an enduring trajectory of growth in contemporary times. The existing body of research primarily focuses on delving into the intricate interplay of epidemiological factors and the profound implications of interventions encompassing physical therapy, exercise protocols, and diverse modes of pain management within the domain of PPGP. Multidisciplinary integration encapsulates a prevailing trajectory of progress within this domain, while the focal point of future inquiries into PPGP may revolve around subjects pertaining to standardized outcome reporting.

       PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to provide relative citation ratio (RCR) benchmark data for cornea and external diseases specialists.
    DESIGN: This is a cross-sectional bibliometric analysis.
    SUBJECTS: Subjects included were fellowship-trained cornea and external diseases faculty at Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-accredited institutions in the United States.
    METHODS: Academic specialists were indexed using the National Institutes of Health iCite Web site. Publication count, mean RCR score, and weighted RCR score were obtained between October 2022 and January 2023 by examining PubMed-listed publications from 1980 to 2022. Data were compared by sex, career duration, academic rank, and acquisition of a Doctor of Philosophy.
    MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The main outcome measures were publication count, mean RCR value, and weighted RCR value.
    RESULTS: The cohort included 602 specialists from 112 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-accredited institutions. These clinician-scientists produced highly impactful research with a median publication count of 15 (interquartile ranges 4-41), median RCR of 1.4 (interquartile ranges 0.91-1.88), and median-weighted RCR of 20.28 (5.3-66.69). Both academic rank and career length were associated with greater publication count and RCR values. Male sex was also associated with greater publications counts and RCR scores compared with female faculty. Acquisition of a Doctor of Philosophy was associated with greater publication counts and weighted RCR scores but no difference in mean RCR scores.
    CONCLUSIONS: Academic cornea and external diseases specialists conduct high-impact research, with a median RCR of 1.4, exceeding the NIH standard value of 1. These data provide RCR benchmark data for the field to inform self, institutional, and departmental evaluations. These results also highlight a significant gender disparity in the field necessitating efforts to increase female representation and ensure equal opportunities.

      Objectives: The aim of this study was to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the literature on stem cell treatment for spinal cord injury to gain an intuitive understanding of how the field is progressing, discover topics of interest, and determine what development trends are emerging in this field. Background: Spinal cord injury and its complications often cause an enormous economic burden, and postinjury repair and treatment have always been challenging in clinical and scientific research. Stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury can prevent immune rejection and induce the release of neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory factors to reduce the production of stress-related proteins, reactive oxygen species, and inflammatory reactions. Methods: We analyzed the number and quality of publications in the field of stem cell therapy in spinal cord injury between 2018.01.01 and 2023.06.30 in the core collection database of Web of Science. CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to sort and summarize these studies by country, institution, authors' publications, and collaborative networks. In addition, the research topics of interest were identified and summarized. Results: This study ultimately included 2,150 valid papers, with the number of publications showing a gradual upward trend. The country, institution, author and journal with the greatest number of publications and citations are China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dai JW, and the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, respectively. The top three high-frequency keyword clusters were hereditary paraplegia, reactive astrocytes and tissue engineering. Conclusion: With the help of visual analysis, we identified general trends and research topics of interest in the field of spinal cord injury over the last 5 years. Our findings suggest that stem cell transplantation for spinal cord injury and exosome therapy may be a focus of future research. This study provides a foundation for future research on stem cell therapy as well as clinical efforts in this field.

       BACKGROUND: An extensive body of research has explored the role of autophagy in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), revealing its critical involvement in the disease's pathogenesis, progression, and therapeutic targeting. However, there is a discernible deficit in quantitative, analytical studies concerning autophagy in the context of HCC. Accordingly, this investigation endeavored to meticulously assess the evolution of autophagy research, employing bibliometric citation analysis to offer a comprehensive evaluation of the findings in this field.
    METHODS: We conducted a literature search on August 2, 2023, to extract relevant publications spanning from 2013 to 2022, indexed in the Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCIE) of the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC). Subsequently, we performed a bibliometric assessment of the compiled documents using visualization tools such as CiteSpace and VOSviewer.
    RESULTS: The search yielded 734 publications penned by 4,699 authors, encompassing contributions from 41 countries and 909 institutions, disseminated across 272 journals, and comprising 26,295 co-cited references from 2,667 journals. Notably, China led in publication volume with 264 articles (amounting to 35.9%) and exhibited the most robust collaboration with the United States. The mechanisms underlying autophagy's influence on the emergence and advancement of HCC, as well as the implicated proteins and genes, have garnered significant attention. In recent years, investigations of targeting autophagy and the resistance to sorafenib have surfaced as pivotal themes and emerging frontiers in this domain.
    CONCLUSION: This study rigorously collated and distilled the prevailing research narratives and novel insights on autophagy in HCC. The resultant synthesis provides a substantive foundation for medical professionals and researchers, as well as pivotal implications for future investigative endeavors in this arena.

