       Aims: We conducted bibliometric and visualization analyses to evaluate the current research status, hotspots, and trends related to the human microbiota markers in colorectal cancer screening.
    Methods: The related studies were acquired from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database on 5 January 2023. Analyses of the co-occurrence and cooperation relationships between the cited authors, institutions, countries/regions, cited journals, cited articles, and keywords in the studies were carried out using CiteSpace 5.8.R3 software and the Online Analysis platform of Literature Metrology. Additionally, relevant knowledge graphs were drawn to perform visualization analyses; a keywords cluster analysis and a burst analysis were also conducted.
    Results: After analyzing 700 relevant articles, this bibliometric analysis found that the annual publications showed an increasing trend from 1992 to 2022. Yu Jun from the Chinese University of Hong Kong had the highest cumulative number of publications, whereas Shanghai Jiao Tong University was the most productive institution. China and the USA have contributed the largest number of studies. The keywords frequency analysis demonstrated that "colorectal cancer," "gut microbiota," "Fusobacterium nucleatum," "risk," and "microbiota" were the most frequent keywords, and the keywords cluster analysis found that the current hotspots were as follows: (a) the precancerous lesions of colorectal cancer (CRC) that need to be screened, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and advanced adenoma, (b) the gut-derived microbiome for CRC screening, and (c) the early detection of CRC. The burst analysis further showed that the combination of microbiomics with metabolomics might be the future research trend in the field of CRC screening.
    Conclusion: The findings of the current bibliometric analysis firstly provide an insight into the current research status, hotspots, and future trends in the field of CRC screening based on the microbiome; the research in this field is becoming more in-depth and diversified. Some human microbiota markers, especially "Fusobacterium nucleatum," are promising biomarkers in CRC screening, and a future hotspot might be the combined analysis of microbiomics and metabolomics for CRC risk screening.

       Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a highly prevalent cancer, and the global healthcare system bears a significant burden due to its incidence. Modulating the gut microbiota is a promising approach to enhance the efficacy of CRC treatment and reduce its adverse effects. The causal relationship between specific microorganisms' presence and CRC development has been widely validated. However, few studies have investigated this relationship using bibliometric methods. Therefore, this study analyzed the research hotspots and trends in human gut microbiology and CRC over the last two decades from a bibliometric perspective. The study aims to provide novel insights into basic and clinical research in this field.
    Methods: The articles and reviews on gut microbiota in CRC were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) on November 2, 2022. CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to conduct the bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis.
    Results: A total of 2,707 publications were obtained, with a rapid increase in the number of publications since 2015. The United States and China are the main contributors in this field and have established a network of partnerships in several countries. 414 academic journals have published articles on this topic. The author with the highest number of publications is Jun Yu from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In addition to "intestinal flora" and "colorectal cancer," high frequency terms in the keyword co-occurrence network analysis included inflammatory bowel disease, Fusobacterium nucleatum, inflammation, long-chain fatty acids, ulcerative colitis, bile acids, and resistant starch. Analysis of keyword trends using burst testing revealed that biomarkers, abnormal crypt foci, bifidobacteria, β-glucuronidase, short-chain fatty acids, bile acids, and DNA methylation are at the forefront of research in this area.
    Conclusion: The findings of this study provide a bibliometric analysis and visualization of the key research areas in gut microbiota and CRC over the past 20 years. The results suggest that the role of gut microbiota in CRC and its underlying mechanisms should be closely monitored, particularly in the areas of biomarkers, metabolic pathways, and DNA methylation, which may emerge as hot topics in this field.

       Objectives: To determine which original articles on the topic of the medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) have been cited the most in the literature utilizing a bibliometric approach. Secondarily, to determine temporal trends between article types.
    Methods: Articles on the topic of the MPFL were identified by utilizing the Web of Science Database. The search yielded 1596 results and the top 50 cited original articles were collected for further analysis. The following information was gathered for all included articles: title, first author's name, journal name, year of publication, impact factor of the journal in 2021, total number of citations of the article, average citations per year (ACY), geographic origin, institutions, research theme, and keywords. Articles were then grouped into one of three categories: cadaveric/anatomic, clinical, and radiologic.
    Results: The total number of citations was 10,393. Most were published between the years 2000-2009 (66%) and in the journal, American Journal of Sports Medicine (34%). The mean ACY was 11.73 ± standard deviation 5.86 and the Kawasaki Municipal Hospital was the institution with the most articles included in the top 50 (n = 6, 12%). The top-cited articles focused on 3 themes: cadaveric/anatomic (n = 18, 36%), clinical (n = 25, 50%), and radiologic (n = 7, 14%). Cadaveric/anatomic articles had the highest average number of citations at 271.4 ± 153.9, followed by radiologic (173.3 ± 53.0) and clinical articles (171.8 ± 102.4). Over time, clinical articles were more likely to be included in the top 50 list, compared to cadaveric/anatomic/radiologic articles.
    Conclusion: The most impactful MPFL articles relate to cadaveric/anatomic articles; however, over time, clinical articles became more prevalent.

      Research has shown that neoadjuvant immunotherapy may provide more significant clinical benefits to cancer patients undergoing surgery than adjuvant therapy. This study examines the development of neoadjuvant immunotherapy research using bibliometric analysis. As of February 12, 2023, articles on neoadjuvant immunotherapy in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) were collected. Co-authorship and keyword co-occurrence analyses and visualizations were performed using VOSviewer, while CiteSpace was used to identify bursting keywords and references. The study analyzed a total of 1,222 neoadjuvant immunotherapy publications. The top contributors to this field were the United States (US), China, and Italy, and the journal with the most publications was Frontiers in Oncology. Francesco Montorsi had the highest H-index. The most common keywords were "immunotherapy" and "neoadjuvant therapy." The study conducted a bibliometric analysis of over 20 years of neoadjuvant immunotherapy research, identifying the countries, institutions, authors, journals, and publications involved in this field. The findings provide a comprehensive overview of neoadjuvant immunotherapy research.

       BACKGROUND: Osteoarthritis, a common degenerative osteochondral disease, has a close relationship between its mechanism of occurrence and oxidative stress. However, there are relatively few relevant studies in this field, and a more mature research system has not yet been formed.
    METHODS: By searching the Web of Science (WOS) database, we obtained 1 412 publications in the field of osteoarthritis and oxidative stress. The search results were then analyzed bibliometrically using Citespace and VOSviewer, including a study of publication trends in the field, analysis of core authors, analysis of countries and institutions with high contributions, analysis of core journals, and to identify research trends and hot spots in the field, we performed keyword clustering.
    RESULTS: We collected 1 412 publications on the field of osteoarthritis and oxidative stress from 1998-2022. By analyzing the publication trends in the field, we noted an exponential increase in the number of publications per year since 2014. We then identified the core authors in the field (Blanco, Francisco J., Loeser, Richard F., Vaamonde-garcia, et.al) as well as the countries (China, USA, Italy et.al) and institutions (Xi An Jiao Tong Univ, Wenzhou Med Univ, Zhejiang Univ et.al). The OSTEOARTHRITIS AND CARTILAGE and INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR SCIENCES contain a large number of research papers in this field, and through keyword co-occurrence analysis, we counted 3 227 keywords appearing in the field of osteoarthritis and oxidative stress. These keywords were clustered into 9 groups, representing 9 different research hotspots.
    CONCLUSIONS: Research in the field of osteoarthritis and oxidative stress has been developing since 1998 and is now maturing, but there is an urgent need to strengthen international academic exchanges and discuss the future focus of research development in the field of osteoarthritis and oxidative stress.

       PURPOSE: Little is known about the scientific literature regarding the new revolutionary tool, ChatGPT. We aim to perform a bibliometric analysis to identify ChatGPT-related publications in obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN).
    STUDY DESIGN: A bibliometric study through PubMed database. We mined all ChatGPT-related publications using the search term "ChatGPT". Bibliometric data were obtained from the iCite database. We performed a descriptive analysis. We further compared IF among publications describing a study vs. other publications.
    RESULTS: Overall, 42 ChatGPT-related publications were published across 26 different journals during 69 days. Most publications were editorials (52%) and news/briefing (22%), with only one (2%) research article identified. Five (12%) publications described a study performed. No ChatGPT-related publications in OBGYN were found. The leading journal by the number of publications was Nature (24%), followed by Lancet Digital Health and Radiology (7%, for both). The main subjects of publications were ChatGPT's scientific writing quality (26%) and a description of ChatGPT (26%) followed by tested performance of ChatGPT (14%), authorship and ethical issues (10% for both topics).In a comparison of publications describing a study performed (n = 5) vs. other publications (n = 37), mean IF was lower in the study-publications (mean 6.25 ± 0 vs. 25.4 ± 21.6, p < .001).
    CONCLUSIONS: The study highlights main trends in ChatGPT-related publications. OBGYN is yet to be represented in this literature.

       Background: Research on exosomes in metabolic diseases has been gaining attention, but a comprehensive and objective report on the current state of research is lacking. This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of publications on "exosomes in metabolic diseases" to analyze the current status and trends of research using visualization methods.
    Methods: The web of science core collection was searched for publications on exosomes in metabolic diseases from 2007 to 2022. Three software packages, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and R package "bibliometrix" were used for the bibliometric analysis.
    Results: A total of 532 papers were analyzed, authored by 29,705 researchers from 46 countries/regions and 923 institutions, published in 310 academic journals. The number of publications related to exosomes in metabolic diseases is gradually increasing. China and the United States were the most productive countries, while Ciber Centro de Investigacion Biomedica en Red was the most active institution. The International Journal of Molecular Sciences published the most relevant studies, and Plos One received the most citations. Khalyfa, Abdelnaby published the most papers and Thery, C was the most cited. The ten most co-cited references were considered as the knowledge base. After analysis, the most common keywords were microRNAs, biomarkers, insulin resistance, expression, and obesity. Applying basic research related on exosomes in metabolic diseases to clinical diagnosis and treatment is a research hotspot and trend.
    Conclusion: This study provides a comprehensive summary of research trends and developments in exosomes in metabolic diseases through bibliometrics. The information points out the research frontiers and hot directions in recent years and will provide a reference for researchers in this field.

       Background: The development of Achilles tendon treatment modalities has been rapid, and it is increasingly difficult for clinicians to stay up to date with the most influential studies in this field. In order to fully understand the current state of the literature regarding Achilles tendon injury, it is invaluable to be familiar with the foundational articles and studies upon which the field is built.
    Purpose: To objectively determine the 50 most frequently cited studies in Achilles tendon pathology and to conduct a bibliometric analysis.
    Study Design: Cross-sectional study.
    Methods: The Clarivate Analytics Web of Knowledge database was used to gather data and metrics of Achilles tendon research. The 50 most cited articles were selected for analysis from an initial 17,244 identified articles. The information extracted for each article included author name, publication year, country of origin, journal name, study type, and level of evidence.
    Results: For these 50 studies, the total number of citations was calculated to be 13,159, with a mean of 263.2 citations per paper. The most cited article collected 657 citations. The publication dates of the 50 studies included in this analysis spanned 41 years (1972-2013). The largest number of articles were published by Swedish authors (n = 14); however, many other countries were represented, including Canada and Finland (n = 6 articles each). The most prevalent study designs were cohort studies (n = 13) with level 4 evidence studies being the most common (n = 14).
    Conclusion: Among the 50 most influential articles in Achilles tendon pathology, the study designs most commonly used were cohort studies and review articles. Sweden was the country of origin for the most studies included on this list, which reflects this country's interest and commitment to researching Achilles tendon injuries and treatments.

       Background: Achilles tendon injuries represent one of the most common reasons for referral to orthopaedic surgeons.
    Purpose: To outline the characteristics, examine trends in publication, and evaluate the correlation between citations and study quality of the 50 most cited articles on Achilles tendon injury.
    Study Design: Cross-sectional study.
    Methods: After searching the Web of Science for articles published in orthopaedic journals, we identified the 50 most cited articles on Achilles tendon injury and abstracted their characteristics. Risk of bias was assessed using the modified Coleman Methodology Score (mCMS). Multiple bivariate analyses (Pearson or Spearman correlation coefficient) were used to evaluate the association among number of citations, citation rate (citations/year), 2020 journal impact factor (JIF), year of publication, level of evidence (LoE), study type (tendon rupture or chronic tendinopathy), sample size, and mCMS.
    Results: The top 50 articles were cited 12,194 times. Each article had a mean ± SD 244 ± 88.8 citations (range, 157-657) and a citation rate of 12.6 ± 5.4 per year (range, 3-28). A total of 35 studies (70%) were published between 2000 and 2010. The citation rate of the 16 most recent studies was almost double that of the 16 oldest studies (17.5 vs 9.9; P < .001). Nineteen studies (49%) were classified as having poor quality (mCMS <50 points). The mean JIF of the 9 journals that published the studies was 5.1. The citation rate correlated with the number of citations (r = 0.56; P < .001), publication year (r = 0.60; P < .001), and LoE (r = -0.44; P = .005). The publication year correlated with the LoE (r = -0.40; P = .01). Study quality in terms of mCMS correlated with the JIF (r = 0.35; P = .03) and LoE (r = -0.48; P = .003) but not the citation rate (P = .15).
    Conclusion: The mean LoE and the citation rate of the most cited articles on Achilles tendon injury both significantly increased over time. Although the JIF was positively correlated with study quality, almost half of the studies had poor-quality methodology.

