      BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a major health killer worldwide, and the role of epigenetic regulation in CVD has been widely studied in recent decades. Herein, we perform a bibliometric study to decipher how research topics in this field have evolved during the past 2 decades.RESULTS: Publications on epigenetics in CVD produced during the period 2000-2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). We utilized Bibliometrix to build a science map of the publications and applied VOSviewer and CiteSpace to assess co-authorship, co-citation, co-occurrence, and bibliographic coupling. In total, 27,762 publications were included for bibliometric analysis. The yearly amount of publications experienced exponential growth. The top 3 most influential countries were China, the United States, and Germany, while the most cited institutions were Nanjing Medical University, Harbin Medical University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Four major research trends were identified: (a) epigenetic mechanisms of CVD; (b) epigenetics-based therapies for CVD; (c) epigenetic profiles of specific CVDs; and (d) epigenetic biomarkers for CVD diagnosis/prediction. The latest and most important research topics, including "nlrp3 inflammasome", "myocardial injury", and "reperfusion injury", were determined by detecting citation bursts of co-occurring keywords. The most cited reference was a review of the current knowledge about how miRNAs recognize target genes and modulate their expression and function.
    CONCLUSIONS: The number and impact of global publications on epigenetics in CVD have expanded rapidly over time. Our findings may provide insights into the epigenetic basis of CVD pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment.

      Background: Limb salvage surgery in osteosarcoma requires a multidisciplinary team of experts, due to which research interest has remained limited globally. This article analyzes research trends over 15 years from 2007 to 2022.Materials and Methods: Publications on limb salvage surgery in osteosarcoma were retrieved using the Web of Science. Bibliometric analysis of the publication metadata was done using R software. VOS viewer software was used to analyze the bibliographic coupling, co-citation, co-authorship, and co-occurrence to report the current trends in global research on limb salvage surgery in osteosarcoma.
    Results: A total of 693 articles were retrieved. On applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a publication metadata of 276 articles was analyzed using the methodology mentioned. Annual scientific production on the subject has shown a steady rising trend globally. China has the highest number of publications on the topic; however, the USA has the highest citations globally. The Journal "Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research" remains the pioneer in the topic with the highest number of publications and H index among all journals. Most of the research interest is generated in the developed countries of the USA, Europe, and China. Keyword analysis suggested 4 clusters of surgical reconstruction, Survival, Chemotherapy, and general management related. Newer keywords such as biological reconstructions, allograft, metastases, cell, and chemotherapy suggest future research topics in the field.
    Conclusion: Research interest in limb salvage surgery in osteosarcoma continues to grow with the introduction of concepts such as biological reconstructions and allografts. However, for more inclusive research on the topic, research interest must also be encouraged in underdeveloped and developing countries.

      Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F (TwHF) has been widely used to relieve rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in many countries. However, a bibliometric analysis of published articles discussing this treatment has not been conducted. This study aimed to explore the current status and trends of TwHF for treating RA. Literature was extracted from the Science Citation Index Expanded Database of the Web of Science from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2022. CiteSpace and the "bibliometrix" package were adopted to analyze the number of publications, countries, institutions, journals, authors, and keywords and to draw collaborative network maps. One hundred sixty-seven articles were identified. China has the most articles, followed by the United States. The China Academy of Chinese Medical Science had the study's most significant publications and the highest centrality. The author analysis combined with the analysis of the cited authors, the rank of Lin Na is in an important position. The Journal of Ethnopharmacology, Frontiers in Pharmacology has published the most relevant articles and is the hottest related journal. For keyword analysis, "classification," "criteria," "mechanism," and "methotrexate" were still being researched hot until 2022. Further investigation showed that "TNF-α," "proliferation," "endothelial growth factor," "NF-κB," and "collagen-induced arthritis" also remains research hotspot. Our results provide information on the research status, institutions, countries, authors, published journals, keywords related to using TwHF to treat RA, and theoretical support for further research.

      Tooth agenesis, one of the most common developmental defects in humans, not only impairs oral function but can also lead to craniofacial deformities. Bibliometric analysis can reveal significant shifts in research and publishing trends within specific fields. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the research hotspots in tooth agenesis and predict future trends through bibliometric analysis. We searched for English-language publications related to tooth agenesis from 2001 to 2021 on the Web of Science. The publications were limited to original and review articles, and bibliometric parameters such as publication year, country, institution, author, journal, citations, and keywords were extracted and analyzed using VOSviewer, Microsoft Excel 2010, and CiteSpace. A total of 2,287 papers were ultimately selected. The results show that the USA holds a leading position in the field of tooth agenesis research. A total of 9,803 authors participated in these studies, with Alexandre R Vieira from the USA being the most prolific and most cited author. This study indicates that multidisciplinary management has become the consensus first choice for treating dental agenesis. Gene mutations related to tooth agenesis continue to be a research hotspot attracting scholarly attention. Exploring the relationship between tooth agenesis and cancer may be a future research direction. These findings contribute to potential collaborations among experts in future research on the genetic causes of tooth agenesis and tumor development and to assist the scientific community by identifying research gaps in this field.

      Background: Allopregnanolone is a kind of neuroactive steroid or neurosteroid in the central nervous system that acts as an endogenenous GABAA receptor positive modulator. However, at present, no comprehensive bibliometric analysis regarding allopregnanolone research is available. In our study, we intend to analyze the research trends and hot spots related to allopregnanolone in the past 20 years.Methods: We searched for allopregnanolone related articles and reviews between 2004 and 2023 from the Web of Science Core Collection database. Then, the bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, Microsoft Excel 2019, as well as the online bibliometric analysis platform (http://bibliometric.com/).
    Results: A total of 1841 eligible publications were identified. The number of annual publications and citations was generally on the rise. Among countries, the United States ranked first in overall publications, citations, international cooperation, and the number of research institutions. The University of North Carolina was the most active institution, conducting numerous preclinical and clinical work that focusing on allopregnanolone treatment for diverse psychiatric or neurologic disorders. As for authors, Dr. Frye CA, Morrow AL, and Pinna G were identified as the top three prolific scholars due to their great publications and citations. Based on the publication clusters and citation bursts analysis, the keyword co-occurrence network, the strongest citation bursts, and co-cited references analysis, the hot spots in recent years included "depression", "postpartum depression", "GABAA receptor", and so on.
    Conclusion: Allopregnanolone is still a popular area of research, and the United States leads the way in this area. Dr. Frye CA, Morrow AL, Pinna G, and their teams contributed greatly to the mechanism study and translation study of allopregnanolone. The use of allopregnanolone for the treatment of psychiatric or neurologic disorders, especially postpartum depression, is the current hot spot. However, the underlying mechanisms of anti-depression are still not clear, deserving more in-depth research.