       OBJECTIVE: This study aims to comprehensively analyze the global landscape of oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) literature through bibliometrics. The research focuses on evaluating publication trends, influential topics, and the impact of scholarly works within the field.
    METHODS: Following the principles of the Leiden Manifesto, a literature search was conducted using the Web of Science database, encompassing seven OMFS journals. A total of 18,218 publications were analyzed, with indicators such as publication language, geographic location, specialty, year, citation, and authorship examined. Statistical analyses, including Pearson correlation tests and angular coefficient calculations, were performed in RStudio.
    RESULTS: The study revealed a strong upward trend in publications related to orthognathic surgery, trauma, and infections. Geographic analysis indicated a dominance of European and Asian contributions, with the USA leading in overall publications. The impact of self-citations was explored, emphasizing nuanced perspectives on their role in scholarly impact metrics. The data provided insights into the scholarly impact of OMFS publications, including the H-index, number of citations, and citing articles.
    CONCLUSION: The findings underscored potential global discrepancies in OMFS research, both geographically and in terms of topics covered. The study discussed the influence of language and journal impact on citation counts, emphasizing the role of English publications. Specific topics, such as trauma and infections, exhibited high scholarly interest and citation rates. Recommendations were made to encourage submissions on specific topics, such as cosmetic surgery and pathology, to enhance the diversity of OMFS literature. The study aims to foster international collaboration and leverage bibliometrics for evidence-based decision-making, educational strategies, and advancements in the dynamic field of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

       Background: Social Network Analysis is a method of analyzing coauthorship networks or relationships through graph theory. Institutional Development Award (IDeA) Networks for Clinical and Translational Research (IDeA-CTR) was designed to expand the capability for clinical and translational research to enhance National Institutes of Health funding.
    Methods: All publications from a cohort of clinical and translational scientists in Oklahoma were collected through a PubMed search for 2014 through 2021 in October 2022. For this study's bibliometric portion, we pulled the citations from iCite in November of 2022.
    Results: There were 2,391 articles published in 1,019 journals. The number of papers published by year increased from 56 in 2014 to 448 in 2021. The network had an average of 6.4 authors per paper, with this increasing by year from 5.3 in 2014 to 6.9 in 2021. The average journal impact factor for the overall network was 7.19, with a range from 0.08 to 202.73. The Oklahoma Shared Clinical and Translational Resources (OSCTR) network is a small world network with relatively weak ties.
    Conclusions: This study provides an overview of coauthorship in an IDeA-CTR collaboration. We show the growth and structure of coauthorship in OSCTR, highlighting the importance of understanding and fostering collaboration within research networks.

      The 21st century has seen the launch of new space-borne sensors based on LiDAR (light detection and ranging) technology developed in the second half of the 20th century. Nowadays, these sensors offer novel opportunities for mapping terrain and canopy heights and estimating aboveground biomass (AGB) across local to regional scales. This study aims to analyze the scientific impact of these sensors on large-scale forest mapping to retrieve 3D canopy information, monitor forest degradation, estimate AGB, and model key ecosystem variables such as primary productivity and biodiversity. A worldwide bibliometric analysis of this topic was carried out based on up to 412 publications indexed in the Scopus database during the period 2004-2022. The results showed that the number of published documents increased exponentially in the last five years, coinciding with the commissioning of two new LiDAR space missions: Ice, Cloud, and Land Elevation Satellite (ICESat-2) and Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI). These missions have been providing data since 2018 and 2019, respectively. The journal that demonstrated the highest productivity in this field was "Remote Sensing" and among the leading contributors, the top five countries in terms of publications were the USA, China, the UK, France, and Germany. The upward trajectory in the number of publications categorizes this subject as a highly trending research topic, particularly in the context of improving forest resource management and participating in global climate treaty frameworks that require monitoring and reporting on forest carbon stocks. In this context, the integration of space-borne data, including imagery, SAR, and LiDAR, is anticipated to steer the trajectory of this research in the upcoming years.

      The safety of mining has always been a concern. The occurrence of safety accidents not only endangers human health, but also causes serious damage to the ecological environment. With the continuous upgrade and improvement of mining technology, most mines are undergoing intelligent construction and transformation. In order to analyze security risks that should be focused on the construction of intelligent mines and the technical challenges that will be faced, we used the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection to identify 283 publications on the field of security risks in intelligent mines from 2013 to 2022. We combined the Vosviewer, CiteSpace, and Bibliometrix R software packages to conduct an in-depth analysis and exquisite visualization of the literature, including the authors, journals, countries, hot topics, and research frontiers. This paper can help scholars comprehensively and quickly understand the research status and hotspots in the field of intelligent mine safety and risk, and it provides theoretical support for further research and exploration in the future.

      Different stakeholders, such as authors, research institutions, and healthcare professionals (HCPs) may determine the impact of peer-reviewed publications in different ways. Commonly-used measures of research impact, such as the Journal Impact Factor or the H-index, are not designed to evaluate the impact of individual articles. They are heavily dependent on citations, and therefore only measure impact of the overall journal or researcher respectively, taking months or years to accrue. The past decade has seen the development of article-level metrics (ALMs), that measure the online attention received by an individual publication in contexts including social media platforms, news media, citation activity, and policy and patent citations. These new tools can complement traditional bibliometric data and provide a more holistic evaluation of the impact of a publication. This commentary discusses the need for ALMs, and summarizes several examples - PlumX Metrics, Altmetric, the Better Article Metrics score, the EMPIRE Index, and scite. We also discuss how metrics may be used to evaluate the value of 'publication extenders' -educational microcontent such as animations, videos and plain-language summaries that are often hosted on HCP education platforms. Publication extenders adapt a publication's key data to audience needs and thereby extend a publication's reach. These new approaches have the potential to address the limitations of traditional metrics, but the diversity of new metrics requires that users have a keen understanding of which forms of impact are relevant to a specific publication and select and monitor ALMs accordingly.       This comprehensive bibliometric study analyzes 1820 journal articles from the Web of Science database to explore Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) leadership in higher education institutions (HEIs). Utilizing co-citation and co-word analysis, the study identifies distinct thematic clusters. The co-citation analysis reveals five key themes: Race, Diversity, and Inclusion (RDI), Diversity, Leadership, and Self-Efficacy (DLSE), Gender Dynamics and Leadership Challenges, Women's Representation in Academic Medicine Leadership, and Transformational Leadership in HEIs. Meanwhile, the co-word analysis highlights three critical areas: Transformative Collaborative Resilience in HEIs, Advancing Gender Equality in Academic Medicine and STEM, and Inclusive Educational Leadership in HEIs. These themes collectively provide a deep understanding of the EDI leadership field's intellectual structure, suggesting significant areas for future research and practical application. The study emphasizes the necessity for HEIs to engage comprehensively in EDI leadership research, shedding light on the importance of transformative collaborative resilience, gender equality in STEM, and inclusive leadership. This research offers valuable insights for developing effective EDI leadership policies and practices, highlighting the interconnectedness of these themes in fostering a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment in higher education and beyond.