      Bibliometric analysis provides an accurate report of the quantity and quality of research affiliated with a specific country. We aimed to use bibliometric analysis to evaluate previously published dermatology-related studies from Saudi Arabia (SA). We conducted a retrospective, cross-sectional bibliometric analysis using the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases to retrieve all SA-affiliated dermatology research from the databases' respective dates of conception to July 9, 2021. The number of publications was determined by the total number of articles, the number of times an article was cited, publishing journals, and affiliated institutions. The Hirsch index (h-index) was used to describe the quality of the articles. In total, SA-affiliated dermatologists published 1,319 articles in WoS and Scopus. Approximately half (n=603) of these articles were published in the past six years. According to WoS, the total number of citations was 9,285 with more than half of all citations also occurring in the past six years. The International Journal of Dermatology was associated with the highest number of publications, followed by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. SA had the second-highest number of publications in the Arab world. Our area has recently experienced rapid growth in dermatology publications. We encourage the use of data from the current study to identify the strengths and weaknesses of such publications, to direct researchers and funds to enhance the national growth of dermatology research, and to conduct periodic bibliometric analyses with the aim of assessing the quality and quantity of SA-affiliated publications over time.

      Endodontics is a subdivision of dentistry that deals with diseases and injury of the soft tissues inside the teeth. The current study aimed to investigate the bibliometric properties of endodontics publications contributed by Saudi Arabia from 2010 to 2022. The quantitative bibliometric research method was applied to the meta-data retrieved from the Web of Science on December 7, 2022. The word Endodonti* was written in the main search bar, and from the year's filter, selected starting year 2010 to the date of data collection. In the first phase, to access the global publication growth of endodontics, no country/region filter was used. After getting the summary of the global intellectual landscape, we selected Saudi Arabia from the country/region filter to analyze certain characteristics of endodontics documents. Periodical growth, accessibility modes, collaboration patterns, influential institutions, frequently used sources, international research collaboration, and most-cited documents were analyzed by using Microsoft Excel (v.16) and SPSS (v.20). The authors affiliated with Brazil contributed the highest number of documents and Saudi Arabia stood in the eighth rank in endodontics research. The growing tendency was observed in Saudi Arabia from 1.29% in 2010 to 7.60% in 2022 from a global perspective. The quality of nonopen-accessed documents was higher than open-accessed as per citation impact, similarly, the documents written on international collaboration got a higher ratio of citations compared with national collaboration. King Saud University was found the most prolific institution and the Journal of Endodontics was the most preferred source of publications. The maximum research collaboration at the international level was performed with the authors of the United States. Fifteen most-cited papers obtained 21.42% of the citations. The findings show that endodontics research in Saudi Arabia has increased significantly over the years. The research collaboration at the national level has increased, which shows that teams of national researchers in endodontics have been prepared and conducting valuable research in a national context.

      Oral implantology is a science in constant evolution, with a considerable number of articles being published every year in scientific journals. Publications can be analyzed through bibliometric analysis, thus observing the evolution and trends of the articles published in the journal. To evaluate, through bibliometric analysis, the scientific production of Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research (CIDRR) and its evolution and trends in the last 5 years (2016-2020).All articles published in CIDRR in the last 5 years were reviewed and classified according to the year of publication, volume, number, the number of authors, demographic data of the first and last author, the geographical scope of the article, the number of affiliations of the authors, research topic, type of study, and study design. The association between these variables and citation counts was also analyzed. 599 articles were analyzed. 77.4% were authored by 4-6 authors, obtaining 78.4% from 1 to 3 different affiliations. Male researchers predominated in both the first and last authorship. China showed the highest number of publications when comparing the origin of the authors' affiliations individually; however, most researchers (40.9%) were from the European Union (EU)-Western Europe area. The most studied topic was the implant/abutment design/treatment of the surface (19.1%). Clinical research articles accounted for 92.99% of the publications, of which cross-sectional observational studies prevailed (21.7%). The presence of articles from the United States of America-Canada and EU-Western Europe was positively correlated with the impact factor. This study revealed an increasing trend in Asian research production, particularly Chinese, whereas production of European origin showed a decrease. Clinical studies increased their relative weight to the detriment of translational ones. A growing tendency in the relative weights of female authors was appreciated. Journal citations were associated with certain study variables.

       INTRODUCTION: Bibliometric analysis allow the quantitative evaluation of the characteristics of a scientific publication.
    OBJECTIVE: To perform a bibliometric analysis of original articles in the journal Enfermería Intensiva from 2001 to 2020.
    RESULTS: The journal Enfermería Intensiva has published, between 2001 and 2020, 438 works, of which 259 are original articles (59.1%). These original articles are mostly quantitative studies (76.1%), with an average of 30.5 bibliographic references (SD 13.9), 4.9 citations (SD 1.7) in the Web of Science and Scopus repertoires, and 15,489.5 visits/downloads (median 9090 and interquartile range 4567-15,260) according to information on the magazine's website. These originals have been signed by 1345 authors, which represents a collaboration index of 5.2. 78.0% of the authors are sporadic, having published only one work. Most of the articles come from authors who work in institutionally located in hospitals and university centers, and geographically in the Communities of Madrid, Cataluña, Navarra and Andalucía.
    CONCLUSIONS: There is little international, regional and institutional collaboration, producing the highest level of collaboration between authors from the same center. The journal has established itself in the panorama of scientific nursing research in Spain and shows bibliometric indicators similar or even superior to other publications in its environment.

       BACKGROUND: The number of citations a paper receives reflects its impact on the scientific community. We aimed to identify and explore the characteristics of the most cited papers on total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC).
    METHODS: Web of Science Core Collection Expanded Science Citation Index (1900 to present) was searched and papers on TAPVC were reviewed. Articles were ranked by the number of citations and the 100 most cited papers were analyzed.
    RESULTS: The 100 most cited papers were published between 1952 and 2018 with a mean number of citations of 52 (range 26 to 148). The 1990s was the most productive decade. All articles except one were written in English. The 100 most cited articles were published in 24 journals, led by Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (21 articles), followed by Annals of Thoracic Surgery (20 articles), and Circulation (16 articles). The United States of America contributed most of the 100 most cited papers (60 articles). Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto led the list of citation classics with six papers. Christopher A. Caldarone, John W. Kirklin, and P. E. F. Daubeney were the most productive authors with 3 articles each. More than half of the papers were cohort studies (51 articles). Surgery, radiology and etiology were the main topics. Thirty-one articles were funded by public foundations, and none received support from commercial companies.
    CONCLUSIONS: The bibliometric analysis gives a historical perspective on scientific progress in the field of TAPVC and lays the foundation for future research.

       AIM: To make a bibliometric analysis on post-traumatic growth (PTG) after childbirth.
    METHODS: The topic advanced search strategy extracted the information from the Web of Science Core Collection. Descriptive statistics were performed using Excel, and bibliometric analysis was performed using VOSviewer.
    RESULTS: A total of 362 publications were published in 199 journals were obtained in the WoSCC from 1999 to 2022. Postpartum post-traumatic growth is in a trend of fluctuating growth, and the United States (N = 156) and Bar-Ilan University (N = 22) were the top contributing countries and institutions, respectively. Research hotspots mainly focus on theoretical models of PTG, postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a predictor of PTG, facilitators of PTG, and the relationship between mother-infant attachment and PTG.
    CONCLUSION: This bibliometric study provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of research on PTG after childbirth, an area that has received considerable scholarly attention in recent years. However, research on post-traumatic growth after childbirth is lacking, and further research is needed.

       Background: Since the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread throughout the world, many studies on innate immunity in COVID-19 have been published, and great progress has been achieved, while bibliometric analysis on hotspots and research trends in this field remains lacking.
    Methods: On 17 November 2022, articles and reviews on innate immunity in COVID-19 were recruited from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database after papers irrelevant to COVID-19 were further excluded. The number of annual publications and the average citations per paper were analyzed by Microsoft Excel. Bibliometric analysis and visualization of the most prolific contributors and hotspots in the field were performed by VOSviewer and CiteSpace software.
    Results: There were 1,280 publications that met the search strategy on innate immunity in COVID-19 and were published from 1 January 2020 to 31 October 2022. Nine hundred thirteen articles and reviews were included in the final analysis. The USA had the highest number of publications (Np) at 276 and number of citations without self-citations (Nc) at 7,085, as well as an H-index of 42, which contributed 30.23% of the total publications, followed by China (Np: 135, Nc: 4,798, and H-index: 23) with 14.79% contribution. Regarding Np for authors, Netea, Mihai G. (Np: 7) from the Netherlands was the most productive author, followed by Joosten, Leo A. B. (Np: 6) and Lu, Kuo-Cheng (Np: 6). The Udice French Research Universities had the most publications (Np: 31, Nc: 2,071, H-index: 13), with an average citation number (ACN) at 67. The journal Frontiers in Immunology possessed the most publications (Np: 89, Nc: 1,097, ACN: 12.52). "Evasion" (strength 1.76, 2021-2022), "neutralizing antibody" (strength 1.76, 2021-2022), "messenger RNA" (strength 1.76, 2021-2022), "mitochondrial DNA" (strength 1.51, 2021-2022), "respiratory infection" (strength 1.51, 2021-2022), and "toll-like receptors" (strength 1.51, 2021-2022) were the emerging keywords in this field.
    Conclusion: The study on innate immunity in COVID-19 is a hot topic. The USA was the most productive and influential country in this field, followed by China. The journal with the most publications was Frontiers in Immunology. "Messenger RNA," "mitochondrial DNA," and "toll-like receptors" are the current hotspots and potential targets in future research.

      Bibliometric analysis is a widely used technique for analyzing large quantities of academic literature and evaluating its impact in a particular academic field. In this paper bibliometric analysis has been used to analyze the academic research on arrhythmia detection and classification from 2005 to 2022. We have followed PRISMA 2020 framework to identify, filter and select the relevant papers. This study has used the Web of Science database to find related publications on arrhythmia detection and classification. "Arrhythmia detection", "arrhythmia classification" and "arrhythmia detection and classification" are three keywords for gathering the relevant articles. 238 publications in total were selected for this research. In this study, two different bibliometric techniques, "performance analysis" and "science mapping", were applied. Different bibliometric parameters such as publication analysis, trend analysis, citation analysis, and networking analysis have been used to evaluate the performance of these articles. According to this analysis, the three countries with the highest number of publications and citations are China, the USA, and India in terms of arrhythmia detection and classification. The three most significant researchers in this field are those named U. R. Acharya, S. Dogan, and P. Plawiak. Machine learning, ECG, and deep learning are the three most frequently used keywords. A further finding of the study indicates that the popular topics for arrhythmia identification are machine learning, ECG, and atrial fibrillation. This research provides insight into the origins, current status, and future direction of arrhythmia detection research.

       BACKGROUND: As the field of sensor-based rehabilitation continues to expand, it is important to gain a comprehensive understanding of its current research landscape. This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis to identify the most influential authors, institutions, journals, and research areas in this field.
    METHODS: A search of the Web of Science Core Collection was performed using keywords related to sensor-based rehabilitation in neurological diseases. The search results were analyzed with CiteSpace software using bibliometric techniques, including co-authorship analysis, citation analysis, and keyword co-occurrence analysis.
    RESULTS: Between 2002 and 2022, 1103 papers were published on the topic, with slow growth from 2002 to 2017, followed by a rapid increase from 2018 to 2022. The United States was the most active country, while the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology had the highest number of publications among institutions. Sensors published the most papers. The top keywords included rehabilitation, stroke, and recovery. The clusters of keywords comprised machine learning, specific neurological conditions, and sensor-based rehabilitation technologies.
    CONCLUSIONS: This study provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of sensor-based rehabilitation research in neurological diseases, highlighting the most influential authors, journals, and research themes. The findings can help researchers and practitioners to identify emerging trends and opportunities for collaboration and can inform the development of future research directions in this field.