      Background: Doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity represents a prevalent adverse effect encountered in patients undergoing treatment with doxorubicin. To date, there has been no bibliometric study to summarize the field of doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity. In our study, we aim to determine the current status and frontiers of doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity by bibliometric analysis. Methods: The documents concerning doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity are obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database (WOSCC), and VOSviewer 1.6.16, CiteSpace 5.1.3 and the WOSCC's literature analysis wire were used to conduct the bibliometric analysis. Results: In total, 7,021 publications were encompassed, which are produced by 37,152 authors and 6,659 organizations, 1,323 journals, and 101 countries/regions. The most productive author, institution, country and journal were Bonnie Ky with 35 publications, University of Texas with 190 documents, the United States with 1,912 publications, and PLOS ONE with 120 documents. The first high-cited article was published in the NEJM with 8,134 citations authored by DJ Slamon et al., in 2001. For keyword analysis, there are four clusters depicted in distinct directions. The keywords in the red cluster are oxidative stress, apoptosis, and cardiomyopathy. The keywords in the green cluster are cardiotoxicity, heart failure, and anthracycline. The keywords in the blue cluster are chemotherapy, trastuzumab, and paclitaxel. The keywords in the purple cluster are doxorubicin, adriamycin, and cancer. Most of the documents were derived from the United States, China and Italy (4,080/7,021, 58.1%). The number of studies from other countries should be increased. Conclusion: In conclusion, the main research hotspots and frontiers in the field of doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity include the role of doxorubicin in cardiotoxicity, the mechanisms underlying doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity, and the development of treatment strategies for doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity. More studies are needed to explore the mechanisms and treatment of doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity.

      Background: The utilization of antibiotic adjuvants presents a promising strategy for addressing bacterial resistance. Recently, the development of antibiotic adjuvants has attracted considerable attention from researchers in academia and industry. This study aimed to identify the most influential publications on antibiotic adjuvants and elucidate the hotspots and research trends in this field. Method: Original articles and reviews related to antibiotic adjuvants were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The top 100 highly cited publications were selected and the visual analyses of publication outputs, countries, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords were conducted using Excel, VOSviewer, or CtieSpace software tools. Results: The top 100 cited publications concerning antibiotic adjuvants spanned the years 1977-2020, with citation counts ranging from 174 to 2,735. These publications encompassed 49 original articles and 51 reviews. The journal "Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy" accounted for the highest number of publications (12%). The top 100 cited publications emanated from 39 countries, with the United States leading in production. Institutions in Canada and the United States exhibited the most substantial contributions to these highly cited publications. A total of 526 authors participated in these studies, with Robert E.W. Hancock, Laura J. V. Piddock, Xian-Zhi Li, Hiroshi Nikaido, and Olga Lomovskaya emerging as the most frequently nominated authors. The most common keywords included "E. coli", "P. aeruginosa", "S. aureus", "in-vitro activity", "antimicrobial peptide", "efflux pump inhibitor" "efflux pump", "MexAB-OprM" and "mechanism". These keywords underscored the hotspots of bacterial resistance mechanisms and the development of novel antibiotic adjuvants. Conclusion: Through the bibliometric analysis, this study identified the top 100 highly cited publications on antibiotic adjuvants. Moreover, the findings offered a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics and frontiers in this field.

      Background and purpose: Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a prevalent global disorder of the upper digestive tract characterized by functional impairment. It often coexists with anxiety/depression, significantly impairing occupational productivity and overall quality of life. This study aimed to identify emerging patterns and prominent themes within FD and anxiety/depression research through bibliometric analysis to help explore new innovative avenues for investigating this type of FD.Methods: A comprehensive review of literature encompassing FD and anxiety/depression was conducted using the Science Citation Index Extension of the Web of Science Core Collection from 2003 to 2023. Information extracted comprised "Full Record and Cited References." Bibliometric analysis of relevant publications, including country, institution, author, journal, citations, and keywords, was conducted using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Bibliometrix package in R and Excel.
    Results: Studies related to FD and anxiety/depression have demonstrated an ascending trajectory since 2003. Our bibliometric analysis identified 338 studies published by 2023. NEUROGASTROENTEROLOGY AND MOTILITY emerged as the most prolific journal, while GASTROENTEROLOGY retained pre-eminence within the top 10 published journals. China emerged as the most prolific country, with two institutions within the top 10 in terms of volume of publications. The Mayo Clinic stood as the foremost institution in terms of publication volume, with the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine exhibiting robust collaborative engagement. Eminent author influence was attributed to Talley NJ of Newcastle University, Australia. Clusters of extensively cited papers and prevalent keywords delineate the status and trend of FD and anxiety/depression research. This encompasses FD, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and functional gastrointestinal disorders. Furthermore, the timeline view map or trend-term analysis suggested that duodenal low-grade inflammation ("duodenal eosinophilia" and "mast cells") might be a new concern associated with FD and anxiety/depression.
    Conclusion: Employing bibliometric analysis, this study revealed prevalent focal areas and new trends within FD and anxiety/depression research. These insights serve as valuable guidance for scholars seeking to delve into new research avenues.

      Background: With the rapid development of the internet, the improvement of computer capabilities, and the continuous advancement of algorithms, deep learning has developed rapidly in recent years and has been widely applied in many fields. Previous studies have shown that deep learning has an excellent performance in image processing, and deep learning-based medical image processing may help solve the difficulties faced by traditional medical image processing. This technology has attracted the attention of many scholars in the fields of computer science and medicine. This study mainly summarizes the knowledge structure of deep learning-based medical image processing research through bibliometric analysis and explores the research hotspots and possible development trends in this field.Methods: Retrieve the Web of Science Core Collection database using the search terms "deep learning," "medical image processing," and their synonyms. Use CiteSpace for visual analysis of authors, institutions, countries, keywords, co-cited references, co-cited authors, and co-cited journals.
    Results: The analysis was conducted on 562 highly cited papers retrieved from the database. The trend chart of the annual publication volume shows an upward trend. Pheng-Ann Heng, Hao Chen, and Klaus Hermann Maier-Hein are among the active authors in this field. Chinese Academy of Sciences has the highest number of publications, while the institution with the highest centrality is Stanford University. The United States has the highest number of publications, followed by China. The most frequent keyword is "Deep Learning," and the highest centrality keyword is "Algorithm." The most cited author is Kaiming He, and the author with the highest centrality is Yoshua Bengio.
    Conclusion: The application of deep learning in medical image processing is becoming increasingly common, and there are many active authors, institutions, and countries in this field. Current research in medical image processing mainly focuses on deep learning, convolutional neural networks, classification, diagnosis, segmentation, image, algorithm, and artificial intelligence. The research focus and trends are gradually shifting toward more complex and systematic directions, and deep learning technology will continue to play an important role.