      The purpose of this work is to comprehensively understand the adaptive response of multiple epigenetic modifications on gene expression changes driven by exercise. Here, we retrieved literatures from publications in the PubMed and Web of Science Core Collection databases up to and including October 15, 2023. After screening with the exclusion criteria, 1910 publications were selected in total, comprising 1399 articles and 511 reviews. Specifically, a total of 512, 224, and 772 publications is involved in DNA methylation, histone modification, and noncoding RNAs, respectively. The correlations between publication number, authors, institutions, countries, references, and the characteristics of hotspots were explored by CiteSpace. Here, the USA (621 publications) ranked the world's most-influential countries, the University of California System (68 publications) was the most productive, and Tiago Fernandes (14 publications) had the most-published publications. A comprehensive keyword analysis revealed that cardiovascular disease, cancer, skeletal muscle development, and metabolic syndrome, and are the research hotspots. The detailed impact of exercise was further discussed in different aspects of these three categories of epigenetic modifications. Detailed analysis of epigenetic modifications in response to exercise, including DNA methylation, histone modification, and changes in noncoding RNAs, will offer valuable information to help researchers understand hotspots and emerging trends.

      The h index has become a widely known indicator to assess the research impact of academic scholars. However, its application has been associated with some criticism regarding its ability to fully capture the quality and significance of an author's research contributions. In this paper, we present a novel approach to improve the evaluation of authors' publications by means of a Figure-of-Merit (FOM) that includes 5 distinct indicators, of which, an enhanced version of the h index. Named the Enhanced Research Quality Index (ERQI), it addresses the current limitations of existing solutions and offers a more comprehensive evaluation of research quality. The ERQI builds upon the concept that one metric is never sufficient to capture the performance of an academic scholar, while multiple ones are complex to handle and interpret. The proposed ERQI considers the total number of citations, papers and co-authors and can further differentiate researchers with equal h index. By incorporating measurable, and quantitative metrics, ERQI moves away from subjective and indirect factors such as journal reputation, citation context, citation patterns and self-citation righteousness, to offer a more nuanced and accurate representation of research quality. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed metric, we conducted a comparative study using a real dataset of 31 researchers in one of the top 3 engineering faculties in Lebanon, and a randomly generated dataset of 1000 author profiles with >1 million citations. Our findings indicate that ERQI provides a more balanced assessment of research quality by reducing the shortcomings of one indicator. Furthermore, it exhibits a multidimensional effect that captures more efficiently the intrinsic value of scholarly contributions. By adopting ERQI, institutions can make informed decisions that recognize both the quantity and quality of an author's research output and can obtain insightful evaluation enabling fairer recognition of academic scholars' impact and innovation.

       Background: Lung cancer (LC) is the second-highest incidence and the first-highest mortality cancer worldwide. Early screening and precise treatment of LC have been the research hotspots in this field. Artificial intelligence (AI) technology has advantages in many aspects of LC and widely used such as LC early diagnosis, LC differential classification, treatment and prognosis prediction.
    Objective: This study aims to analyze and visualize the research history, current status, current hotspots, and development trends of artificial intelligence in the field of lung cancer using bibliometric methods, and predict future research directions and cutting-edge hotspots.
    Results: A total of 2931 articles published between 2003 and 2023 were included, contributed by 15,848 authors from 92 countries/regions. Among them, China (40%) with 1173 papers,USA (24.80%) with 727 papers and the India(10.2%) with 299 papers have made outstanding contributions in this field, accounting for 75% of the total publications. The primary research institutions were Shanghai Jiaotong University(n=66),Chinese Academy of Sciences (n=63) and Harvard Medical School (n=52).Professor Qian Wei(n=20) from Northeastern University in China were ranked first in the top 10 authors while Armato SG(n=458 citations) was the most co-cited authors. Frontiers in Oncology(121 publications; IF 2022,4.7; Q2) was the most published journal. while Radiology (3003 citations; IF 2022, 19.7; Q1) was the most co-cited journal. different countries and institutions should further strengthen cooperation between each other. The most common keywords were lung cancer, classification, cancer, machine learning and deep learning. Meanwhile, The most cited papers was Nicolas Coudray et al.2018.NAT MED(1196 Total Citations).
    Conclusions: Research related to AI in lung cancer has significant application prospects, and the number of scholars dedicated to AI-related research on lung cancer is continually growing. It is foreseeable that non-invasive diagnosis and precise minimally invasive treatment through deep learning and machine learning will remain a central focus in the future. Simultaneously, there is a need to enhance collaboration not only among various countries and institutions but also between high-quality medical and industrial entities.