      Tremendous progress has been made in the field of lateral lymph nodes (LLNs) in rectal cancer, but no bibliometric analysis in this field has been carried out and published. To reveal the current status and trends in LLNs in rectal cancer, this bibliometric analysis was performed. Cooperation network, co-citation and keyword co-occurrence analyses were conducted. Annual publication, cooperation relationships among authors, institutions and countries, co-cited journal, co-cited author, co-cited reference and keywords were the main outcomes. A total of 345 studies were included in this bibliometric analysis. The number of articles published in this field has been increasing year by year. The authors, institutions and countries worked closely together in this field. Japan has the largest number of published articles, accounting for 51.59% of the total publications. International Journal of Colorectal Disease (30 papers, 8.70%) published the most papers in this field. The JCOG0212 trial was the most cited article. Preoperative chemoradiotherapy, multicenter, lateral lymph node dissection (LLND) and metastasis are recent hot keywords, and LLND had the highest burst strength. In conclusion, this bibliometric analysis found that Japanese institutions and authors dominated the field of LLNs in rectal cancer. The JCOG0212 trial was the most influential article, which had a significant impact on the development of guidelines. LLND is a hotspot in this field with the highest burst strength. Further prospective studies are needed in this field.

       OBJECTIVE: Pathological scars are the results of abnormal wound healing, which not only affect the appearance, but may also be accompanied by significant psychosocial burdens. In this study, we aimed to conduct a bibliometric and visualized analysis on pathological scars and provide directions for future research.
    METHODS: The articles on scar research from 2011 to 2021 in the Web of Science Core Collection database were collected. The bibliometrics records were retrieved and analyzed with Excel, CiteSpace V and VOSviewer.
    RESULTS: A total of 944 scar research records published between 2011 and 2021 were collected. Publication output has shown an upward trend as a whole. China ranked first in terms of country contributions (418 publications, 5176 citations), while Germany, with only 22 studies published, had the highest average citation rate (57.18). Shanghai Jiaotong University was the institution with the largest number of related articles published, followed by the fourth military medical university, the University of Alberta and the Second military medical university. Wound repair and regeneration, Burns, Journal of Burn Care & Research, Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology published the most research in this field. Dahai Hu was the most prolific author, while Rei Ogawa was the most cited. The cluster analysis of the reference contributions and keywords indicated that current research hotspots mainly include pathogenesis, treatment strategies, and the safety evaluation of new scar treatment options.
    CONCLUSION: This study provides a comprehensive summary and analysis of the current status and research trends of pathological scars. International research interest in pathological scars is on the rise, and high-quality studies related to the field have also increased in the last decade. The pathogenesis of pathological scars, treatment strategies, such as fractional ablative CO2 laser and molecular targeted therapy, and the safety evaluation of new treatment options will be the focus of future research.

      In recent years, there has been a rapid increase in scientific research into hydrogeochemical research on glacier meltwater. Nevertheless, systematic and quantitative analyses are lacking to investigate how this research field has developed over the years. As a result, this study is aimed at examining and evaluating recent research trends and frontiers in hydrogeochemical research on glacier meltwater throughout the previous 20 years (2002-2022) and at locating collaboration networks. This is the first global-scale study, and visualization of the key hotspots and trends in hydrogeochemical research has been presented here. The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database aided in the retrieval of research publications related to hydrogeochemical research of glacier meltwater published between 2002 and 2022. From the beginning of 2002 till July 2022, 6035 publications on the hydrogeochemical study of glacier meltwater were compiled. The result revealed that the number of published papers on the hydrogeochemical study of glacier meltwater at higher altitudes had grown exponentially, with USA and China being the main research countries. The number of publications produced from the USA and China accounts for about half (50%) of all publications from the top 10 countries. Kang SC, Schwikowski M, and Tranter M are highly influential authors in hydrogeochemical research of glacier meltwater. However, the research from developed nations, particularly the United States, emphasizes hydrogeochemical research more than those from developing countries. In addition, the research on glacier meltwater's role in streamflow components is limited, particularly in the high-altitude regions and needs to be enhanced.

       Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is children's most common sleep-related breathing disorder. It may develop a wide range of severe complications if not diagnosed promptly and treated effectively. However, Childhood OSA has not specifically been analyzed using a bibliometric approach.
    Methods: We respectively collected the research results of childhood OSA from 2013 to 2022 through Web of Science and PubMed. Vosviewer, CiteSpace, and bibliometric online analysis platforms were used for visualizing and analyzing the literature. The MeSH terms were bi-clustered using the Bibliographic Item co-occurrence Matrix Builder (BICOMB) and graph clustering toolkit (gCLUTO) to identify the hotspots.
    Results: 4022 publications were finally identified on childhood OSA from 2013 to 2022. The United States has the largest number of publications (1902), accounting for 47.29%. University of Cincinnati is the most productive organization (196), followed by the University of Pennsylvania (151). The most prolific journal was the International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology, with 311 documents published. In comparison, Pediatrics is the most cited journal (6936). Gozal D ranked highest among all authors in publication (192). Burst detection shows continuous positive airway pressure, Robin sequence, and nocturnal oximetry are recent keywords of great interest to researchers. Five hotspots were identified by co-word biclustering.
    Conclusion: Research over the past ten years has been fruitful, establishing the foundation for childhood OSA. Clusters (0-4) of high-frequency Major Mesh topics have attracted extensive attention. Evaluation and treatment methods of childhood OSA remain major focuses. We believe this article will provide other researchers with new directions and may contribute to a future breakthrough in this field.

      The number of published scientific paper grows rapidly each year, totaling more than 2.9 million annually. New methodologies and systems have been developed to analyze scientific production and performance indicators from large quantities of data available from the scientific databases, such as Web of Science or Scopus. In this paper, we analyzed the international scientific production and co-authorship patterns for the most productive authors from Serbia based on the obtained Web of Science dataset in the period 2006-2013. We performed bibliometric and scientometric analyses together with statistical and collaboration network analysis, to reveal the causes of extraordinary publishing performance of some authors. For such authors, we found significant inequality in distribution of papers over journals and countries of co-authors, using Gini coefficient and Lorenz curves. Most of the papers belong to multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and the field of applied sciences. We have discovered three specific collaboration patterns that lead to high productivity in international collaboration. First pattern corresponds to mega-authorship papers with hundreds of co-authors gathered in specific research groups. The other two collaboration patterns were found in mathematics and multidisciplinary science, mainly application of graph theory and computational methods in physical chemistry. The former pattern results in a star-shaped collaboration network with mostly individual collaborators. The latter pattern includes multiple actors with high betweenness centrality measure and identified brokerage roles. The results are compared with the later period 2014-2023, where high scientific production has been observed in some other fields, such as biology and food science and technology.

       Background: Acupuncture therapy is a unique technology created by the working people in ancient China. It is popular all over the world for its safety, effectiveness and no side effects, especially for the treatment of pain syndrome, it can often have an immediate effect. Tension-type headache is one of them. At present, many literatures have reported that many countries in the world are using acupuncture to treat tension-type headache, but there is no quantitative analysis of the relevant literature on this field. Therefore, This study aims to evaluate the research hotspots and trends of acupuncture treatment of tension-type headache through a macro review of the literature from 2003 to 2022 by using CiteSpace V6.1.R6 (64-bit) Basic.
    Methods: Relevant literatures on acupuncture treatment of tension-type headache from 2003 to 2022 were extracted from the web of science core collection database. CiteSpace was used to analyze the data of publications, authors, institutions, countries, keywords and cited references, cited authors, cited journals. Draw the cited network map and analyze the research hotspots and trends.
    Results: A total of 231 publications were retrieved from 2003 to 2022. In the past 20 years, the annual number of publications has shown an overall growth trend, and the most active journals, countries, institutions, authors, cite references and keywords in the field of acupuncture treatment of tension-type headache were identified.
    Conclusion: This study provides the status and trends of clinical research in the field of acupuncture therapy for tension-type headache in the past 20 years, which will help researchers understand the research hotspots in this field and provide new directions for further research.

       Background: Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (JOMFP) is a periodical publication and is one of the most prestigious dental specialty journals in India.
    Aim: To perform bibliometric analysis and network visualisation of articles published in the JOMFP.
    Methodology: Scopus online bibliometric search of articles published in JOMFP from 2011 (Issue 2, May-August) to 2022 (Issue 2, April-June) was performed. A total of 1385 articles out of 1453 were included for analysis. VOSviewer software was used for science mapping and network analysis of extracted data from JOMFP. Basic steps of bibliometric analysis including performance analysis, science mapping, and network analysis were performed to draw conclusions and recommendations.
    Results: The annual frequency of articles was maximum in the year 2019 with 150 articles. The most frequently appearing keywords were "oral squamous cell carcinoma" and "immunohistochemistry". The mean count of the top 10 cited articles and authors was 144.6 and 293.2, respectively.
    Conclusion: More efforts are warranted not only for increasing the volume of quality papers in JOMFP but also to enhance the collaborations between the various authors and research groups. Large volumes of laboratory and clinical-based research have been published in JOMFP from every part of India; thus, this journal truly represents the global face of Indian oral and maxillofacial pathologists.

       OBJECTIVE: To characterize the scientific production of the Revista Alergia Mexico.
    METHODS: A descriptive study was carried out that took into consideration the bibliometric information of the Revista Alergia México hosted in PubMed (MEDLINE) and Scopus.
    RESULTS: The total number of articles published during 1991 to 2021 according to Pubmed was 1,115 (annual mean: 37.2 ± 12.3). Scopus registered 1,541 articles during 1972 to 2021 (annual mean: 30.8 ± 14.9); in both sources, original articles (49 and 78%, respectively) and review articles (21 and 12%, respectively) were the most published document modalities; the most relevant topics included asthma (32%), allergic rhinitis (16%) and drug allergy (9%). Public institutions in Mexico were the institutions with the highest number of published articles. The country with the highest number of published papers was Mexico (54%), followed by Colombia (5%) and Spain (4%). The 2020 citation index according to Scopus was 0.9; an H-index of 15; and an impact factor of 0.150. During the period 2016 - 2020, the annual rejection rate ranged from 7% to 30%.
    CONCLUSIONS: Promoting the internationalization of the journal, publishing articles in the English language and achieving the impact factor are among some of the main needs of the Revista Alergia Mexico.

      Millions of people cross political borders yearly without having the proper documents. This has led to increased detention and deportation practices in destination countries for reasons related to security and sovereignty. The objective of the current study was to analyze and visualize research publications on the detention and deportation of migrants to identify current research hotspots, research gaps, and potential future research in the field. Relevant research articles were obtained from the Scopus database for the study period from 1900 to December 31, 2022. The analysis included presentations of key contributors to the field and visualization of topics, themes, and international collaboration. In total, 906 articles were found. The earliest was in 1982. The majority of articles were published in journals within the subject areas of social sciences and humanities. The number of publications showed a steep rise from 2011 to 2022. The Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies was the most prolific, but publications in the Citizenship Studies journal received the highest number of citations per article. Researchers from the United States contributed the most. Mexico ranked fifth in the number of publications. Oxford University was the most prolific institution, followed by three universities in Australia. The majority of articles were single-authored, indicative of limited author-author collaboration. Research hotspots in the field were "human rights" and "mental health". The detention and deportation of Mexican and other Latino migrants in the United States constituted a distinct research theme in the field. International research collaboration was limited by geographical proximity (e.g., the United States and Mexico) or common language (e.g., the United Kingdom and Australia). Future research topics should focus on alternatives to detention, family separation, and healthcare services for detained migrants. Research activity on detention and deportation is required from all world regions, including the source countries of migrants. Future research should promote alternatives to traditional detentions. The contribution of countries in Africa, the Middle East, and South-Eastern Asian regions needs to be encouraged. Future research on the detention and deportation of non-Latino migrants is highly required.

      Social lockdowns improved air quality during the COVID-19 pandemic. Governments had previously spent a lot of money addressing air pollution without success. This bibliometric study measured the influence of COVID-19 social lockdowns on air pollution, identified emerging issues, and discussed future perspectives. The researchers examined the contributions of countries, authors, and most productive journals to COVID-19 and air pollution research from January 1, 2020, to September 12, 2022, from the Web of Sciences Core Collection (WoS). The results showed that (a) publications on the COVID-19 pandemic and air pollution were 504 (research articles) with 7495 citations, (b) China ranked first in the number of publications (n = 151; 29.96% of the global output) and was the main country in international cooperation network, followed by India (n = 101; 20.04% of the total articles) and the USA (n = 41; 8.13% of the global output). Air pollution plagues China, India, and the USA, calling for many studies. After a high spike in 2020, research published in 2021 declined in 2022. The author's keywords have focused on "COVID-19," "air pollution," "lockdown," and "PM25." These keywords suggest that research in this area is focused on understanding the health impacts of air pollution, developing policies to address air pollution, and improving air quality monitoring. The COVID-19 social lockdown served as a specified procedure to reduce air pollution in these countries. However, this paper provides practical recommendations for future research and a model for environmental and health scientists to examine the likely impact of COVID-19 social lockdowns on urban air pollution.