      BACKGROUND: A scientific and comprehensive analysis of the current status and trends in the field of cancer-associated fibroblast (CAF) research is worth investigating. This study aims to investigate and visualize the development, research frontiers, and future trends in CAFs both quantitatively and qualitatively based on a bibliometric approach.METHODS: A total of 5518 publications were downloaded from the Science Citation Index Expanded of Web of Science Core Collection from 1999 to 2021 and identified for bibliometric analysis. Visualized approaches, OriginPro (version 9.8.0.200) and R (version 4.2.0) software tools were used to perform bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis.
    RESULTS: The number of publications on CAFs increased each year, and the same tendency was observed in the RRI. Apart from China, the countries with the largest number of publications and the most cited frequency were mainly Western developed countries, especially the USA. Cancers was the journal with the largest number of articles published in CAFs, and Oncology was the most popular research orientation. The most productive author was Lisanti MP, and the University of Texas System was ranked first in the institutions. In addition, the topics of CAFs could be divided into five categories, including tumor classification, prognostic study, oncologic therapies, tumor metabolism and tumor microenvironment.
    CONCLUSIONS: This is the first thoroughly scientific bibliometric analysis and visualized study of the global research field on CAFs over the past 20 years. The study may provide benefits for researchers to master CAFs' dynamic evolution and research trends.

      Objective: This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis on pelvic parameter related research over the last 30 years, analyzing trends, hotspots, and influential works within this field.Methods: A comprehensive Web of Science database search was performed. The search yielded 3249 results, focusing on articles and reviews published from 1992 to 2022 in English. Data was analyzed using CiteSpace and VOSviewer for keyword, authorship, and citation burst analysis, co-citation analysis, and clustering.
    Results: The number of publications and citations related to pelvic parameters has increased exponentially over the last 30 years. The USA leads in publication count with 1003 articles. Top publishing journals include the European Spine Journal, Spine, and Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine, with significant contributions by Schwab, Lafage V, and Protoptaltis. The most influential articles were identified using centrality and sigma values, indicating their role as key articles within the field. Research hotspots included spinal deformity, total hip arthroplasty, and sagittal alignment.
    Conclusion: Interest in pelvic parameter related research has grown significantly over the last three decades, indicating its relevance in modern orthopedics. The most influential works within this field have contributed to our understanding of spinal deformity, pelvic incidence, and their relation to total hip arthroplasty. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the trends and influential research in the field of pelvic parameters.

      Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by the presence of gray matter lesions and alterations in white matter. This study aims to investigate the research related to white matter in the context of AD from a Bibliometric standpoint.Methods: Regular and review articles focusing on the research pertaining to Alzheimer's disease (AD) and white matter were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database, covering the period from its inception to 10th July 2023. The "Bibliometrix" R package was employed to summarize key findings, to quantify the occurrence of top keywords, and to visualize the collaborative network among countries. Furthermore, VOSviewer software was utilized to conduct co-authorship and co-occurrence analyses. CiteSpace was employed to identify the most influential references and keywords based on their citation bursts. The retrieval of AD- and white matter-related publications was conducted by the Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometric analysis and visualization, including the examination of annual publication distribution, prominent countries, active institutions and authors, core journals, co-cited references, and keywords, were carried out by using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, the Bibliometrix Package, and the ggplot2 Package. The quality and impact of publications were assessed using the total global citation score and total local citation score.
    Results: A total of 5,714 publications addressing the intersection of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and white matter were included in the analysis. The majority of publications originated from the United States, China, and the United Kingdom. Prominent journals were heavily featured in the publication output. In addition to "Alzheimer's disease" and "white matter," "mild cognitive impairment," "MRI" and "atrophy" had been frequently utilized as "keywords."
    Conclusion: This Bibliometric investigation delineated a foundational knowledge framework that encompasses countries, institutions, authors, journals, and articles within the AD and white matter research domain spanning from 1981 to 2023. The outcomes provide a comprehensive perspective on the broader landscape of this research field.

      INTRODUCTION: In addition to bibliometric scores, which are an indicator of academic popularity, it has become frequently used in altmetric scoring that shows the visibility of articles on social media and the internet. In this study, 100 most-cited studies on holmium laser enucleation prostatectomy (HoLEP) were examined, and it was investigated whether the number of citations per year of these studies was affected by altmetric and bibliometric scores.METHODS: The 100 most-cited HoLEP articles between 2000 and 2020 were included in the study. Some bibliometric scores such as h-indexes, impact factors, Scientific Journal Rankings (SJR) scores of the journals and demographics of the articles (such as the number of the citations per year, total number of citations, and total altmetric scores) were recorded. The effects of altmetric and bibliometric scores on the number of citations per year were evaluated by correlation analysis.
    RESULTS: The median number of citations per year of the articles was 5.88 (4.69-8.42). It was determined that altmetric scores were not an effective factor on the number of citations per year (p = 0.335). A moderate relationship was found between the journal impact factor and the number of citations per year (p < 0.001, r = 0.471, R2 = 0.251). Journal h-index (p < 0.001, r = 0.424, R2 = 0.084), the SJR score (p < 0.001, r = 0.374, R2 = 0.254), and the publication year of the article (p = 0.001, r = 0.326, R2 = 0.023) were significantly but weakly correlated with the median number of citations per year.
    CONCLUSION: It was seen that the number of citations per year, which is the most important academic quality indicator, is not related to the altmetric scores. In addition, traditional bibliometric parameters still maintain their effectiveness on the number of citations.

      Pyrolysis has become an interesting waste valorization method leading to an increasing number of research studies in this field in the last decade. The present study aims to provide a comprehensive knowledge map of scientific production in pyrolysis, discuss the current state of research, and identify the main research hotspots and trends in recent years. The systematic review, supported by analysis of countries and institutions, keyword co-occurrence analysis, analysis of keyword trends, journal analysis, and article impact, was carried out on 6234 journal articles from the Science Citation Index Expanded database of the Web of Science Core Collection. As a result, four main research hotspots were identified: 1) characterization techniques and pyrolysis kinetic models, 2) biochar production and its main applications, 3) bio-oil production and catalytic pyrolysis, and 4) co-pyrolysis, which has become a consolidated research hotspot since 2018. Additionally, the main challenges and opportunities for future research have been identified, such as 1) the development of multi-step kinetic models for studying complex wastes, 2) the integration of biochar into other valorization processes, such as anaerobic digestion, and 3) the development of catalytic hydropyrolysis for the valorization of organic waste. This bibliometric analysis provides a visualization of the current context and future trends in pyrolysis, facilitating future collaborative research and knowledge exchange.