      Biochar usage for removing heavy metals from aqueous environments has emerged as a promising research area with significant environmental and economic benefits. Using the PICO approach, the research question aimed to explore using biochar to remove heavy metals from aqueous media. We merged the data from Scopus and the Web of Science Core Collection databases to acquire a comprehensive perspective of the subject. The PRISMA guidelines were applied to establish the search parameters, identify the appropriate articles, and collect the bibliographic information from the publications between 2010 and 2022. The bibliometric analysis showed that biochar-based heavy metal remediation is a research field with increasing scholarly attention. The removal of Cr(VI), Pb(II), Cd(II), and Cu(II) was the most studied among the heavy metals. We identified five main clusters centered on adsorption, water treatment, adsorption models, analytical techniques, and hydrothermal carbonization by performing keyword co-occurrence analysis. Trending topics include biochar reusability, modification, acid mine drainage (AMD), wastewater treatment, and hydrochar. The reutilization of heavy metal-loaded spent biochar includes transforming it into electrodes for supercapacitors or stable catalyst materials. This study provides a comprehensive overview of biochar-based heavy metal remediation in aquatic environments and highlights knowledge gaps and future research directions.

      Precision oncology and pharmacogenomics (PGx) intersect in their overarching goal to institute the right treatment for the right patient. However, the translation of these innovations into clinical practice is still lagging behind. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the current state of research and to predict the future directions of applied PGx in the field of precision oncology as represented by the targeted therapy class of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). Advanced bibliometric and scientometric analyses of the literature were performed. The Scopus database was used for the search, and articles published between 2001 and 2023 were extracted. Information about productivity, citations, cluster analysis, keyword co-occurrence, trend topics, and thematic evolution were generated. A total of 448 research articles were included in this analysis. A burst of scholarly activity in the field was noted by the year 2005, peaking in 2017, followed by a remarkable decline to date. Research in the field was hallmarked by consistent and impactful international collaboration, with the US leading in terms of most prolific country, institutions, and total link strength. Thematic evolution in the field points in the direction of more specialized studies on applied pharmacokinetics of available and novel TKIs, particularly for the treatment of lung and breast cancers. Our results delineate a significant advancement in the field of PGx in precision oncology. Notwithstanding the practical challenges to these applications at the point of care, further research, standardization, infrastructure development, and informed policymaking are urgently needed to ensure widespread adoption of PGx.

       Objectives: Research on technology-enhanced higher education (TEHE) has been active and influential in educational technology. The study had three objectives: (1) to recognize the tendencies in the field and the contributing countries/regions/institutions, (2) to visualize scientific collaborations, and (3) to reveal important research topics, their developmental tendencies, correlations, and distributions across contributing countries/regions/institutions.
    Methods: We collected 609 papers in relation to TEHE from 2004 to 2022 and analyzed them using text mining and bibliometric methods. Specifically, we focused on determining article trends, identifying contributing institutions/countries/regions, visualizing scientific collaborations through social network analysis, and revealing the important topics and their conceptual evolutions over time using topic models, Mann-Kendall trend test, hierarchical clustering, and Sankey visualization.
    Results: Regarding the first objective, TEHE articles have grown consistently and will continue to expand. This growth was due to the contributions of Spanish universities and institutions from other countries/regions such as the USA, the UK, Australia, Germany, China, and Turkey. Regarding the second objective, the exploration of regional and institutional collaborations through social networks revealed that geographically adjacent institutions tended to foster close collaborations, particularly among those sharing similar research interests. Nevertheless, more cross-regional collaborations are needed to advance TEHE research. Regarding the third objective, the analysis of topics highlighted research hotspots and emerging themes such as Massive Online Open Courses, AI and big data in education, Gamification and engagement, Learning effectiveness and strategies, Social networks and discussion forums, COVID-19 and online learning, and Plagiarism detection and learning analytics.
    Conclusions: This bibliometric study comprehensively analyzed the research landscape of TEHE research regarding contributors, collaborations, and research topics, and offers a glimpse into what the future may hold. It can be used as a guide for contributors to the field to identify the current research hotspots and emerging themes.

       Introduction: The influence of physical frailty and sarcopenia (PFS) on the well-being of older people and continuous pressure on the healthcare systems has prompted a research on the pathophysiology and molecular mechanisms of these conditions. Nonetheless some biomarkers have been suggested as potential markers for PFS none of them have been shown to highlight the complex nature of PFS, which reveals that there is a need for an understanding of the possible biomarker candidates. The aim of this study was to identify the current research hotspots, status, and trends in the field of biomarkers and molecular mechanisms for PFS.
    Methods: The bibliometric and scientometric analyses were performed using VOSviewer (version 1.6.18) and open source software platform Cytoscape v.3.9 (for visualizing and constructing a network of keywords). Data of publications (from 1997 to 2023) related to biomarkers and molecular mechanisms of PFS were obtained (in May 2023) from the database of Science Citation Index Expanded of Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed. The keywords obtained from the Scopus database were used to perform a meaningful keyword analysis. A network of keyword relationships was build using Cytoscape.
    Results: In this study, we present biomarker keywords for PFS in relation to other keywords potentially designating processes and mechanisms and reveal the biomarker identities and current contexts in which these biomarker identities are discussed.
    Conclusions: Over recent years, scientific interest in the field of PFS has increased and focused on the inflammatory process and probably will be concentrated on myokines (such as cytokines and small proteins) that are synthetized and released by skeletal muscles in response to physical activity. Moreover, proteomic and genetic markers are deeply involved in PFS.