       BACKGROUND: Gender disparity in authorship broadly persists in medical literature, little is known about female authorship within pulmonary medicine.
    METHODS: A bibliometric analysis of publications from 2012 to 2021 in 12 journals with the highest impact in pulmonary medicine was conducted. Only original research and review articles were included. Names of the first and last authors were extracted and their genders were identified using the Gender-API web. Female authorship was described by overall distribution and distribution by country/region/continent and journal. We compared the article citations by gender combinations, evaluated the trend in female authorship, and forecasted when parity for first and last authorship would be reached. We also conducted a systematic review of female authorship in clinical medicine.
    RESULTS: 14,875 articles were included, and the overall percentage of female first authors was higher than last authors (37.0% vs 22.2%, p<0.001). Asia had the lowest percentage of female first (27.6%) and last (15.2%) authors. The percentages of female first and last authors increased slightly over time, except for a rapid increase in the COVID-19 pandemic periods. Parity was predicted in 2046 for the first authors and 2059 for the last authors. Articles with male authors were cited more than articles with female authors. However, male-male collaborations significantly decreased, whereas female-female collaborations significantly increased.
    CONCLUSIONS: Despite the slow improvement in female authorship over the past decade, there is still a substantial gender disparity in female first and last authorship in high-impact medical journals in pulmonary medicine.

      Introduction: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) accounts for approximately 80% of all cases. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are widely used to treat NSCLC owing to their remarkable efficacy. In this study, we analyzed the scientific collaboration network, defined the hotspots of research on the use of ICIs for NSCLC treatment, analyzed its evolution over the past few years, and forecasted the field's future development using bibliometric analysis and a graphical study. Methods: Research articles and reviews regarding ICIs for NSCLC were retrieved and obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection on 26 September 2022. CtieSpace and VOSviewer were thereafter used to conduct the bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis. Results: We included 8,149 articles for this literature analysis. Our analysis showed that the USA had the highest number of publications and citations. We also noted that research trends in this field have changed drastically over the past 20 years, from the early development of ICIs, such as CTLA-4 inhibitors, to the development of recent ones, such as PD-1 and PD-L1 blockers. Further, the focus of research in this field has also gradually shifted from mechanisms to treatment effects and adverse events, suggesting that the field is maturing. Clinical applications are also being explored, including studies on how to enhance efficacy, reduce adverse effects, and expand to other specific cancer types. Conclusion: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to construct a comprehensive knowledge map on ICIs for NSCLC. It can help researchers rapidly grasp the status and focus of current research in this area, offer direction, and serve as a reference for conducting similar studies.

The aim of the paper is to determine the trend of research and multidisciplinary collaboration in publications related to RMT over the last 6 decades. The authors also sought to chart the advancement of RMT among people with spinal cord injury (SCI) over the last 60 years.
    METHODS: Bibliometric analysis was made, including the publications' profiles, citation analysis and research trends of the relevant literature over the last 60 years. Publications from all time frames were retrieved from Scopus database. A subgroup analysis of publications pertinent to people with SCI was also made.
    RESULTS: Research on RMT has been steadily increasing over the last 6 decades and across geographical locations. While medicine continues to dominate the research on RMT, this topic also continues to attract researchers and publications from other areas such as engineering, computer science and social science over the last 10 years. Research collaboration between authors in different backgrounds was observed since 2006. Source titles from non-medical backgrounds have also published articles pertinent to RMT. Among people with SCI, researchers utilised a wide range of technology from simple spirometers to electromyography in both intervention and outcome measures. With various types of interventions implemented, RMT generally improves pulmonary function and respiratory muscle strength among people with SCI.
    CONCLUSIONS: While research on RMT has been steadily increasing over the last 6 decades, more collaborations are encouraged in the future to produce more impactful and beneficial research on people who suffer from respiratory disorders.

       BACKGROUND: NETosis is a critical innate immune mechanism of neutrophils that contributes to the accelerated progression of autoimmune diseases, thrombosis, cancer, and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed the relevant literature by bibliometric methods in order to provide a more comprehensive and objective view of the knowledge dynamics in the field.
    METHODS: The literature on NETosis was downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection, analyzed with VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Microsoft for co-authorship, co-occurrence, and co-citation analysis.
    RESULTS: In the field of NETosis, the United States was the most influential countries. Harvard University was the most active institutions. Mariana J. Kaplan and Brinkmann V were, respectively, the most prolific and most co-cited authors. Frontiers in Immunology, Journal of Immunology, Plos One, Blood, Science, Journal of Cell Biology, and Nature Medicine were the most influential journals. The top 15 keywords are associated with immunological and NETosis formation mechanisms. The keywords with the strongest burst detection were mainly related to COVID-19 (coronavirus, ACE2, SARS coronavirus, cytokine storm, pneumonia, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio), and cancer (circulating tumor cell).
    CONCLUSION: Research on NETosis is currently booming. The mechanism of NETosis and its role in innate immunity, autoimmune diseases, especially systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis, and thrombosis are the focus of research in the field of NETosis. A future study will concentrate on the function of NETosis in COVID-19 and recurrent metastasis of cancer.

      Carbon neutrality is a research hotspot and achieves increasing interests in recent years. In this paper, utilizing the Web of Science database as the data resource, we conduct a series of analyses for the carbon neutrality-related literature from the past decade based on CiteSpace, including the visualization analysis for the research hotspots and trends, discovery of intellectual structure and influential directions, as well as the cooperation analysis for representative researchers, organizations, and countries. The findings demonstrate that (a) the relationship between carbon emissions and economic growth has achieved increasing academic interests in recent years. (b) There are mainly four knowledge groups at present in this area including renewable energy and carbon emissions; international energy cooperation and investment; energy regulations and policies of different countries; technological innovation and economic growth. (c) Cooperations exist widely within various authors, institutions, as well as countries, with academic clusters developed towards the goals of energy transitions, environmental sustainability, city development, etc.

       Background: There is a high prevalence of malnutrition in cancer patients, which seriously affects the anti-cancer therapy effect and outcomes, causing a huge disease burden worldwide. Appropriate nutritional support is important for cancer prevention and control. The aim of this study was to explore the development trends, hotspots, and frontiers of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) on Cancer from a bibliometric perspective, and provide new insights for future research and clinic practices.
    Methods: The global literature of MNT on Cancer published between 1975 and 2022 were searched in the Web of Science Core Collection Database (WOSCC). After refining the data, descriptive analysis and data visualization were performed with bibliometric tools (CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and R package "bibliometrix").
    Results: A total of 10,339 documents with a timespan from 1982 to 2022 were included in this study. The number of documents had increased continuously over the past 40 years, especially with a steep rise from 2016 to 2022. The majority of scientific production outputs were from the United States, which had the most core research institutions and authors. The published documents could be clustered into three themes respectively labeled by terms "double-blind", "cancer" and "quality-of-life". "gastric cancer", "outcome", "inflammation", "sarcopenia" and "exercise" were the most prominent keywords in recent years. "breast-cancer", "colorectal-cancer", "expression", "risk", "in-vitro", "quality-of-life", "cancer" and "life" might represent the newly emerged topics.
    Conclusions: There were a good research foundation and reasonable disciplinary structure in the field of medical nutrition therapy for cancer at present. The core research team was mainly located in the United States, England, and other developed countries. According to the current trends in publications, more articles shall be published in the future. Nutritional metabolism, malnutrition risk, and the impact of nutritional therapy on prognosis might be research hotspots. In particular, it was important to focus on specific cancer, such as breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and gastric cancer, which might be the frontiers.

       Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common gynecological endocrine diseases for women of puberty and reproductive age. PCOS can affect women's health for the rest of their lives since the incidence of coronary heart disease (CHD) may increase in the perimenopausal and senile periods among PCOS women compared with non-PCOS women.
    Method: A literature retrieval based on the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E) database. All obtained records results were downloaded in plain text format for subsequent analysis. VOSviewer v1.6.10, Citespace and Microsoft Excel 2010 software were utilized for analyzing the following terms: countries, institutions, authors, journals, references and keywords.
    Results: There were 312 articles retrieved from January 1, 2000 to February 8, 2023, and the frequency of citations was 23,587. The United States, England, and Italy contributed the majority of the records. Harvard University, the University of Athens, and Monash University were the top 3 most productive institutions with publications on the relationship between PCOS and CHD. Journal of clinical endocrinology & metabolism ranked first with the highest publications (24 records), followed by Fertility and sterility (18 records). The keywords were divided into six clusters in the overlay keywords network: (1) the correlation between CHD risk factors and PCOS women; (2) the relationship between cardiovascular disease and female reproductive system hormone secretion; (3) the interaction between CHD and metabolic syndrome; (4) the relationship between c-reactive protein and endothelial function and oxidative stress in PCOS patients; (5) the potential positive effect of metformin on reducing CHD risk factors in PCOS patients; (6) the study of serum cholesterol and body-fat distribution in patients with CHD in PCOS. Oxidative stress, genome-wide association, obesity, primary prevention, and sex difference were main hotspots in this field in recent five years according to the keyword citation burst analysis.
    Conclusion: The article obtained the hotspots and trends and provided a reference for subsequent research on the association between PCOS and CHD. Moreover, it is hypothesized that oxidative stress and genome-wide association were frontier hotspots in studies that explore the relationship between PCOS and CHD, and prevention research may be valued in the future.

      Background: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are hybrid materials composed of metal ions or clusters and organic ligands that spontaneously assemble via coordination bonds to create intramolecular pores, which have recently been widely used in biomedicine due to their porosity, structural, and functional diversity. They are used in biomedical applications, including biosensing, drug delivery, bioimaging, and antimicrobial activities. Our study aims to provide scholars with a comprehensive overview of the research situations, trends, and hotspots in biomedical applications of MOFs through a bibliometric analysis of publications from 2002 to 2022. Methods: On 19 January 2023, the Web of Science Core Collection was searched to review and analyze MOFs applications in the biomedical field. A total of 3,408 studies published between 2002 and 2022 were retrieved and examined, with information such as publication year, country/region, institution, author, journal, references, and keywords. Research hotspots were extracted and analyzed using the Bibliometrix R-package, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace. Results: We showed that researchers from 72 countries published articles on MOFs in biomedical applications, with China producing the most publications. The Chinese Academy of Science was the most prolific contributor to these publications among 2,209 institutions that made contributions. Reference co-citation analysis classifies references into 8 clusters: synergistic cancer therapy, efficient photodynamic therapy, metal-organic framework encapsulation, selective fluorescence, luminescent probes, drug delivery, enhanced photodynamic therapy, and metal-organic framework-based nanozymes. Keyword co-occurrence analysis divided keywords into 6 clusters: biosensors, photodynamic therapy, drug delivery, cancer therapy and bioimaging, nanoparticles, and antibacterial applications. Research frontier keywords were represented by chemodynamic therapy (2020-2022) and hydrogen peroxide (2020-2022). Conclusion: Using bibliometric methods and manual review, this review provides a systematic overview of research on MOFs in biomedical applications, filling an existing gap. The burst keyword analysis revealed that chemodynamic therapy and hydrogen peroxide are the prominent research frontiers and hot spots. MOFs can catalyze Fenton or Fenton-like reactions to generate hydroxyl radicals, making them promising materials for chemodynamic therapy. MOF-based biosensors can detect hydrogen peroxide in various biological samples for diagnosing diseases. MOFs have a wide range of research prospects for biomedical applications.