      PURPOSE: To illustrate the results achieved by genes in premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and collaborations in the field, and to explore key themes and future directions.METHODS: Articles and reviews related to POI genes published between 1990 and 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science core collection (WoSCC) for the total bibliometric analysis. Tools were analyzed for publication, country, institution, journal, authors, reference, keywords, subject categories, funding agencies, and research hotspots using a bibliometric online analysis platform, Bibliographic Co-occurrence Matrix Builder (BICOMB), CiteSpace V, and VOSviewer.
    RESULTS: A total of 2,232 papers were included in this study. Articles were published in 52 countries, with the United States publishing the most, followed by China. A total of 308 institutions contributed to relevant publications. Shandong University published the most papers. Qin Y's team published the most relevant papers. Human reproduction and fertility and sterility are the two journals with the most papers. X-chromosome abnormalities, transcription factor mutations, and FMR1 genes are the directions of more POI, and DNA repair is the keyword of the research frontier in recent years.
    CONCLUSIONS: This study summarizes the relevant literature on POI gene research for the first time and analyzes the current hotspots and future trends in this field. The findings can further reveal the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of POI, which is beneficial for researchers to grasp the genetic dynamics of POI women.

      BACKGROUND: The search for alternatives to improve physical performance is rising, and in recent years has been focused on the brain. No bibliometric study analyzing research on physical activity (PA) and transcranial stimulation has been found in the scientific literature. Aims: To provide an overview of the existing scientific research on PA and transcranial brain stimulation in healthy and sports participants, using a bibliometric analysis and graphic mapping of the references in the field. To do this, we analyze annual publication trends in this area, identifying the most productive and cited authors, journals and countries with the highest number of publications, and the most cited documents and keywords.METHODS: Those publications related to this area, published in journals indexed in the web of science main collection were retrieved and analyzed using the traditional laws of bibliometrics.
    RESULTS: A total of 305 documents were found. Annual publications followed an exponential growth trend (R2 = 94.2%); with A. J. Pearce (9 documents) is the most productive coauthor and M.C. Ridding, H. Theoret and M. Lassonde as the most prominent (with 5 most cited papers). The USA (67 papers) and the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience (12 papers) were the most productive country and journal respectively. The paper "Action anticipation and motor resonance in elite basketball players" was the most cited paper and "transcranial magnetic stimulation" was the most used keyword.
    CONCLUSION: There are extensive research networks throughout the world, with the USA leading the production. Publications on the issue are of high interest in the scientific community as an exponential increase in publications over the last few years was found. The contribution of these findings is to offer a complete picture of the relationship between PA and transcranial brain stimulation in healthy individuals and athletes. Therefore, this comprehensive analysis provides fruitful information for sports researchers and policymakers to make future correct decisions about how to better design and implement training interventions in these groups of individuals.

      Background: The role of the Wnt pathway in bone and its targets in skeletal disease has garnered interest, but the field lacks a systematic analysis of research. This paper presents a bibliometric study of publications related to the Wnt signaling pathway in bone to describe the current state of study and predict future outlooks. Methods: All relevant articles and reviews from 1993 to 2022 were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Bibliometric analysis and visualization were performed using CiteSpace 6.1 R3, VOSviewer 1.6.15, and the Online Analysis Platform of Literature Metrology (http://bibliometric.com/). Results: A total of 7,184 papers were retrieved, authored by 28,443 researchers from 89 countries/regions and published in 261 academic journals. The annual publication numbers peaked in 2021. China and United States are the leading countries, with the University of California and Harvard University as the most active institutions. Wang, Yang is the most prolific author. Bone has the most published research, while Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States is the most cited journal on average. The main keywords include expression, Wnt, osteoporosis, bone, and osteogenic differentiation. Current and developing research hotspots focus on bone mass, sclerostin antibody, multiple myeloma, and cartilage development. Conclusion: This paper provides new insights for researchers to delve into the mechanisms of Wnt and bone related diseases and translate into clinical studies. It reveals the development and future research trends in Wnt and skeletal-related studies.

      Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection therapy holds great promise in improving knee cartilage repair. This bibliometric analysis aimed to explore the research landscape in the application of PRP for knee osteoarthritis (KOA) over the last 15 years. All articles investigating PRP in the application of KOA were retrieved from the web of science core collection. Publications were analyzed using R software, VOS Viewer, CiteSpace, Microsoft Excel, and an online bibliometric platform (https://bibliometric.com/). A total of 815 articles were identified, 6 articles from 2010 had the highest average number of citations in the local database. Filardo G., Kon E., Cole B.J., Marcacci M., and Di Martino A. are the top 5 authors based on the H-index. The "American Journal Of Sports Medicine" is the most authoritative journal in the field of PRP application in KOA. The United States is the global leader in this field, with European countries playing a pivotal role in collaborative exchanges. Taipei Medical University is the most prolific institution and Shahid Beheshti University Medical Sciences in Iran the fastest-rising institution. The keywords "Hyaluronic Acid," "cartilage," "growth factors," "mesenchymal stem cells," "intra-articular injection," "pain," "inflammation," "double-blind," "management," "placebo," "stromal cells," "rheumatoid arthritis," and "pathology" appeared most frequently. "Exercise," "volume," and "physical-activity" are the latest hot topics.       OBJECTIVES: In Turkey, conducting research for a dissertation is necessary to obtain a specialist degree, but publication of this research is not mandatory. Previous studies have shown a low rate of publication for dissertation-derived research. The aim of this study was to determine publication rates, factors affecting the transformation of the dissertations into high-quality publications, and bibliometric analysis of published articles in the field of emergency medicine (EM).METHODS: This was a retrospective bibliometric study of EM dissertations submitted between 1998 and 2021 to the National Thesis Center. Research characteristics, publication status, journal characteristics, indexing, citation analysis, and institution characteristics were recorded. Journals indexed in the web of science (WOS) were defined as high-quality journals. A logistic regression was performed to identify factors affecting publication in high-quality journals.
    RESULTS: A total of 2434 dissertations were included. Of these, 864 (35.5%) were published and 474 (54%) were published in WOS-indexed journals. The most common area of research was trauma (n = 150, 17%), and the most common journal was the American Journal of EM (n = 74, 8%). Prospective data collection (odds ratio [OR] = 2.5, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.8-2.5), experimental design (OR = 2, 95%, CI = 1.3-3), university-type residency program (OR = 1.4, 95% CI = 1.02-2.1), and duration between year of graduation and publication (OR = 0.9, 95% CI = 0.84-0.95) were associated with publishing in WOS-indexed journals.
    CONCLUSION: EM is a relatively successful specialty for publishing dissertation-derived studies. Prospective and experimental research design, graduation from a university-type residency program, and shorter duration between the graduation and publication may increase the chance of publishing in high-quality journals.