       Objectives: to provide objective quantitative data about medical-related scientific production in Hispanic Latin America compared to different regions and identify demographic and political variables that could improve research.
    Study design: This is an analytical, observational, cross-section bibliometric study about all fields of medical-related scientific production over five years in different regions and its relationship with demographic and political variables that could impact research and the health system quality.
    Methods: Data on the total scientific production of all Hispanic Latin American countries and other countries representing almost 90% of mundial publications between 2017 and 2021 were retrieved from the PubMed database. Demographic and political data were obtained from open online databases. Counts of publications were rationed to population and analyzed with all other demographic, region, and language variables, using univariate Poisson regression and negative binomial regression (for over-disperse variables) analysis. Multivariate negative binomial regression was used to analyze the combined effect of variables related to the healthcare and research Sectors.
    Results: Hispanic Latin America increased yearly from 29,445 publications in 2017 to 47,053 in 2021. This cumulative growth of almost 60% exceeded the 36% increment in all countries' publications and was only below that of Russia and China, which grew 92% and 87%, respectively. Negative binomial regression showed that the percentage of gross income dedicated to research (IRR 2.036, 95% CI: 1.624, 2.553, p< .001), life expectancy at birth (IRR 1.444, 95% CI: 1.338, 1.558, p< .001), and the number of medical doctors per inhabitant (IRR 1.581, 95% CI: 1.17, 2.13, p = .003) positively impacted scientific production. A higher mortality associated with chronic diseases between ages 30 and 70 (IRR 0.782, 95% CI: 0.743 0.822, p< .001) and a lower population with access to medicine (IRR 0.960, 95% CI: 0.933, 0.967, p< .001) were found to impact scientific production negatively. Hispanic Latin American countries published less than 20% of those with English as their native language (p< .001).
    Conclusion: Hispanic Latin America has increased the gross number of publications by almost 60 % from 2017 to 2021. However, the number of publications per 100,000 inhabitants is still low compared to other countries. Our analysis highlights that this may be related to lower GDP, research investment, and less healthcare system quality.

       Background: Migraine imposes a substantial global burden, impacting patients and society. Pharmacotherapy, as a primary treatment, entails specific adverse reactions. Emphasizing these reactions is pivotal for improving treatment strategies and enhancing patients' well-being. Thus, we conducted a comprehensive bibliometric and visual analysis of relevant literature.
    Methodology: We conducted a comprehensive search on the Science Citation Index Expanded within the Web of Science, restricting the literature for analysis based on criteria such as document type, publication date, and language. Subsequently, we utilized various analytical tools, including VOSviewer, Scimago Graphica, the R package 'bibliometrix', CiteSpace, and Excel programs, for a meticulous examination and systematic organization of data concerning journals, authors, countries/regions, institutions, keywords, and references.
    Results: By August 31, 2023, the literature was distributed across 379 journals worldwide, authored by 4,235 individuals from 1726 institutions. It featured 2,363 keywords and 38,412 references. 'HEADACHE' led in publication count, with 'SILBERSTEIN S' as the most prolific author. The United States ranked highest in publication volume, with 'UNIV COPENHAGEN' leading among institutions.
    Conclusion: Our research findings indicate that researchers in the field continue to maintain a focus on the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) system and explore diverse mechanisms for drug development through the application of novel biotechnological approaches. Furthermore, it is imperative to enhance the assessment of clinical trial outcomes, consistently monitor the efficacy and safety of prominent drugs such as Erenumab and Fremanezumab. There is a need for further evaluation of acute and preventive treatments tailored to different populations and varying types of migraine.

      With the environmental and societal changes, the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the realization of sustainability in general is now more important than ever. Through a bibliometric analysis and scientific mapping analysis, this study aims to explore and provide a review regarding the role of artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence of things (AIoT) in realizing sustainable development and achieving SDGs. AIoT can be defined as the combination of AI with IoT to create more efficient and data-driven interconnected, intelligent, and autonomous IoT systems and infrastructure that use AI methods and algorithms. The analysis involved 9182 documents from Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) from 1989 to 2022. Descriptive statistics of the related documents and the annual scientific production were explored. The most relevant and impactful authors, articles, outlets, affiliations, countries, and keywords were identified. The most popular topics and research directions throughout the years and the advancement of the field and the research focus were also examined. The study examines the results, discusses the main findings, presents open issues, and suggests new research directions. Based on the results of this study, AIoT emerged as an important contributor in ensuring sustainability and in achieving SDGs.

      Developmental scientists have adopted numerous biomarkers in their research to better understand the biological underpinnings of development, environmental exposures, and variation in long-term health. Yet, adoption patterns merit investigation given the substantial resources used to collect, analyse, and train to use biomarkers in research with infants and children. We document trends in use of 90 biomarkers between 2000 and 2020 from approximately 430,000 publications indexed by the Web of Science. We provide a tool for researchers to examine each of these biomarkers individually using a data-driven approach to estimate the biomarker growth trajectory based on yearly publication number, publication growth rate, number of author affiliations, National Institutes of Health dedicated funding resources, journal impact factor, and years since the first publication. Results indicate that most biomarkers fit a "learning curve" trajectory (i.e., experience rapid growth followed by a plateau), though a small subset decline in use over time.