      Cauda equina syndrome (CES) is an uncommon condition that can lead to permanent neurological deficits if not diagnosed and addressed promptly. Varying prognoses, including retropulsed fracture fragments, disc herniations, and epidural abscesses, can result in CES. Our objective was to identify the top 50 most impactful articles on CES and analyze the characteristics of these publications. In August of 2021, we used the Web of Science Core Collection bibliographic database to query the phrase "cauda equina syndrome." Articles between 1900 and 2021 were included in the search, and these articles were ranked based on the number of citations. The following variables were recorded: title, first author, journal, year of publication, number of citations, country of origin, the institution of publication, and topic of the paper. A total of 2096 articles matched the search criteria. The top 50 most impactful articles ranged from 43 to 439 in their number of citations. All articles on the list were published in English, with the year of publication ranging from 1938 to 2014. The United States accounted for the greatest number of articles published at 27. The medical journal Spine accounted for the greatest number of publications at nine. And the 2000s was the decade with the most cited articles. It is generally acknowledged that the clinical signals for CES are diverse with no predictive value on patient outcomes. Similar uncertainty exists in the etiology of the condition, though CES induced by spinal anesthesia is a factor of particular interest. Additionally, it is generally recognized that delayed diagnosis of the condition often results in permanent neurological deficits. Identification of the most impactful articles on CES is critical in drawing attention to this significant condition.

       BACKGROUND: Bioresorbable scaffolds (BVS) provide a transient supporting force for blocked vessels and allow them to return to previous physiological characteristics. After verification with twists and turns, it has been acknowledged as an emerging revolution in percutaneous coronary intervention that expresses the current concept of intervention without placement. Through this bibliometric study, we organized the knowledge structure of bioresorbable scaffolds and attempted to predict future research hotspots in this field.
    METHODS: seven thousand sixty-three articles were retrieved from the web of science core collection database from 2000 to 2022. Then, we utilize CiteSpace 6.1.R2, Biblioshiny and VOS viewer 1.6.18 to analyze the data visually.
    RESULTS: First, according to the spatial analysis, the number of annual publications has shown an approximately increasing trend over the past 2 decades. The USA, the People's Republic of China, and GERMANY published the most articles on bioresorbable scaffolds. Second, SERRUYS P ranked first for his most prolific work and highest cited frequency in this domain. Third, the hotspots in this field can be inferred from the keyword distribution; they were the fabrication technique based on tissue engineering; the factors to be optimized for bioresorbable scaffolds, such as mechanical property, degradation, and implantation; and the common adverse effects of bioresorbable scaffolds, such as thrombosis. Most importantly, in terms of burst detection, we could speculate that cutting-edge technology for manufacturing scaffolds represented by 3D printing constitutes the future hotspots in bioresorbable scaffold development.
    CONCLUSION: In the first visualized bibliometric analysis of BVS, we attempt to provide a panoramic view. By enrolling extensive literature, we review the growing trend of BVSs. Since its first introduction, it has been through periods of early prosperity, questioned safety subsequently and the resultantly advanced techniques in recent years. In future, the research should focus on utilizing novel techniques to consummate the manufacturing quality and assure the safety of BVSs.

      In this study, the researchers focus on policy instruments that employ a market-based strategy to promote emission reduction, find the key spots and recent changing aspects in the field of Eemission Trading Systems (ETS) and Low Carbon Growth, and make suggestions for future studies. Making use of the bibliometric analysis, the researchers examine a sample of 1,390 research from the ISI Web of Science database to find research activity on ETS and low carbon growth between 2005 and 2022. Also, the researchers visualized the knowledge domains in this field using software like CiteSpace and R-Biblioshiny. The research unravels the most influential published articles and authors on their citations and publications and their location and significance within the network. The researchers further examined the recent themes, identified the barriers to developing literature in this field, and made recommendations for future research. Research on ETS and low carbon growth globally lack cross-border collaborations between emerging and developed economies. The researchers concluded the study by recommending three future research directions.

      Nowadays many countries and institutions use bibliometric assessment of journal quality in their research evaluation policies. However, bibliometric measures, such as impact factor or quartile, may provide a biased quality assessment for relatively new, regional, or non-mainstream journals, as these outlets usually do not possess a longstanding history, and may not be included into indexing databases. To reduce the information asymmetry between academic community (researchers, editors, policymakers) and journal management, we propose an alternative approach to evaluate journals quality signals using previous publication track record of authors. We explore the difference in the quality signals sent by regional journals. Traditional, journal-level, bibliometric measures are contrasted with generalised measures of authors' publishing records. We used a set of 50,477 articles and reviews in 83 regional journals in Physics and Astronomy (2014-2019) to extract and process data on 73 866 authors and their additional 329,245 publications in other Scopus-indexed journals. We found that traditional journal-level measures (such as journal quartile, CiteScore percentile, Scimago Journal Rank) tend to under-evaluate journal quality, thus contributing to an image of low-quality research venues. Author-level measures (including the share of papers in the Nature Index journals) send positive signals of journal quality and allow us to subdivide regional journals by their publishing strategies. These results suggest that research evaluation policies might consider attributing greater weight to regional journals, not only for the training purposes of doctoral students but also for gaining international visibility and impact.

      Research training, scientific activity and publications are cornerstones of academic surgery. Knowing the activity and trends of medical students aspiring to become surgeons it allows to identify gaps and skills to be strengthened. Currently, there is no data on the authorship and scientific activity of medical students in surgery in Latin America and Colombia.
    Methods: A bibliometric cross-sectional study was carried out, in which the Colombian medical journals were reviewed from 2010 to 2020. The articles with topics in general surgery and subspecialties where the authorship of medical students could be identified, were selected. Data on the sociodemographic and scientific characteristics of the authors and their publications were extracted and analyzed.
    Results: A total of 14 383 articles from 34 Colombian medical journals were reviewed. From 2010 to 2020, 807 articles related to surgery were published in Colombia. The most frequent typology of these articles was original articles (n=298; 37%), followed by case reports (n=222; 28.2%) and reviews (n=137; 17.3%). A total of 132 medical students and 141 authorships and were found, specifically in 9.9% (n=80/807) of these publications, with a higher frequency in original articles (n=32; 40%) and case reports (n=29; 36.2%). Collaboration of students with professors or surgeons was evidenced in 97.5% of the publications.
    Conclusions: The authorship of Colombian medical students in scientific publications in surgery in Colombian medical journals was low. From 2010 to 2020, student authors were found in 1 out of every 10 publications, mainly in original articles and clinical cases.

      In this research paper, we analyzed the bibliographic data of the research publications issued by the Moroccan Journal of Chemistry between 2013 and 2021. As an open-access country-based research journal with a narrow area of interest and international online exposure, it will be interesting to see how it affects the local chemical research community through the comparison of the characteristics of the research outputs of the journal as retrieved from the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) with the features of Moroccan chemical research from 2014 to 2021 in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoS). In this context, we generated scientometric networks using Gephi, a tool for large-scale data visualization, to reveal the patterns of the publications in the Moroccan Journal of Chemistry. When performing our analysis, we found a significant alignment between the research topics featured in the Moroccan Journal of Chemistry and the main research areas of the Moroccan chemical scholarly outputs, particularly Multidisciplinary Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry. We also identified that the Moroccan Journal of Chemistry functions as an incubator for establishing new traditions of research collaboration between Moroccan institutions and target nations such as Asian and African countries. As well, it is clear that the Moroccan Journal of Chemistry is an interesting venue for the most productive chemical researchers in Morocco for sharing preliminary research findings and discussing trendy topics.

       Purpose: To provide a bibliographical-historical perspective and main interest in the field of myopia.
    Methods: In this bibliographic study, the Web of Science Database was searched from 1999 to 2018. Recorded parameters included journal name, impact factor, year and language, number of authors, type and origin, methodology, number of subjects, funding, and topics.
    Results: Epidemiological assessments were the leading type of article (28%), and half of the papers were prospective studies. The number of citations for multicenter studies was significantly higher (P = 0.034). The articles were published in 27 journals, with the majority in Investigative Ophthalmology, Vision Sciences (28%), and Ophthalmology (26%). Etiology, signs and symptoms, and treatment equally encompassed the topics. Papers addressing etiology, specifically genetic and environmental factors (P = 0.029), signs and symptoms (P = 0.001), and prevention, specifically public awareness (47%, P = 0.005), received significantly more citations. Treatment to decrease myopia progression was a much more common topic (68%) than refractive surgery (32%). Optical treatment was the most popular modality (39%). Half of the publications came from 3 countries: the United States (US), Australia, and Singapore. The highest ranked and cited papers came from the US (P = 0.028) and Singapore (P = 0.028).
    Conclusions: To our knowledge, this is the first report of the top-cited articles on myopia. There is a predominance of epidemiological assessments and multicenter studies originating from the US, Australia, and Singapore, assessing etiology, signs and symptoms, and prevention. These are more frequently cited, emphasizing the great interest in mapping the increase in the incidence of myopia in different countries, public health awareness, and myopia control.

      In recent decades, the importance of managing the earth's dwindling phosphorus (P) has grown exponentially, as have efforts to develop a circular economy. Livestock manure represents a P-rich waste product, so recycling P from livestock manure has garnered the attention of scholars worldwide. Based on a global database from 1978 to 2021, this study presents the current status of recycling P from livestock manure and proposes strategies for efficient P utilization. Unlike traditional review articles, this work establishes a visual collaborative network on P recycling from livestock manure of research areas, countries, institutions, and authors through a bibliometric analysis using Citespace and VOSviewer software. The co-citation analysis of literature revealed the development of the main research content in this field, and further clustering analysis illustrated the current key research directions. Keyword co-occurrence analysis identified the hotspots and new frontiers of research in this field. According to the results, the United States was the most influential and actively contributing nation, and China was the country with the tightest international ties. The most popular research area was environmental science, and the Bioresource Technology published the largest number of papers in this area. The research priority was the technologies development of P recycling from livestock manure, of which the most used method was struvite precipitation and biochar adsorption. Subsequently, evaluation is also essential, including the economic benefits and environmental impacts of the recycling process by life cycle assessment and substance flow analysis, as well as the agronomic efficiency of the recycled products. New directions for technological innovation in recycling P from livestock manure and potential risks in the recycling process are explored. The results of this study may provide a framework for understanding the mechanisms of P utilization in livestock manure, and support the overall popularization of P recycling technology from livestock manure.

       OBJECTIVES: In the process of scientific progress, prior evidence is both relied on and supplanted by new discoveries. We use the term 'knowledge half-life' to refer to the phenomenon in which older knowledge is discounted in favour of newer research. By quantifying the knowledge half-life, we sought to determine whether research published in more recent years is preferentially cited over older research in medical and scientific articles.
    DESIGN: An observational study employing a directed, systematic search of current literature.
    DATA SOURCES: BMJ, PNAS, JAMA, NEJM, The Annals of Internal Medicine, The Lancet, Science and Nature were searched.
    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR SELECTING STUDIES: Eight high-impact medical and scientific journals were sampled examining original research articles from the first issue of every year over a 25-year span (1996-2020). The outcome of interest was the difference between the publication year of the article and references cited, termed 'citation lag'.
    DATA EXTRACTION AND SYNTHESIS: Analysis of variance was used to identify significant differences in citation lag.
    RESULTS: A total of 726 articles and 17 895 references were included with a mean citation lag of 7.5±8.4 years. Across all journals, >70% of references had been published within 10 years of the citing article. Approximately 15%-20% of referenced articles were 10-19 years old, and articles more than 20 years old were cited infrequently. Medical journals articles had references with significantly shorter citation lags compared with general science journals (p≤0.01). Articles published before 2009 had references with significantly shorter citation lags compared with those published in 2010-2020 (p<0.001).
    CONCLUSIONS: This study found evidence of a small increase in the citation of older research in medical and scientific literature over the past decade. This phenomenon deserves further characterisation and scrutiny to ensure that 'old knowledge' is not being lost.

We propose and evaluate different heuristics to match publications from several publication corpora against Wikipedia's central article on CRISPR and against the complete Wikipedia revision history in order to retrieve further Wikipedia articles relevant to the topic and to analyze Wikipedia's referencing patterns. We explore to what extent the selection of referenced literature of Wikipedia's central article on CRISPR adheres to scientific standards and inner-scientific perspectives by assessing its overlap with (1) the Web of Science (WoS) database, (2) a WoS-based field-delineated corpus, (3) highly-cited publications within this corpus, and (4) publications referenced by field-specific reviews. We develop a diachronic perspective on citation latency and compare the delays with which publications are cited in relevant Wikipedia articles to the citation dynamics of these publications over time. Our results confirm that a combination of verbatim searches by title, DOI, and PMID is sufficient and cannot be improved significantly by more elaborate search heuristics. We show that Wikipedia references a substantial amount of publications that are recognized by experts and highly cited, but that Wikipedia also cites less visible literature, and, to a certain degree, even not strictly scientific literature. Delays in occurrence on Wikipedia compared to the publication years show (most pronounced in case of the central CRISPR article) a dependence on the dynamics of both the field and the editor's reaction to it in terms of activity.

       OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to analyze the global profile of the literature in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) research.
    BACKGROUND: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a clinically heterogeneous condition characterized by fat accumulation in the liver and the absence of significant alcohol consumption or underlying genetic disorders. These manifestations are associated with inflammation, steatosis, and fibrosis that can develop into cirrhosis and even hepatocellular carcinoma. However, a study about the research trend in NAFLD has never been reported before.
    METHODS: The NAFLD bibliometric analysis was performed on articles indexed in the Scopus database from 1973 to 2022.
    RESULTS: The total number of articles published worldwide is 28,673 documents, with an annual average of 561 documents. The United States generated the most articles (n = 6548), followed by China (n = 6180), Italy (n = 2434), and Japan (n = 2032). Since 2013, the number of publications on NAFLD has increased dramatically worldwide. The popular topics in the field include medicine, biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology, pharmacology, toxicology and pharmaceutics, and nursing.
    CONCLUSIONS: This study provides a unique composite picture of NAFLD research worldwide and evaluates research productivity from 1973 to 2022.        Background: To date, no previous research assessed the bibliometrics of men's sexual and reproductive healthcare (SRHC) across Arab countries. This study appraised the current standing of men's SRHC research in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.
    Methods: We performed a bibliometric analysis to assess qualitatively and quantitatively the peer-reviewed articles published from Arab countries from inception to 2022. In addition, we conducted a visualization analysis, and assessed outputs, trends, shortcomings and hotspots over the given time period.
    Results: There was a generally low numbers of publications, 98 studies were identified, all with cross-sectional design, and two thirds explored prevention and control of HIV/other STDs. Studies were published in 71 journals, of which the Eastern Mediterranean Health Journal, Journal of Egyptian Public Health Association, AIDS Care and BMC public health were most common. The Journal of Adolescent Health, Fertility Sterility and Journal of Cancer Survivorship were among the highest IF ranking. Publishers were commonly USA or UK-based, median journal IF was 2.09, and five articles were in journals of IF > 4. Saudi Arabia had the highest published output followed by Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon, while 10 Arab countries had no publications on the topic. Corresponding authors expertise fields were most commonly public health, infectious diseases and family medicine). Collaborations in-between MENA countries were notably low.
    Conclusions: There is general paucity of published outputs on SRHC. More research across MENA is needed, with more inter-MENA collaborations, and with inclusion of countries that currently have no outputs on SRHC. In order to accomplish such goals, R&D funding and capacity building are required. Research and published outputs should address SRHC burdens.

      A spectrum of measuring tools are available to evaluate the impact of published literature and the journals they are published in. Journal Level Metrics (JLM) such as Journal Impact Factor (JIF) or CiteScore assess the reputation of peer-reviewed journals based on citation analysis. Whereas, Article Level Metrics (ALM) quantify the importance, reach and impact of a particular article, and are a new approach to quantifying the reach and impact of published research. Traditionally JLM has served as a proxy for an individual publication's significance, however, the introduction of contemporary and evolution of Alternative metrics measuring digital or societal influence of a particular article has gained popularity in recent times. These metrics help in rapid dissemination of research, development of newer research strategies and individual academic progress. We highlight the characteristics and importance of currently available ALM, and the newer ones influenced by social media, digital media and Open Access publishing models.

       OBJECTIVE: To evaluate whether a citation advantage exists for open access (OA) publications in gynecologic oncology.
    METHOD: A cross-sectional study of research and review articles published in the International Journal of Gynecological Cancer (IJGC) and in Gynecologic Oncology during 1980-2022. Bibliometric measures were compared between OA publications and non-OA publications. The role of authors in low/middle-income countries was assessed. We analyzed article characteristics associated with a high citations per year (CPY) score.
    RESULTS: Overall, 18 515 articles were included, of which 2398 (13.0%) articles were published OA. The rate of OA has increased since 2007. During 2018-2022, the average proportion of articles published OA was 34.0% (range 28.5%-41.4%). OA articles had higher CPY (median (IQR), 3.0 (1.5-5.3) vs 1.3 (0.6-2.7), p<0.001). There was a strong positive correlation between OA proportion and impact factor; IJGC - r(23)=0.90, p<0.001, Gynecologic Oncology - r(23)=0.89, p<0.001. Articles by authors from low/middle-income countries were less common among OA articles than among non-OA articles (5.5% vs 10.7%, p<0.001). Articles by authors from low/middle-income countries were less common in the high CPY group than for articles without a high CPY score (8.0% vs 10.2%, p=0.003). The following article characteristics were found to be independently associated with a high CPY: publication after 2007, (adjusted odds ratio (aOR)=4.9, 95% CI 4.3 to 5.7), research funding reported (aOR=1.6, 95% CI 1.4 to 1.8), and being published OA (aOR=1.5, 95% CI 1.3-1.7). Articles written by authors in Central/South America or Asia had lower odds of having high CPY (Central/South America, aOR=0.5, 95% CI 0.3 to 0.8; Asia, aOR=0.6, 95% CI 0.5 to 0.7).
    CONCLUSION: OA articles have a higher CPY, with a strong positive correlation between OA proportion and impact factor. OA publishing has increased since 2007, but articles written by authors in low/middle-income countries are under-represented among OA publications.

      Robots have been deployed in workplaces to assist, work alongside, or collaborate with human workers on various tasks, which introduces new occupational safety and health hazards and requires research efforts to address these issues. This study investigated the research trends for robotic applications in occupational safety and health. The scientometric method was applied to quantitatively analyze the relationships between robotics applications in the literature. The keywords "robot", "occupational safety and health", and their variants were used to find relevant articles. A total of 137 relevant articles published during 2012-2022 were collected from the Scopus database for this analysis. Keyword co-occurrence, cluster, bibliographic coupling, and co-citation analyses were conducted using VOSviewer to determine the major research topics, keywords, co-authorship, and key publications. Robot safety, exoskeletons and work-related musculoskeletal disorders, human-robot collaboration, and monitoring were four popular research topics in the field. Finally, research gaps and future research directions were identified based on the analysis results, including additional efforts regarding warehousing, agriculture, mining, and construction robots research; personal protective equipment; and multi-robot collaboration. The major contributions of the study include identifying the current trends in the application of robotics in the occupational safety and health discipline and providing pathways for future research in this discipline.

      Research on the COVID-19 pandemic has produced an incredible volume of social science research. To explore the initial areas of COVID-19 scholarship, the following study uses bibliometric co-citation network analysis on data from Clarivate's Web of Science database to analyze 3327 peer-reviewed studies published during the first year of the pandemic and their 107,396 shared references. Findings indicate nine distinct disciplinary research clusters centered around a single medical core of COVID-19 pandemic research. Topics ranging from tourism collapse, fear scales, financial contagion, health surveillance, shifts in crime rates, quarantine psychology, and collective trauma among others are found to have emerged in this initial phase of research as covid spread across the world. A corresponding infodemic highlights early communication challenges and a broader need to thwart misinformation. As this body of work continues to grow across the social sciences, key intersections, shared themes, and long-term implications of this historic event are brought into view.

      This study presents the first bibliometric evaluation and systematic analysis of publications related to mucosal immunity and commensal microbiota over the last two decades and summarizes the contribution of countries, institutions, and scholars in the study of this field. A total of 1423 articles related to mucosal immunity and commensal microbiota in vivo published in 532 journals by 7774 authors from 1771 institutions in 74 countries/regions were analyzed. The interaction between commensal microbiota in vivo and mucosal immunity is essential in regulating the immune response of the body, maintaining communication between different kinds of commensal microbiota and the host, and so on. Several hot spots in this field have been found to have received extensive attention in recent years, especially the effects of metabolites of key strains on mucosal immunity, the physiopathological phenomena of commensal microbiota in various sites including the intestine, and the relationship between COVID-19, mucosal immunity and microbiota. We hope that the full picture of the last 20 years in this research area provided in this study will serve to deliver necessary cutting-edge information to relevant researchers.

       Background and Aim: Human monkeypox is an emerging global threat. Hundreds of publications were disseminated in the last few months. This study aimed to map, analyze, and evaluate the bibliometric indicators of the global monkeypox research output.
    Materials and Methods: All documents published in the past 20 years were retrieved using the Scopus database. Papers published in English and peer-reviewed journals were included. VOSviewer was used to create density and network visualization maps.
    Results: A total of 1725 published documents were retrieved. Of these, 53% were published in 2022. The average number of authors per document was 4.2. Authors from the USA were the most active and published about 42.1% of the total documents. International collaboration was evident between the USA and both UK and Congo. Keywords mapping identified the main research lines in this field that correlate monkeypox with public health, smallpox, vaccination, and antiviral treatment.
    Conclusion: This study analyzed and mapped the expanding field of monkeypox research across the world. The bibliometric analysis revealed that the United States has contributed greatly in terms of both individual researchers and academic institutions. There was less cooperation on a global scale than was anticipated. Fostering international cooperation is essential for countering this worldwide danger. Additional scientific research should be conducted to investigate the link between smallpox immunization and monkeypox epidemics.

      Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a global pandemic caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has posed a catastrophic threat to human health worldwide. Human stem cell-derived organoids serve as a promising platform for exploring SARS-CoV-2 infection. Several review articles have summarized the application of human organoids in COVID-19, but the research status and development trend of this field have seldom been systematically and comprehensively studied. In this review, we use bibliometric analysis method to identify the characteristics of organoid-based COVID-19 research. First, an annual trend of publications and citations, the most contributing countries or regions and organizations, co-citation analysis of references and sources and research hotspots are determined. Next, systematical summaries of organoid applications in investigating the pathology of SARS-CoV-2 infection, vaccine development and drug discovery, are provided. Lastly, the current challenges and future considerations of this field are discussed. The present study will provide an objective angle to identify the current trend and give novel insights for directing the future development of human organoid applications in SARS-CoV-2 infection.

       INTRODUCTION: With shrinking National Institute of Health support, increased clinical demands, and less time for research training during residency, the future of surgeon scientists is in jeopardy. We evaluate the role of a structured research curriculum and its association with resident academic productivity.
    METHODS: Categorical general surgery residents who matched between 2005 and 2019 at our institution were analyzed (n = 104). An optional structured research curriculum, including a mentor program, grant application support, didactic seminars, and travel funding was implemented in 2016. Academic productivity, including the number of publications and citations, was compared between residents who started in or after 2016 (postimplementation, n = 33) and those before 2016 (preimplementation, n = 71). Descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U test, multivariable logistic regression, and inverse probability treatment weighting were performed.
    RESULTS: The postimplementation group had more female (57.6% versus 31.0%, P = 0.010), and nonwhite (36.4% versus 5.6%, P < 0.001) residents and had more publications and citations at the start of residency (P < 0.001). Postimplementation residents were more likely to choose academic development time (ADT) (66.7% versus 23.9%, P < 0.001) and had higher median (IQR) number of publications (2.0 (1.0-12.5) versus 1.0 (0-5.0), P = 0.028) during residency. After adjusting the number of publications at the start of residency, multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the postimplementation group was five times more likely to choose ADT (95% CI 1.7-14.7, P = 0.04). Further, inverse probability treatment weighting revealed an increase of 0.34 publications per year after implementing the structured research curriculum among residents who chose ADT (95% CI 0.1-0.9, P = 0.023).
    CONCLUSIONS: A structured research curriculum was associated with increased academic productivity and surgical resident participation in dedicated ADT. A structured research curriculum is effective and should be integrated into residency training to support the next generation of academic surgeons.

      Classifying scientific publications according to Field-of-Science taxonomies is of crucial importance, powering a wealth of relevant applications including Search Engines, Tools for Scientific Literature, Recommendation Systems, and Science Monitoring. Furthermore, it allows funders, publishers, scholars, companies, and other stakeholders to organize scientific literature more effectively, calculate impact indicators along Science Impact pathways and identify emerging topics that can also facilitate Science, Technology, and Innovation policy-making. As a result, existing classification schemes for scientific publications underpin a large area of research evaluation with several classification schemes currently in use. However, many existing schemes are domain-specific, comprised of few levels of granularity, and require continuous manual work, making it hard to follow the rapidly evolving landscape of science as new research topics emerge. Based on our previous work of scinobo, which incorporates metadata and graph-based publication bibliometric information to assign Field-of-Science fields to scientific publications, we propose a novel hybrid approach by further employing Neural Topic Modeling and Community Detection techniques to dynamically construct a Field-of-Science taxonomy used as the backbone in automatic publication-level Field-of-Science classifiers. Our proposed Field-of-Science taxonomy is based on the OECD fields of research and development (FORD) classification, developed in the framework of the Frascati Manual containing knowledge domains in broad (first level(L1), one-digit) and narrower (second level(L2), two-digit) levels. We create a 3-level hierarchical taxonomy by manually linking Field-of-Science fields of the sciencemetrix Journal classification to the OECD/FORD level-2 fields. To facilitate a more fine-grained analysis, we extend the aforementioned Field-of-Science taxonomy to level-4 and level-5 fields by employing a pipeline of AI techniques. We evaluate the coherence and the coverage of the Field-of-Science fields for the two additional levels based on synthesis scientific publications in two case studies, in the knowledge domains of Energy and Artificial Intelligence. Our results showcase that the proposed automatically generated Field-of-Science taxonomy captures the dynamics of the two research areas encompassing the underlying structure and the emerging scientific developments.