      Background: Acupuncture therapy has been widely used in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain (MP) in many countries around the world. However, there are no bibliometric studies on acupuncture therapy for MP. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the current status, frontiers and hot spots in the use of acupuncture therapy for the treatment of MP.Methods: Literature on acupuncture therapy for MP was extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection database from 2003 to 2022. CiteSpace 6.2.R4 (64-bit) software was used to analyze the number and centrality of journals, countries, institutions, authors, references and keywords, and the functions of co-occurrence and clustering were applied to draw a visual knowledge map.
    Results: Over the past 20 years, the annual journal publications have been on a steady upward trend, with 438 articles published in 143 journals, including Acupuncture in Medicine Journal published the most (28, 6.39%), JAMA-Journal of the American Medical Association was the journal with the highest impact factor (IF = 120.7003), USA dominated with the most publications (140, 31.96%) among 44 countries, and among 196 research organizations Kyung Hee University was the most prolific (19, 4.34%) and Ha, In-Hyuk was the most published author (9, 2.05%). "Acupuncture" is the most popular and highly sought after keywords. "Low back pain" is the keyword with the highest centrality.
    Conclusion: This article provides the current situation of the use of acupuncture therapy in the treatment of MP in the past 20 years, and statistical analysis reveals that "low back pain", "knit osteoporosis" and "break cancer" are new research diseases related to acupuncture therapy for MP, and "myobasic trigger point" is a new research direction of acupuncture therapy for MP. Therefore, this study helps researchers grasp the research hotspots and provide certain references for in-depth research and future topic selection.

      Background: Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is characterized by the involuntary leakage of urine during activities that increase abdominal pressure. In recent years, a considerable number of studies on SUI surgery have been published. However, there has been a lack of systematic quantification and comprehensive summarization of these studies. Bibliometrics is a discipline that utilizes measurement methods to quantify scientific literature. Thus, this study utilized publications from the Web of Science (WOS) as a data source and conducted a comprehensive analysis and visualization of studies related to SUI surgery in recent years using bibliometric techniques.Methods: We conducted a search and retrieved information on 988 studies related to SUI surgery in the WOS Core Collection. The data covered ten years from September 7, 2013, to September 7, 2023. We employed VOSviewer software, CiteSpace software, and Bibliometrix for analysis and visualization.
    Results: Over the ten years, the number of publications exhibited a fluctuating trend, initially decreasing and then increasing. The United States emerged as the leading contributor in terms of both publication volume and quality. The University of Alabama Birmingham ranked as the institution with the highest number of publications, while the International Urogynecology Journal featured the most publications among journals.
    Conclusions: This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of publications related to SUI surgery from 2013 to 2023. The aim is to offer researchers a concise overview of the field and inspire future research directions.

      Background: In recent years, the role of ferroptosis in Parkinson's disease (PD) has become a research hotspot based on evidence of abnormal iron deposition and lipid peroxidation damage in the brains of PD patients. This study aims to examine the relevant research on ferroptosis and PD from a bibliometric perspective.Methods: Original research and review articles related to ferroptosis and PD were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database. Statistical analysis and visualization of information including countries, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords of the included studies were conducted using the R software package "bibliometrix."
    Results: A total of 414 articles met the inclusion criteria, averaging 37.86 citations per article. From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of research in this area was 63.44%. The corresponding authors of published articles were mainly affiliated with institutions in China, the United States, and Australia. Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China and the University of Melbourne in Australia emerged as the most active and influential institutions. The journal with the highest H-index and publication output was Free Radical Biology and Medicine. "Ferroptosis," "immunotherapy," "prognosis" and "microenvironment" were identified as high-frequency keywords, indicating current and future research directions in this field.
    Conclusion: This bibliometric study provides insights into current research hotspots and emerging trends in the growing field of ferroptosis research related to PD. The high-frequency keywords identified highlight active areas of investigation involving methods, mechanisms, and populations of interest.

      OBJECTIVE: The high incidence of keratoconus has caused its management, etiology, and pathogenesis to be controversial topics in the ophthalmology field. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the different publications and authors through citation networks, as well as to identify the research areas and determine the most cited article.METHODS: The search for publications was carried out through the Web of Science database, using the term "Keratoconus" between 1900 and December 2022. The Citation Network Explorer and CiteSpace software were used for the publication analysis.
    RESULTS: 9,655 publications were found, with 124,379 citations generated on the network. The year with the highest number of publications was 2021. The most cited publication was "Keratoconus" by Rabinowitz, published in 1998. Cluster function gave five groups of research areas about keratoconus: corneal signs and parameters, cross-linking efficiency and effects, clinical factors, keratoplasty, and treatment.
    CONCLUSIONS: The citation network offers an objective and comprehensive analysis of the papers on keratoconus.

      The pollution caused by modernization and industrialization has caused serious harm to the biodiversity of the earth. TiO2-based photocatalyst has been widely studied as an effective and sustainable water environment remediation material. In this study, we analyzed the status and research trends of TiO2-based photocatalytic degradation of wastewater in depression from 2003 to 2023 to provide a reference for further research. "Doping", "Modification" and "Heterojunction" were used as keywords, and 817 related academic literatures were screened out by using Web of Science database. Through the visualization software VOSviewer and CiteSpace, the authors, institutions and literature keywords were clustered. The results show that since 2008, the annual number of published papers on TiO2-based photocatalytic degradation of wastewater has increased from 9 to 114. Among them, China has published 432 articles and made great contributions, and there are many representative research teams. Chinese universities are the main body to study TiO2-based photocatalytic degradation of wastewater, but the cooperation between universities is not as close as that abroad. This paper comprehensively analyzes the research hotspots of TiO2-based photocatalytic degradation of wastewater, such as the doping of TiO2 and the construction of different types of heterojunctions of TiO2. It is expected that these analysis results will provide new research ideas for researchers to carry out future research on related topics and let researchers know in-depth research institutions and possible collaborators to conduct academic exchanges and discussions with active institutions.

      BACKGROUND: The presence of residual cardiovascular risk is an important cause of cardiovascular events. Despite the significant advances in our understanding of residual cardiovascular risk, a comprehensive analysis through bibliometrics has not been performed to date. Our objective is to conduct bibliometric studies to analyze and visualize the current research hotspots and trends related to residual cardiovascular risk. This will aid in understanding the future directions of both basic and clinical research in this area.METHODS: The literature was obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The literature search date was September 28, 2022. Bibliometric indicators were analyzed using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, Bibliometrix (an R package), and Microsoft Excel.
    RESULT: A total of 1167 papers were included, and the number of publications is increasing rapidly in recent years. The United States and Harvard Medical School are the leading country and institution, respectively, in the study of residual cardiovascular risk. Ridker PM and Boden WE are outstanding investigators in this field. According to our research results, the New England Journal of Medicine is the most influential journal in the field of residual cardiovascular risk, whereas Atherosclerosis boasts the highest number of publications on this topic. Analysis of keywords and landmark literature identified current research hotspots including complications of residual cardiovascular risk, risk factors, and pharmacological prevention strategies.
    CONCLUSION: In recent times, global attention toward residual cardiovascular risk has significantly increased. Current research is focused on comprehensive lipid-lowering, residual inflammation risk, and dual-pathway inhibition strategies. Future efforts should emphasize strengthening international communication and cooperation to promote the comprehensive evaluation and management of residual cardiovascular risk.