      The concerns with the environment and sustainability have promoted options for energy sources that mitigate the footprint of human life. The use of biomass from agriculture, forestry and other land uses (AFOLU) has enormous potential for the production of bioenergy as a renewable source of energy. In this context, this research aims to analyse the interrelationships between bioenergy and agriculture, forestry and other land uses, highlighting the contributions of the digital transition for these dimensions. To achieve these objectives, a bibliometric analysis through co-citation links (and items related to cited authors, references and sources) was carried out for the dimensions associated with the bioenergy and the AFOLU and after a specific literature survey was performed for the contributions from the digital transition for these frameworks. With this study, top authors, references and sources were identified for the topics assessed and it was highlighted the importance of digital transitions for more efficient bioenergy use and production in the worldwide contexts.

      To analyze the research hotspots, frontiers and trends of fire needle clinical randomized controlled trial (RCT) literature in the past 10 years by using bibliometrics and knowledge mapping methods. Six Chinese and English databases including CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed and Web of Science ( WOS ) were searched for RCT research literature on fire needle. CiteSpace V6.1.R6 and VOSviewer V1.6.18 software were used to analyze the cooperation network, keyword co-occurrence, keyword clustering, keyword timeline, keyword emergence, etc., and to draw a visual knowledge map. A total of 1 973 Chinese articles and 3 English articles were included. The top three institutions that publish articles were Guangzhou University of CM, Heilongjiang University of CM and Beijing Hospital of TCM Affiliated to Capital Medical University. The fire needle was often combined with acupuncture, cupping and bloodletting therapy in the treatment of acne, vitiligo, lumbar disc herniation, herpes zoster, stroke sequelae, facial paralysis, knee osteoarthritis and so on. The research frontiers included the combined application of fire needle and other therapies, clinical mechanism research and efficacy evaluation index research. In the future, we should expand the dominant diseases, optimize the research design, strengthen the cooperation between the teams, and carry out high-level clinical research.

       OBJECTIVES: To find what proportion of a broad set of health journals have published on climate change and health, how many articles they have published, and when they first published on the subject.
    DESIGN: Bibliometric study.
    SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS: We conducted electronic searches in Ovid MEDLINE ALL for articles about climate change and human health published from 1860 to 31 December 2022 in 330 health journals. There were no limits by language or publication type. Results were independently screened by two raters for article eligibility.
    RESULTS: After screening there were 2932 eligible articles published across 253 of the 330 journals between 1947 and 2022; most (2795/2932; 95%) were published in English. A few journals published articles in the early 90s, but there has been a rapid increase since about 2006. We were unable to categorise the types of publication but estimate that fewer than half are research papers. While articles were published in journals in 39 countries, two-thirds (1929/2932; 66%) were published in a journal published in the UK or the USA. Almost a quarter (77/330; 23%) of the journals published no eligible articles, and almost three-quarters (241/330; 73%) published five articles or fewer. The publication of joint editorials in over 200 journals in 2021 and 2022 boosted the number of journals publishing something on climate change and health. A third of the (112/330; 34%) journals in our sample published at least one of the joint editorials, and almost a third of those (32/112; 29%) were publishing on climate change and health for the first time.
    CONCLUSIONS: Health journals are rapidly increasing the amount they publish on climate change and health, but despite climate change being the major threat to global health many journals had until recently published little or nothing. A joint editorial published in multiple journals increased coverage, and for many journals it was the first thing they published on climate change and health.

      This study uses the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) approach to curate many papers and select documents according to specific qualifications to include in a systematic literature review. At the identification stage, there are 1221 abstract documents showing their relation to online grocery shopping. Furthermore, the researcher selected 571 Scopus abstracts at the screening stage, and then through the VOS Viewers software, the researchers conducted a bibliometric analysis. The bibliometric analysis in this study aims to find trending topics and research gaps in online grocery shopping. At the eligibility stage, there are 170 full-text articles related to the issue of online grocery shopping; until the last stage, through manual selection, the researcher determined 43 full-text articles that met the qualifications for in-depth analysis using a systematic literature review approach. The research findings state that there are several main topics on online grocery shopping, such as customer segmentation and shopping preferences, grocery online shopping behavior, and intentions on online grocery shopping. The findings of this study explain the factors that influence the decision to use online grocery shopping that become a reference for further research to design a model of online grocery shopping intentions.

       PURPOSE:  To investigate if radiology researchers are increasingly promoting their scientific findings by more frequently using positive words in their publications.
    MATERIALS AND METHODS:  This study included all articles that were published in 14 general radiology journals between 2003 and 2022. The title and abstract of each article were assessed for the presence of positive, negative, neutral, and random words, according to predefined sets of words for each category. Usage of positive, negative, neutral, and random words was calculated for each year and corrected for the total number of articles in each year. Temporal trends between 2002 and 2023 and the relationship between positive word usage and journal impact factor (IF) were assessed.
    RESULTS:  Positive word usage (Mann-Kendall tau of 0.895, P< 0.001) and neutral word usage (Mann-Kendall tau of 0.463, P = 0.005) showed significant upward temporal trends. Negative word usage and random word usage did not show any significant temporal trends. Five positive words showed significantly increased usage over time and were present in more than 1 % of titles/abstracts in at least one year: "excellent" (Mann-Kendall tau of 0.800, P< 0.001), "favorable" (Mann-Kendall tau of 0.547, P< 0.001), "promising" (Mann-Kendall tau of 0.607, P< 0.001), "robust" (Mann-Kendall tau of 0.737, P< 0.001), and "unique" (Mann-Kendall tau of 0.747, P< 0.001). There was no significant association between positive word usage and journal IF.
    CONCLUSION:  Radiology researchers appear to increasingly promote their scientific findings by more frequently using positive words in their publications over the past two decades.