      The aim of this bibliometric analysis was to analyze the scientific output on adolescent social anxiety and its relationship with 15 psychoeducational variables in peer-reviewed journals during the period 2002-2021. The goal was to provide a comprehensive overview of the state of the art on adolescent social anxiety and academic/school achievement, performance, self-concept, self-esteem, self-efficacy, self-attributions, goals, attachment, adjustment, engagement, refusal, absenteeism, anxiety, learning strategies, and self-regulated learning. A search of scientific literature was conducted using Web of Science, and 157 empirical studies were identified. Analyses were conducted using bibliometrix 3.1 to avoid the risk of bias. The results suggested progressive growth in the scientific output on this research topic mainly in the USA, China, Spain, and Canada, and revealed trending issues and scientific interest regarding the relationship between adolescent social anxiety and academic/school achievement and performance. Other variables, such as academic/school attachment and self-regulated learning did not emerge. The results provide implications for practitioners (i.e., educators, clinical and educational psychologists, and psychiatrists), supporting emerging lines of research. Limitations include a lack of a review protocol and a lack of comparison with other international databases, such as PsychInfo, Scopus, PubMed, or ERIC.

      Implementing evidence-based practices in early intervention has generated new research interest in the need for effective early childhood systems. This study used a bibliometric analysis to discern the importance and relevance of the field. The analysis highlights that the main goals of the future direction of the research field need to be better defined. First, articles published in the Web of Science database between 2012 and 2022 were reviewed, and then word and author combinations were analyzed. Finally, articles were collected in different groups for bibliographic linking. Five key points were identified as the most important practices recommended by the Department of Early Childhood or Professional Development. It should be noted that the main difficulty encountered in this field arises from the novelty of our research topic, i.e., there is no research on constructing systems for early intervention. However, it is worth highlighting the articles that are relevant to the field of study and our success with integrating them in order to demonstrate the importance of serving children with disabilities and their families. In conclusion, the establishment of a system built on evidence-based practices is underdeveloped but shows promise for the future of early intervention systems.

      The characteristics, dynamics and mechanisms/determinants of the immune response to SARS-CoV-2 infection are not fully understood. We performed a bibliometric review of studies that have assessed SARS-CoV-2 antibody responses in the pediatric population using Web of Science online databases, VOSviewer and Bibliometrix tools. The analysis was conducted on 84 publications, from 310 institutions located in 29 countries and published in 57 journals. The results showed the collaboration of scientists and organizations, international research interactions and summarized the findings on (i) the measured titers of antibodies (total antibody and/or individual antibody classes IgG, IgM, IgA) against different antigens (C-terminal region of N (N CT), full-length N protein (N FL), RBD, RBD Alpha, RBD Beta, RBD Gamma, RBD Delta, spike (S), S1, S2) in the case of different clinical forms of the disease; and (ii) the correlations between SARS-CoV-2 antibodies and cytokines, chemokines, neutrophils, C-reactive protein, ferritin, and the erythrocyte sedimentation rate. The presented study offers insights regarding research directions to be explored in the studied field and may provide a starting point for future research.

      Parkinson's disease (PD), the most common motoric neurodegenerative illness, has been extensively researched to better understand its complex pathophysiology. Nearly 80% of genome-wide association studies have been conducted on persons of European ancestry, indicating a lack of diversity in human genetics. Disparate representation may result in disparities that impede the equitable adoption of personalized medicine and may also limit our knowledge of illness etiology. Even though Parkinson's disease (PD) is a global affliction, the AfrAbia population remains understudied. We conducted a dynamic and longitudinal bibliometric analysis to investigate existing studies on Parkinson's disease genetics in the AfrAbia area and identify data gaps and possible new research avenues. All PD papers concentrating on PD genetics were found using the search terms "Parkinson's Disease", "Genetics", and "Africa" in the PubMed/MEDLINE database. Only English publications published between 1992 and 2023 were chosen using filters. Original English-language research publications disclosing genetic results on Parkinson's disease in non-European Africans were examined for inclusion. Two sets of independent reviewers discovered and extracted pertinent data. The bibliometric study was carried out using the R software packages Bibliometrix and Biblioshiny. The narrowed search yielded 43 publications, all published between 2006 and 2022. Yet, after applying filters and considering the inclusion requirements, the search results comprise just 16 original articles out of 43 articles. There were 27 articles eliminated. This study puts emphasis on the critical need for more diverse participant demographics in Parkinson's disease investigations. AfrAbia-PD-Genetic Consortium (AAPDGC) is GP2 initiative that helps to represent AfrAbia PD genetics.

       AIM: To evaluate the impact of the post-master PhD degree on publication productivity in neurosurgery.
    MATERIAL AND METHODS: An online national electronic survey was designed based on the recent literature and factors related to publication productivity. The survey was conducted to simply evaluate main bibliometrics of the participants consisting of neurosurgeons in different stages of their career. The survey was distributed via email to all Turkish Neurosurgical Society members.
    RESULTS: A total of 220 neurosurgeons participated and answered the survey. Neurosurgeons that had published their Master's dissertation were found to have significantly higher number of published articles, citations and Hirsch (h)-index during their career (p < 0.001). Neurosurgeons with a PhD degree who have been involved in such program were found to have significantly higher number of published articles and h-index (p < 0.01). A majority of neurosurgeons who were involved in a PhD program were found to work in university hospitals (41.5%) and research and training hospitals (26.8%). Clinical anatomy, neuroscience, and molecular/ genetic biology were the most common PhD programs.
    CONCLUSION: Standardization in measurability of scientific productivity is mandatory to maintain stability and move further in academic activity. PhD programs have a significant contribution to academic performance and scientific productivity. Surgical residents and young neurosurgeons should be encouraged to be involved in such PhD training programs to promote success in both neurosurgery and scientific arenas.

       OBJECTIVES: Our study aimed to determine the publication rates of podium presentations from the 2017 and 2018 Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) Annual Meetings; and to examine rates and predictors of oral presentations that resulted in publication.
    METHODS: We reviewed podium presentations given at the 2017 and 2018 SGO Annual Meetings. Abstracts were evaluated for publication from January 1, 2017 to March 30, 2020 and January 1, 2018 to June 30, 2021, respectively, to allow for a 3 year period of publication.
    RESULTS: In 2017 and 2018, 43 of 75 (57.3%) and 47 of 83 (56.6%) podium presentations were published within 3 years, respectively. No significant difference was found between the mean time to publication within 3 years (13.0 months vs 14.1 months for 2017 and 2018, respectively; p=0.96). Similarly, the mean difference of journal impact factors between both years did not reach significance (6.57 and 10.7 for 2017 and 2018, respectively; p=0.09). The median impact factor (IF) was 4.54 (range: 40.3) and 4.62 (range: 70.7) in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Of the presentations published, 53.4% (2017) and 38.3% (2018) appeared in the journal Gynecologic Oncology. Significant positive correlations for the likelihood of publication were determined among the following: funding status (r=0.93) including funding involving National Institutes for Health (r=0.91) or pharmaceutical (r=0.95), clinical trial study design (r=0.94), and pre-clinical research (r=0.95) (all p<0.005).
    CONCLUSIONS: At the 2017 and 2018 SGO Annual Meetings 57% of podium presentations were published in a peer-reviewed journal within 3 years. Publication in peer-reviewed journals is crucial for timely distribution of clinical information to the medical community.

The findings reveal that higher education is a substantial worry for scientists, particularly in 2015-2019. Furthermore, research indicates a significant body of knowledge on the function of higher education in national development related to human resources, economic growth, and other social issues. Finally, the research suggests strategies for promoting higher education's involvement in meeting the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

      There is growing evidence that gut microbiota dysbiosis is linked to the etiopathogenesis of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), from the initial stage of disease until the progressive stage of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and the final stage of cirrhosis. Conversely, probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics have shown promise in restoring dysbiosis and lowering clinical indicators of disease in a number of both preclinical and clinical studies. Additionally, postbiotics and parabiotics have recently garnered some attention. The purpose of this bibliometric analysis is to assess recent publishing trends concerning the role of the gut microbiome in the progression of NAFLD, NASH and cirrhosis and its connection with biotics. The free access version of the Dimensions scientific research database was used to find publications in this field from 2002 to 2022. VOSviewer and Dimensions' integrated tools were used to analyze current research trends. Research into the following topics is expected to emerge in this field: (1) evaluation of risk factors which are correlated with the progression of NAFLD, such as obesity and metabolic syndrome; (2) pathogenic mechanisms, such as liver inflammation through toll-like receptors activation, or alteration of short-chain fatty acids metabolisms, which contribute to NAFLD development and its progression in more severe forms, such as cirrhosis; (3) therapy for cirrhosis through dysbiosis reduction, and research on hepatic encephalopathy a common consequence of cirrhosis; (4) evaluation of diversity, and composition of gut microbiome under NAFLD, and as it varies under NASH and cirrhosis by rRNA gene sequencing, a tool which can also be used for the development of new probiotics and explore into the impact of biotics on the gut microbiome; (5) treatments to reduce dysbiosis with new probiotics, such as Akkermansia, or with fecal microbiome transplantation.

      Background and objective Urology residency match occurs through the American Urological Association (AUA), and hence information about the success of applicants in finding a match is not readily available. The average number of publications a successful urology applicant has when applying for residency is unknown. In light of this, we conducted this study to examine the number of PubMed-indexed research projects involving US senior medical students who successfully matched into the top 50 urology residency programs in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 match cycles. We also assessed these applicants based on their medical schools and gender. Methods Doximity Residency Navigator was used to generate the top 50 residency programs as sorted by reputation. Newly matched residents were found using program Twitter accounts and residency program websites. PubMed was queried for peer-reviewed publications of incoming interns. Results The average number of publications across all incoming interns in the three years was 3.65. The average number of urology-specific publications was 1.86 and that of first-author urology publications was 1.11. The median number of total publications for matched applicants was 2, and applicants with a total of five publications were in the 75th percentile for research productivity. Conclusion A successful applicant had two PubMed-indexed urology papers on average and also had a urology-specific first-author paper in the cycles we surveyed. There has been an increase in publications per applicant when comparing the results to previous application cycles, which can be attributed to post-pandemic changes.

       BACKGROUND: The surgeon-scientist brings a unique perspective to surgical research. The Association of Academic Surgeons and Society of University Surgeons foster the development of surgeon-scientists through foundation awards to residents and junior faculty. We sought to evaluate the academic success of surgeons who received an Association for Academic Surgery/Society of University Surgeons award.
    METHODS: Information was collected for individuals who received a resident or junior faculty research award from the Association for Academic Surgery or Society of University Surgeons. Google Scholar, Scopus, and the National Institutes of Health Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tools: Expenditures and Results were used to assess scholarly achievements.
    RESULTS: Eighty-two resident awardees were included, 31 (38%) of whom were female. Thirteen (24%) are now professors, 12 (22%) are division chiefs, and 4 (7%) are department chairs. Resident awardees have a median of 886 citations (interquartile range 237-2,111) and an H-index of 14 (interquartile range 7-23). Seven (13%) went on to receive K08/K23 awards, and 7 (13%) received R01s, with a total of about $200 million in National Institutes of Health funding (79-fold return on investment). Thirty-four junior faculty awardees were included, 10 (29%) of whom were female. Thirteen (38%) are now professors, 12 (35%) are division chiefs, and 7 (21%) are department chairs. Faculty awardees have a median of 2,617 citations (interquartile range 1,343-7,857) and an H-index of 25 (interquartile range 18-49). Four (12%) received K08 or K23 awards, and 10 (29%) received R01s, with about $139 million in National Institutes of Health funding (98-fold return on investment).
    CONCLUSION: Association for Academic Surgery/Society of University Surgeons research awardees experience high degrees of success in academic surgery. Most resident awardees pursue fellowship training and remain in academic surgery. A high percentage of both faculty and resident awardees hold leadership positions and successfully achieve National Institutes of Health funding.