      Background: Sport Medicine maintains an active lifestyle and reduces or inhibits countless age-related changes in physical and physiological function by substituting sports methods for people. Improving the scientific situation in sports medicine over time will lead to progress in the field of prevention and reduction of mortality. This study aimed to analyze sports medicine research in the world in terms of scientometric indicators using the Scopus database.Methods: This is a bibilometric study. The study population consisted of all articles indexed in the Scopus citation database in the field of sports medicine, registered by researchers from 2011 to 2020. They used SciVal analytical tool as a bibliometric tool that allows the analysis of publications in various parameters, and VOSviewer and Excel software as drawing all citation maps.
    Results: The highest increase in scientific production of sports medicine was in 2015. Overall, 1,695 articles were published, which received an average of 13 citations per article. The highest rate of scientific production is related to the United States with 41%, followed by the United Kingdom with 16% and Australia with 9%, with a significant difference in the second and third which indicates the high quality and impact of this group of studies. The British Journal of Sports Medicine has contributed the most to the publication of highly cited articles. The most commonly used terms include "Head Impact", "Athletes", and "Sport Injury".
    Conclusion: Considering the importance of sports medicine in the prevention, control and treatment of many diseases, as well as the growth of the elderly population, it is necessary to develop research in this area. By identifying the features of highly cited articles in this field, a clear view of the top authors and publications and widely used topics was provided.

      INTRODUCTION: The scholarly productivity of a faculty member can be measured through several indicators including annual appraisals, feedback, and the number of publications per year. The present study aims to assess the association of quantitative research measures and academic ranks in Australian and New Zealand dental schools.METHODS: It was an analytical observational cross-sectional study. Full-time faculty members working in Australia and New Zealand's dental schools were discovered on official websites. Various bibliometric parameters including h-index, total number of citations, total number of publications, and maximum number of sources of a single publication were analyzed. Spearman rank correlation was used to determine the correlation between bibliometric variables and academic ranks (lecturer, assistant professor, professor). The Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare bibliometric parameters among departments (Basic and Clinical) and gender (male and female).
    RESULTS: Through the present search strategy, 207 full-time faculty members were identified, of which 12 were from New Zealand, and 195 were from Australia. Among them, 130 (62.8%) were male and 70 (33.8%) were female faculty members. There was a positive correlation of all bibliometric parameters with academic ranks (p = 0.001). There was no statistical difference between the two countries for academic parameters (p > 0.05). Male faculty members showed significantly higher academic productivity than female members in Australian dental schools (p = 0.001).
    CONCLUSION: These bibliometric parameters and other educational parameters can be considered for determining faculty promotions. These bibliometric parameters appear to be suitable metrics for assessing research productivity, impact, and visibility.

      Background: Since abnormal aerobic glycolysis was first identified in cancer cells, many studies have focused on its mechanisms. The purpose of this study was to analyze the global research status of the Warburg effect in cancer using bibliometrics.Methods: Articles published from 01 January 2013 to 31 December 2022 (n=2,067) were retrieved from the Web of Science core collection database and analyzed using VOSviewer and CiteSpace software.
    Results: Over the past decade, there was an overall increase in the number of annual publications. China was the most productive country with 790 articles, while the United States received the most citations, with 25,657 citations in total. Oncotarget was the most productive and most cited journal, with 99 articles and 4,191 citations, respectively. International cooperation was common, with the USA cooperating most with other countries. Lactate metabolism, citrate production, and non-coding RNAs related to the Warburg effect have received increasing attention in cancer research. These areas may become future research trends.
    Conclusion: The study findings help summarize the research status and hotspots of the Warburg effect cancer, and will inform subsequent research.

      Background: Sleep is an important biological process and has been linked to many diseases; however, very little is known about which and how genes control and regulate sleep. Although technology has seen significant development, this issue has still not been adequately resolved. Therefore, we conducted a bibliometric analysis to assess the progress in research on sleep quality and associated genes over the past 2 decades. Through our statistical data and discussions, we aimed to provide researchers with better research directions and ideas, thus promoting the advancement of this field.Methods: On December 29, 2022, we utilized bibliometric techniques, such as co-cited and cluster analysis and keyword co-occurrence, using tools such as CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and the Online Analysis Platform of Literature Metrology (http://bibliometric.com/), to conduct a thorough examination of the relevant publications extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Our analysis aimed to identify the emerging trends and hot spots in this field while also predicting their potential development in future.
    Results: Cluster analysis of the co-cited literature revealed the most popular terms relating to sleep quality and associated genes in the manner of cluster labels; these included genome-wide association studies (GWAS), circadian rhythms, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), DNA methylation, and depression. Keyword burst detection suggested that obstructive sleep apnea, circadian clock, circadian genes, and polygenic risk score were newly emergent research hot spots.
    Conclusion: Based on this bibliometric analysis of the publications in the last 20 years, a comprehensive analysis of the literature clarified the contributions, changes in research hot spots, and evolution of research techniques regarding sleep quality and associated genes. This research can provide medical staff and researchers with revelations into future directions of the study on the pathological mechanisms of sleep-related diseases.

      Cardiomyocyte apoptosis is an important factor in cardiac function decline observed in various cardiovascular diseases. To understand the progress in the field of cardiomyocyte apoptosis research, this paper uses bibliometrics to statistically analyze publications in this field. A total of 5939 articles were retrieved from the core Web of Science database, and then VOSviewer and Citespace were used to conduct a scientometric analysis of the authors, countries, institutions, references and keywords included in the articles to determine the cooperative relationships between researchers that study cardiomyocyte apoptosis. At present, the research hotspots in this field mainly include experimental research, molecular mechanisms, pathophysiology and cardiac regeneration of cardiomyocyte apoptosis-related diseases. NOD-like receptor thermal protein domain associated protein 3 inflammasome, circular RNA, and sepsis are the research frontiers in this field and are emerging as new areas of research focus. This work provides insight into research directions and the clinical application value for the continued advancement of cardiomyocyte apoptosis research.