      Electrocatalytic methods are valuable tools for addressing water pollution and scarcity, offering effective pollutant removal and resource recovery. To investigate the current status and future trends of electrocatalysis in wastewater treatment, a detailed analysis of 9417 papers and 4061 patents was conducted using scientometric methods. China emerged as the leading contributor to publications, and collaborations between China and the USA have emerged as the most frequent partnerships. Primary article co-citation clusters focused on oxygen evolution reaction and electrochemical oxidation, transitioning towards advanced oxidation processes ("persulfate activation"), and electrocatalytic reduction processes ("nitrate reduction"). Bifunctional catalysts, theoretical calculations, electrocatalytic combination technologies, and emerging contaminants were identified as current research hotspots. Patent analysis revealed seven types of electrochemical technologies, which were compared using SWOT analysis, highlighting electrochemical oxidation as prominent. The technological evolution presented the pathway of electro-Fenton to combined electrocatalytic technologies with biochemical processes, and finally to coupling with electrocoagulation. Standardized evaluation systems, waste resource utilization, and energy conservation were important directions of innovation in electrocatalytic technologies. Overall, this study provided a reference for researchers to understand the framework of electrocatalysis in wastewater treatment and also shed light on potential avenues for further innovation in the field.

The demographics, degrees, and scholarly output of DO PRS trainees were compared to that of Doctors of Medicine (MDs) to identify areas of focus which could be used to increase competitiveness of DO applications.
    DESIGN: A cross-sectional study was created, including ACGME-accredited PRS program trainees during the 2020 to 2021 academic year. DO and MD trainee demographics and scholarly accomplishments were compared using t-test and chi-squared analysis.
    SETTING: Web-based publicly available information was collected for subjects.
    PARTICIPANTS: A total of 1092 PRS MD and DO trainees were identified. DOs made up only 2.7% (n = 30) and MDs made up 97.3% (n = 1062).
    RESULTS: More DOs trained in independent programs (63.3%) than integrated (36.7%) compared to MDs (88.2% v. 11.8%, p < 0.001) and more DOs trained at lower ranked PRS programs (60.0% of DOs and 18.1% of MDs trained at Q4 programs, p < 0.001). DOs had fewer publications (median, IQR: 1, [0-2]) compared to MDs (3, [1-8]), fewer citations (0, [0-6]) vs. (10, [1-56]) and lower H-index (1, [0-1]) vs. (1, [1-3]).
    CONCLUSION: DO candidates should consider research years in the field of PRS and optimize clinical experience opportunities to increase the competitiveness of their PRS applications. Special attention should be paid to providing networking and research opportunities to DOs who lack home institutions.

      As the world's largest carbon sink, the oceans are essential to achieving the 1.5 °C target. Marine ecosystems play a crucial role in the "sink enhancement" process. A deeper comprehension of research trends, hotspots, and the boundaries of ocean carbon sinks is necessary for a more effective response to climate change. To this end, academic literature in the field of ocean carbon sinks was investigated and analyzed using the core database of the Web of Science. The results show that (1) The ocean carbon sink is a global study. The number of literatures in the field of ocean carbon sinks is growing, and the USA and China are the main leaders, with the USA accounting for 31.19% of the global publications and China accounting for 26.57% of the global publications, and the environmental science discipline is the most popular in this field. (2) Keyword burst detection shows that the keywords "sink, sensitivity, land, dynamics, and seagrass" appear earliest and have high burst intensity, which are the hot spots of research in this field; the keyword clustering shows that the global ocean carbon sinks research mainly focuses on three themes: (i) carbon cycle and climate change; (ii) carbon sinks estimation models and techniques; and (iii) carbon sinks capacity and ocean biological carbon sequestration in different seas. Finally, targeted research recommendations are proposed to further match the ocean carbon sink research.

       Introduction: Early reading has gained significant attention in the academic community. With the increasing volume of literature on this subject, it has become crucial to assess the current research landscape and identify emerging trends.
    Methods: This study utilized the dynamic topic model to analyze a corpus of 1,638 articles obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection to furnish a lucid understanding of the prevailing research and forecast possible future directions.
    Results: Our in-depth assessment discerned 11 cardinal topics, among which notable ones were interventions' impacts on early reading competencies; foundational elements of early reading: phonological awareness, letters, and, spelling; and early literacy proficiencies in children with autism spectrum disorder. Although most topics have received consistent research attention, there has been a marked increase in some topics' popularity, such as foundational elements of early reading and early literary proficiencies in children with autism spectrum disorder. Conversely, other topics exhibited a downturn.
    Discussion: This analytical endeavor has yielded indispensable insights for scholars, decision-makers, and field practitioners, steering them toward pivotal research interrogatives, focal interest zones, and prospective research avenues. As per our extensive survey, this paper is a pioneering holistic purview of the seminal areas of early reading that highlights expected scholarly directions.