       BACKGROUND: Interventional radiology (IR) and interventional endoscopy (IE) have broad potential for minimally invasive therapy in veterinary patients, but the scope of original peer-reviewed veterinary IR/IE research publications has not been described.
    OBJECTIVES: Catalogue published applications and indications for noncardiac therapeutic IR/IE in animals and describe type and quality of veterinary IR/IE research over 20 years.
    METHODS: Highly-cited veterinary journals were searched to identify articles published 2000 to 2019 involving therapeutic IR/IE applications for clinical veterinary patients. Articles were assigned a level of evidence (LOE) according to published standards. Authorship, animal data, study design, and interventions were described. Change in publication rate, study size, and LOE of IR/IE articles over time was analyzed.
    RESULTS: One hundred fifty-nine of 15 512 (1%) articles were eligible, including 2972 animals. All studies were low LOE and 43% were case reports with ≤5 animals. Number of IR/IE articles per year (P < .001), proportion of journals' articles pertaining to IR/IE (P = .02), and study size (P = .04) all increased over time, but LOE (P = .07) did not. Common target body systems were urinary (40%), digestive (23%) respiratory (20%), and vascular (13%). Common indications were nonvascular luminal obstructions (47%), object retrieval (14%), and congenital anomalies (13%). Most procedures involved indwelling medical devices or embolic agents, whereas tissue resection and other procedures were less common. Procedures utilized fluoroscopy (43%), endoscopy (33%), ultrasound (8%), digital radiography (1%), or fluoroscopy in combination with other modalities (16%).
    CONCLUSIONS: Treatments involving IR/IE have wide applicability in veterinary medicine but large, rigorous, and comparative studies describing these procedures are lacking.

       PURPOSE: To investigate the determinants of fraud in medical imaging research.
    METHOD: This study analyzed aggregated survey data on scientific integrity completed by 877 corresponding authors who published in imaging journals in 2021. Multivariate regression analyses were performed to determine the association of scientific fraud with the following variables: survey participants' age (<18, 18-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, or > 65 years), gender (male, female, or other), Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) of their country of work (linear 0-100 scale), academic degree (medical doctor or other), academic position (none, fellow/resident, instructor/ lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor, full professor, or other), and years of research experience (<5, 5-10, or > 10 years).
    RESULTS: Thirty-seven survey participants (4.2%) indicated they had committed scientific fraud in the past 5 years, and 223 (25.4%) indicated they had witnessed or suspected scientific fraud by departmental colleagues in the past 5 years. Instructors/lecturers were significantly more likely (P = 0.029) and fellows/residents were nearly significantly more likely (P = 0.050) to have committed scientific fraud, with odds ratios (ORs) of 4.954 and 5.156, respectively (Nagelkerke R2 of 0.114). Survey participants > 65 years of age and survey participants working in less corrupt countries were significantly less likely (P = 0.022 and P = 0.044, respectively) to have witnessed or suspected scientific fraud committed by their departmental colleagues, with ORs of 0.412 and 0.988 (per unit increase in CPI), respectively (Nagelkerke R2 of 0.064).
    CONCLUSIONS: Fraud in medical imaging research appears to be more common among junior faculty and in more corrupt countries.

      Service design and in particular co-design are approaches able to align with the need of healthcare contexts of value-based and patient-centered processing through a participatory design of services. The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of co-design and its applicability to the reengineering of healthcare services, as well as to detect the peculiarities of the application of this approach in different geographical contexts. The methodology applied for the review, Systematic Literature Network Analysis (SLNA), combines qualitative and quantitative perspectives. In detail, the analysis applied the paper citation networks and the co-word network analysis to detect the main research trends over time and to identify the most relevant publications. The results of the analysis highlight the backbone of literature on the application of co-design in healthcare as well as the advantages and the critical factors of the approach. Three main literature streams emerged concerning the integration of the approach at meso and micro level, the implementation of co-design at mega and macro level, and the impacts on non-clinical related outcomes. Moreover, the findings underline differences in co-design in terms of impacts and success factors in developed countries and economies in transition or developing countries. The analysis shows the potentially added value of the application of a participatory approach to the design and redesign of healthcare services both at different levels of the healthcare organization and in the contexts of developed countries and economies in transition or developing countries. The evidence also highlights potentialities and critical success factors of the application of co-design in healthcare services redesign.

       Purpose: Review the current research status of the theory, techniques, and practice of digital humanities in Taiwan.
    Methods: Select the 8 issues of the Journal of Digital Archives and Digital Humanities from its inception in 2018-2021, and the papers of the 5-year International Conference of Digital Archives and Digital Humanities from 2017 to 2021 as the research data, and conduct text analysis of the collected 252 articles.
    Results: From the statistical analysis results, the number of practical articles is the largest, followed by tools and techniques, and the least number of theoretical articles. Text tools and literature research are the most concentrated aspects of digital humanities research in Taiwan.
    Limitations: It still needs to be further compared with the current research status of digital humanities in Mainland China.
    Conclusions: Digital humanities in Taiwan focuses on the development of tools and techniques, and practical applications of literature and history, and focuses on Taiwan's native culture to form its own digital humanities research characteristics.

      This study presents a systematic literature review aimed at mapping the main areas of study on the relationship between higher education institutions' strategic alliances and sustainable entrepreneurship. To that end, it carried out three complementary analyses: topic mapping, co-citation, and overlay visualization, in order to provide a comprehensive picture of that relationship from 1994 to 2022. The empirical approach is based on a total sample of 207 articles published in the Web of Science database, which was screened in terms of title, abstract and keywords, and subject to a search protocol involving inclusion and exclusion criteria. Using VOSviewer software, a three-pronged approach is used to identify five topic clusters: (1) The impact of entrepreneurship on community sustainability and social innovation; (2) Strategic alliances for sustainable development, innovation, and performance; (3) Value creation through social entrepreneurship partnerships; (4) Challenges for knowledge-based sustainable cities; and (5) Collaboration between businesses and social enterprises; revealing the role of knowledge, co-creation, sustainable entrepreneurship, and social innovation as levers of sustainable development. As a result of this systematic literature review, a holistic research framework is proposed, positioning sustainable entrepreneurship as a priority target for strategic alliances in higher education institutions, with reference to the experience of implementing the European University concept. This framework helps to position joint cooperation and strategic alliances among the major stakeholders in knowledge-based economies, which frequently leads to knowledge-based development based on sustainable entrepreneurship.

       PURPOSE: To identify trends in female pediatric ophthalmologist authorship and representation at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Annual Meeting from 2018 to 2022.
    METHODS: Participant data from 2018 to 2022 were collected from the AAO website, organized by conference activity (papers, posters, instruction courses, videos, symposia, subspecialty day, and awards), and analyzed by sex using an online tool. Chi-squared and odds ratio analyses were performed to determine trends in authorship sex and associations between the sex of paper and poster authors in each category.
    RESULTS: Of 923 pediatric ophthalmology presentations from 2018 to 2022, 46.2% (426 of 923) of presenters and 46.6% (281 of 603) of unique individual participants were women. Overall, 48% (174 of 362) of first and senior authors of papers and posters were women. No significant difference or association between female first and female senior authors was observed (52% vs 44%, P = .14; odds ratio 1.59, P = .13). There was no significant change in the proportion of total female presenters from 2018 to 2019 (-3.09%, P = .53), 2019 to 2020 (0.76%, P = .88), 2020 to 2021 (9.09%, P = .09), 2021 to 2022 (-5.68%, P = .30), or 2018 to 2022 (1.08%, P = .84).
    CONCLUSIONS: Since 2018, female representation at the AAO Annual Meeting has remained consistent and nears 50%. The lack of a significant difference between the proportion of female first and senior authors suggests that junior female pediatric ophthalmologists are climbing the ranks and more broadly engaging in mentorship roles. Considering the increasing proportion of female pediatric ophthalmologists, the absence of corollary, statistically significant increases in female participation may be of concern.       Solar photovoltaic-thermal hybrid with phase change material (PVT-PCM) emerges as an intelligent game changer to stimulate the clean, reliable, and affordable renewable energy technology. This PVT-PCM technology can be manipulated into generating both electricity and thermal energy that feature its practicality for residential and industrial applications. Hybridized of PCM into PVT design adds value to existing architecture with its capability to store excess heat that can be used during insufficient solar irradiation. Present work gives overview of the PVT-PCM system on technology innovation toward commercialization (viz, solar end game) subjected to bibliometric analysis, research and development evolution, and patent activity. A consolidation of these review articles was decluttered to focus on the performance and efficiency of PVT-PCM technology based on the fact that commercialization is ready once the technology is completed and qualified (at technology readiness level, TRL: 8). Economic review was conducted to understand the feasibility of the existing solar technologies and how it affects the PVT-PCM market price. Based on the contemporary findings, promising performance of PVT-PCM technology has underpinned its feasibility and technology readiness. China has predominant local and international framework and expected to be the PVT-PCM technology trendsetter in the next years through its strong international collaborative projects and pioneer in PVT-PCM patent filing. This present work underscores the solar end-game strategy and recommendation to create a path forward to achieve clean energy transition. Though, as to the date of submission of this article, no industry  has found to manufacture/sell this hybrid technology in the market.

       OBJECTIVE: To characterize the demographics, educational background, and scholarly characteristics of current urology residency program directors (PDs).
    METHODS: Urology programs were identified by the listing on the "Accredited US Urology Programs" section of American Urological Association website as of October 2021. Demographics and academic data were collected via publicly available department website and Google search engine. Metrics obtained included years of service as program director from time of appointment, sex, medical school/residency/fellowship, all-time H-index, dual degrees obtained, and professorial ranking.
    RESULTS: One hundred and forty-seven accredited urological residencies were reviewed; every PD was included. The majority were male (78%) and fellowship trained (68%). Women represented only 22% of PDs. The median active time served as PD, as of 11/2021, was 4 years (IQR: 2-7). Forty (28%) were faculty at the same program they completed their residency. The median all-time H-index was 12 (IQR: 7-19; range 1-61). Twelve program directors also served as chair of their department.
    CONCLUSIONS: The vast majority of program directors are male, fellowship trained, and have served for less than five years. Future studies are necessary to follow the trends of representation in leaders of urology residency programs.

       OBJECTIVES: Academic researchers and physicians have called for greater use of cost-effectiveness analyses in informing treatment and reimbursement decisions. This study examines the availability of cost-effectiveness analyses for medical devices, in terms of both the number of studies and when studies are published.
    STUDY DESIGN: Analysis of the number of years between FDA approval/clearance and publication for cost-effectiveness analyses of medical devices in the United States published between 2002 and 2020 (n = 86).
    METHODS: Cost-effectiveness analyses of medical devices were identified using the Tufts University Cost-Effectiveness Analysis Registry. Studies in which the model and manufacturer of the medical device used in the intervention were identifiable were linked to FDA databases. Years between FDA approval/clearance and publication of cost-effectiveness analyses were calculated.
    RESULTS: A total of 218 cost-effectiveness analyses of medical devices in the United States published between 2002 and 2020 were identified. Of these studies, 86 (39.4%) were linked to FDA databases. Studies examining devices approved via premarket approval were published a mean of 6.0 years after the device received FDA approval (median, 4 years), whereas studies examining devices that were cleared via the 510(k) process were published a mean of 6.5 years after the device received FDA clearance (median, 5 years).
    CONCLUSIONS: There are few studies describing the cost-effectiveness of medical devices. Most of these studies' findings are not published until several years after the studied devices received FDA approval/clearance, meaning that decision makers will likely not have evidence of cost-effectiveness when making initial decisions related to newly available medical devices.

      Background: Academic sabbaticals are seen as an important aspect of academic life and require considerable resources, however, little research has been done into how they are used and whether their effects can be measured. We explored these issues at the University of Cambridge. Methods: A mixed method approach including 24 interviews with academics, eight interviews with administrators; alongside analysis of administrative and publication data between 2010 and 2019. Results: Academics underline the importance of sabbaticals in providing uninterrupted time for research that is used to think, explore new ideas, master new techniques, develop new collaborations, draw together previous work, set work in a wider context, and provide personal discretion in research direction. They also highlight sabbaticals' contributions in allowing the beneficial effects of combining teaching and research, while mitigating some of the disadvantages. However, it is difficult to detect the effect of sabbaticals on publications using a time series approach. Conclusions: Sabbaticals provide manifold contributions to academic research at the University of Cambridge; however, detecting and quantifying this contribution, and extending these findings requires wider and more detailed investigation.