      The primary factor affecting tumor biology is neo-lymphangiogenesis in solid epithelial malignancies like oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Determining the impact of lymphovascular invasion is critical in order to determine OSCC's locoregional and global dissemination. Bibliometric landscapes are vital to learning about the most recent advancements in the aforementioned topic because the ongoing research in OSCC is multifaceted. This analysis can reveal the progressions that might modernize OSCC diagnosis and treatment. The present analysis has been therefore undertaken to study the relevance and effects of lymphovascular invasion in OSCC utilizing co-occurrence of keywords analysis and co-authorship analysis in the PubMed database. The keywords included "lymphovascular invasion in oral squamous cell carcinoma" using the Boolean operator (AND). A cross-sectional bibliometric analysis of full-text articles from 1994 to 2023 using VOSviewer (Version 1.6.19; Centre for Science and Technology Studies, Leiden University, The Netherlands) was performed. The data obtained was analyzed for co-occurrence and co-authorship analysis using the VOSviewer standard protocol. The query revealed 296 searches in the PubMed database. Seven clusters were found with default colors in the representation of the entire term co-occurrence network, which also displayed a total link strength of 22,262. The items were categorized into clusters based on their commonalities. The labels' weights, as determined by links and occurrences, did not depend on one another, and the co-occurrence of keywords does not imply a causal association. In the item density visualization, item labels represented individual things. The number of items from a cluster that was close to the point was represented by the weight given to its color, which was formed by combining the colors of other clusters. A network of 57 authors who matched the search parameters was discovered by the co-authorship analysis. The network visualization map displayed three clusters with a total link strength of 184. The quantity of co-authorship relationships and the number of publications did not appear to be significantly correlated. In conclusion, this investigation uncovered a sizable body of bibliometric data that emphasizes key trends and advancements in the aforementioned theme. The observed variances may be a result of the various objectives of the researchers and journals, who collaborate to provide the best possible literature dissemination.

      Objectives: The Level of Evidence (LOE) ranking system is used to measure the methodological quality of research. This study aimed to analyze and evaluate the trends of LOEs in articles published in the Saudi Dental Journal (SDJ) between 2012 and 2021.Methodology: The bibliometric details of all articles published from 2012 to 2021 were extracted from the SDJ website. All articles, expect editorials, were included in the analysis. The articles were divided based on LOEs, dental specialties, number of authors, and centers. The citation metrics were obtained from Google Scholar, and the statistical analysis was performed using JMP Pro 15.2.0 software.
    Results: Five hundred twenty-two articles were selected for analysis. They had an average of 21.19 citations per article, and a growing trend in the number of articles was observed. Authors from 40 countries contributed to the articles, with the most contributions from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Most articles (n = 269; 51.53%) were LOE IV and V, while a low proportion (5.56%) were LOE I articles. Aside from miscellaneous articles, periodontics composed most of the LOE I studies, followed by endodontics, and oral and maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS). Orthodontics had the highest number of LOE II studies, pediatric dentistry had the most LOE IV, and prosthodontics had the most LOE V studies. No significant correlations were found between LOE and the number of authors or centers. However, a significant correlation was found in the distribution of LOE contributed by academic institutes.
    Conclusion: The study results highlight that most articles were LOE IV and V, whereas nominal LOE I articles were found. Furthermore, there is a need to encourage dental scientists to carry out high-quality evidence studies. Professional dental societies can play a pivotal role in this regard.

      Purpose: Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) is a classic surgical procedure for posterior lumbar fusion. This study aims to analyze the TLIF field by bibliometric method and comprehensively summarize the research status and trends.Methods: All TLIF-related articles were retrieved from the Web of Science. The data were analyzed using R software and SPSS to calculate corresponding indicators. Visualizations were drawn using VOSviewer and Scimago Graphica, including country, institution, journal, author, and keywords.
    Results: A total of 919 articles were included. The annual publication volume of TLIF-related articles presented an exponential growth. North America, Europe, and Asia were the main sources of articles, with the USA and China being the main contributors and the USA being the global research center for TLIF. The level of the national economy was an important factor affecting TLIF-related research. The highest number of contributions in this field was made by Kern Singh among authors and by Rush University among institutions. The European Spine Journal was the most influential journal. The research focus has gradually shifted from perfecting the TLIF technique toward emphasizing the patient level. The improvement of minimally invasive techniques and how to improve clinical outcomes as well as accelerate postoperative rehabilitation of patients may be the hot spot of future research.
    Conclusions: With the advancement of medical technology and the popularization of minimally invasive concepts in recent years, TLIF and its derivative technologies have attracted increasing attention. Patient-centered minimally invasive surgery is a hot research topic in the field of TLIF currently and will continue to be so into the future.

      Background: Research in the form of poster and podium abstracts is disseminated at subspecialty society meetings. The quality of this research can be defined by exploring the ultimate publication rate of the presented abstracts.Purpose: To investigate (1) the manuscript publication rate of abstracts presented at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) annual meeting; (2) whether abstract format (poster vs podium) influences overall or 2-year publication rates and time to publication; (3) the abstract factors that are associated with increased publication rate; and (4) whether publication quality as measured by journal of publication, level of evidence (LOE), and number of citations differs between posters and podiums.
    Study Design: Cross-sectional study.
    Methods: Poster and podium abstracts that were presented at the AOSSM annual meetings between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2019, were included. The PubMed and GoogleScholar databases were searched by abstract title and authors to determine whether the related manuscript had been published. For published manuscripts, the journal, journal impact factor (IF), time to publication, authors, and LOE were recorded.
    Results: The manuscripts of 664 abstracts (341 poster, 323 podium presentations) were published during the study period. The overall publication rate was 52.4%. Publication within 2 years of the meeting was found to be higher in podium abstracts (45.8%) compared with poster abstracts (37.8%) (P = .0366). Podium abstracts had a shorter time to publication (P < .001), higher LOE (P = .0166), more citations (P < .0001), and were published in higher IF journals (P = .0028). Poster presentations were more likely to undergo a change in first author between the time of the conference and future publication (P = .0300). The most common journal of publication was the American Journal of Sports Medicine (36.8%).
    Conclusion: Abstracts presented at the AOSSM annual meeting had a high rate of publication within 2 years. There was no difference in publication rates between podium and poster abstracts, but podium abstracts had a shorter time to publication and more future citations and were published in journals with higher IFs.

      BACKGROUND The direct and indirect roles of the cell cycle in immunology of the tumor microenvironment (TME) are topics of intense scientific interest. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the knowledge domain and hotspots related to the cell cycle for cancer immunology applications. MATERIAL AND METHODS The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) was used as a powerful tool for identifying articles related to cell cycle for cancer immunology applications. Co-occurrence relationships were examined with R, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace software. Related research hotspots and possible future trends were also examined. RESULTS A total of 1844 qualified English-language documents were obtained in WoSCC between 1999 and 2022, with a 7.66% annual growth rate. These eligible studies were co-authored by 2246 institutions in 51 countries/regions, with the greatest article number being published in the United States (36%, 664/1844), followed by China (19%, 351/1844) and Germany (4.5%, 83/1844). The top 3 institutions with the most publications and the top 3 academic journals (n=390 in total) on this topic that published the most articles were identified. Key nodes from the co-cited network were aggregated and identified to reveal the shift in cell cycle for cancer immunology applications. Notably, the current research hotspots in this field include "tumor progression", "chemotherapy", "resistance", "clinical trial", and "target population". CONCLUSIONS This study revealed field profiles, research hotspots, and future directions of cell cycle dysregulation-related immunology, and the findings will offer a vigorous roadmap for further studies in the combination therapy of cell cycle inhibitors and immune checkpoint inhibitors for treating various cancers. Our results can shed more light on relevant research in this field.