      Coal-fired power plants (CFPPs) are one of the most significant sources of mercury (Hg) emissions certified by the Minamata Convention, which has attracted much attention in recent years. In this study, we used the Web of Science and CiteSpace to analyze the knowledge structure of this field from 2000 to 2022 and then reviewed it systematically. The field of Hg emissions from coal-fired power plants has developed steadily. The research hotspots can be divided into three categories: (1) emission characterization research focused on speciation changes and emission calculations; (2) emission control research focused on control technologies; (3) environmental impact research focused on environmental pollution and health risk. In conclusion, using an oxygen-rich atmosphere for combustion and installing high-efficiency air pollution control devices (APCDs) helped to reduce the formation of Hg0. The average Hg removal rates of APCDs and modified adsorbents after ultra-low emission retrofit were distributed in the range of 82-93% and 41-100%, respectively. The risk level of Hg in combustion by-products was highest in desulfurization sludge (RAC > 10%) followed by fly ash (10% < RAC < 30%) and desulfurization gypsum (1% < RAC < 10%). Additionally, we found that the implementation of pollution and carbon reduction policies in China had reduced Hg emissions from CFPPs by 45% from 2007 to 2015, increased the efficiency of Hg removal from APCDs to a maximum of 96%, and reduced global transport and health risk of atmospheric Hg. The results conjunctively achieved by CiteSpace, and the literature review will enhance understanding of CFPP Hg emission research and provide new perspectives for future research.

      Digital twin technology has become increasingly popular and has revolutionized data integration and system modeling across various industries, such as manufacturing, energy, and healthcare. This study aims to explore the evolving research landscape of digital twins using Keyword Co-occurrence Network (KCN) analysis. We analyze metadata from 9639 peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2023. The results unfold in two parts. The first part examines trends and keyword interconnection over time, and the second part maps sensing technology keywords to six application areas. This study reveals that research on digital twins is rapidly diversifying, with focused themes such as predictive and decision-making functions. Additionally, there is an emphasis on real-time data and point cloud technologies. The advent of federated learning and edge computing also highlights a shift toward distributed computation, prioritizing data privacy. This study confirms that digital twins have evolved into complex systems that can conduct predictive operations through advanced sensing technologies. The discussion also identifies challenges in sensor selection and empirical knowledge integration.

       OBJECTIVES: The study of healthcare-seeking behavior is essential for optimizing resource allocation and improving healthcare services. Its complexity and diversity have made it a prominent research area. Understanding factors influencing healthcare-seeking decisions allows targeted interventions and policy development to address barriers and ensure equitable access to quality healthcare for diverse populations. Such research plays a vital role in enhancing healthcare outcomes and overall population health.
    METHODS: The study utilized a systematic quantitative literature review approach, employing the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection and PubMed databases as data sources. Additionally, bibliometric tools such as CiteSpace and VOSviewer were employed for analysis and visualization of the literature.
    RESULTS: A comprehensive statistical analysis and visualization were performed on the annual publication volume, publication countries, journals, keywords, and keyword co-occurrence patterns up until 2023. Through this analysis, a framework was established, identifying the determinants and fundamental elements of healthcare-seeking behavior. These findings contribute to the advancement of research in this field and inform future studies and interventions aimed at improving healthcare-seeking behavior.
    CONCLUSIONS: Based on the aforementioned literature review and framework, several conclusions were drawn. The determinants that facilitate healthcare-seeking behavior include improving health education awareness, enhancing healthcare resources, reducing costs, and ensuring system soundness. Additionally, providing social environment support was found to be crucial. Furthermore, the fundamental elements of healthcare-seeking behavior were identified as healthcare demand, healthcare choices, and the process of diagnosis and treatment. These findings provide valuable insights for developing interventions and policies to promote optimal healthcare-seeking behavior.

      There has been a substantial growth in India's publications in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in the last few years. In 2022, it ranked number one in South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations, number three among Asian countries, and number 14 globally. Its global contribution in the 1996-2022 period was 1.39%, as compared to 6.56% of China (4.72 times lesser), but this gap has reduced in 2022, where India's contribution increased to 2.82%, as compared to 6.32% from China (2.24 times lesser). More concrete efforts are needed to boost the research output from India to further enhance the quantum and quality of publications. It is recommended that adequate research funding and collaboration (national and international) is needed on priority to meet these demands and try to ensure that no good research is wasted, without a publication.

      Addictive substances are prevalent world-wide, and their use presents a substantial and persistent public health problem. A wide range of digital interventions to decrease use and negative consequences thereof have been explored, differing in approach, theoretical grounding, use of specific technologies, and more. The current study was designed to comprehensively map the recent (2015-2022) extant literature in a systematic manner, and to identify neglected and emerging knowledge gaps. Four major databases (Medline, Web of Science Core Collection, and PsychInfo) were searched using database-specific search strategies, combining terms related to clinical presentation (alcohol, tobacco or other drug use), technology and aim. After deduplication, the remaining n=13,917 unique studies published were manually screened in two stages, leaving a final n=3,056 studies, the abstracts of which were subjected to a tailored coding scheme. Findings revealed an accelerating rate of publications in this field, with randomized trials being the most common study type. Several meta-analyses on the topic have now been published, revealing promising and robust effects. Digital interventions are being offered on numerous levels, from targeted prevention to specialized clinics. Detailed coding was at times made difficult by inconsistent use of specific terms, which has important implications for future meta-analyses. Moreover, we identify several gaps in the extant literature - few health economic assessments, unclear descriptions of interventions, weak meta-analytic support for some type of interventions, and limited research on many target groups, settings and new interventions like video calls, chatbots and artificial intelligence - that we argue are important to address in future research.