      Purpose: This study aims to analyze global and regional (China, Japan, and South Korea) research on virtual reality (VR) in the field of pain medicine over the past 30 years. Specifically, we quantify VR-related publications, examine the distribution of research topics on chronic and acute pain, and identify trends and future directions.Methods: The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database was used for bibliometric analysis. This study included articles written in English between 1993 and 2022. The search strategy used predefined terms related to VR and pain. Based on the articles' titles and abstracts, two pain physicians independently reviewed and classified them as acute or chronic pain. Quantitative data on countries, institutions, journals, and research categories were analyzed. VOSviewer software was used for keyword mapping and clustering.
    Results: We analyzed 808 VR-related articles on pain medicine. Over the past three decades, the number of publications in this field has increased steadily. The United States of America (n = 259) had the highest number of publications. Moreover, China (n = 42), Japan (n = 18), and South Korea (n = 24) also contributed continuously. Acute and chronic pain research accounted for 44.2% and 37.9% of the articles, respectively. The most common acute pain topic was procedure-related (n = 129, 16.0%), whereas the most common chronic pain topic was neuropathic (n = 104, 12.9%). Keywords clustered around neuroscience, pediatric pain management, and chronic pain management.
    Conclusion: Our study revealed academic achievements and growing interest in VR-related research in pain medicine. Researchers worldwide have shown balanced interest in applying VR technology to acute and chronic pain, with specific contributions from China, Japan, and South Korea. Harnessing VR technology is promising for improving pain management and enhancing patients' quality of life in the field of pain medicine.

      BACKGROUND: The increasing popularity of cosmetic injections using various fillers and neuromodulators for facial rejuvenation has brought both new opportunities and challenges to this field.AIM: Our study was designed to employ bibliometric and visual analysis for a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of facial cosmetic injections, as well as to identify research trends and hotspots in this field.
    METHODS: All publications covering facial cosmetic injection during 2002-2023 were retrieved and extracted from the Web of Science database. The VOSviewer 1.6.18 software and the online tool (http://bibliometric.com/) were applied to analyze the publication trend.
    RESULTS: A total of 3797 articles related to facial cosmetic injection were identified during the period 2002-2023. The United States had the largest volume of publications (1520, 40.0%), followed by China (333, 8.8%) and Germany (282, 7.3%). Among the institutions and journals, the University of California system and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery accounted for the most papers related to facial cosmetic injection, respectively. Facial anatomy and injection techniques, prevention and management of complications, regenerative medicine, efficacy and safety of various soft-tissue fillers, as well as botulinum toxin injections for facial rejuvenation were identified as hotspots for facial cosmetic injections.
    CONCLUSIONS: Facial cosmetic injections are showing an increasing trend in terms of both the number of published papers and operations performed. Despite the notable advancements in this field, numerous challenges persist, including safety concerns and the level of research evidence. With the emergence of novel technologies and materials, scholars from diverse countries and institutions should engage in more extensive collaboration, thereby directly expediting the progress of this field.

      Objective: During the period of COVID-19, government regulation (GR) played an important role in healthcare. This study examines the current research situation of GR in healthcare, discusses the research hotspots, the most productive authors and countries, and the most common journals, and analyzes the changes in GR in healthcare before and after the outbreak of COVID-19.Methods: This study followed PRISMA guidelines to collect literature on GR in healthcare. And the VOSviewer software was used to perform a quantitative analysis of these documents to obtain a visual map, including year, country, institution, journal, author, and research topic.
    Results: A total of 1,830 papers that involved 976 academic journals, 3,178 institutions, and 133 countries were identified from 1985 to 2023. The United States was the country with the highest production (n = 613), followed by the United Kingdom (n = 289). The institution with the largest number of publications was the University of London in the UK (n = 103); In the author collaboration network, the biggest cluster is Bomhoff M, Bouwman R, Friele R, et al. The top five journals in terms of the number of articles were BMC Health Services Research (n = 70), Plos One (n = 35), Health Policy (n = 33), Social Science & Medicine (n = 29), Health Policy and Planning (n = 29), and Frontiers in Public Health (n = 27). The existing literature mainly focused on "health policy," "public health," "China," "mental health," "India," "qualitative research," "legislation," and "governance," et al. Since 2020, research on "COVID-19" has also become a priority in the domain of healthcare.
    Conclusion: This study reveals the overall performance of the literature on GR published in healthcare. Healthcare needs GR, especially in response to the COVID-19 epidemic, which has played an irreplaceable role. The outbreak of COVID-19 not only tested the health systems of various countries, but also changed GR in healthcare. With the end of COVID-19, whether these changes will end remains to be further studied.

      BACKGROUND: Gastroparesis has a substantial impact on the quality of life but has limited treatment options, which makes it a public health concern. No bibliometric studies on gastroparesis have been published thus far. Thus, this article aims to summarize and analyze research hotspots to provide a reference for clinical researchers.MATERIALS AND METHODS: Gastroparesis-related research articles were searched in the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC), and relevant information was extracted after screening. A total of 1033 documents were analyzed with the bibliometric method using Microsoft Excel, Citespace, and VOSviewer.
    RESULTS: Overall, our search retrieved 1033 papers contributed by 966 research institutions from 53 countries. Since 1980, publications in this field have increased rapidly. United States (n = 645) and Temple University (n = 122) were the most productive country and institution, respectively. Parkman, with 96 publications, was the most prominent author.
    CONCLUSIONS: Research hotspots in gastroparesis can be summarized into four domains: innovation in diagnostic modalities, change of oral therapeutic agents, choice of surgical interventions, and pathological mechanisms. Future research on gastroparesis should focus on the quality of life of patients, diagnostic techniques, pyloromyotomy, and transpyloric stent placement.

      The present study presents a retrospect into environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis (EKC). The EKC debate is dated over four decade long and worthy of empirical scrutiny. To this end, the present study leverages on over 200 previous studies curated from SCOPUS and Web of science (WOS) core collection database respectively. The present study also presented both literature schematic on the evolution, trends, gaps, and future directions on the EKC debate. This paper endeavors to enhance our comprehension of the inherent paradoxes present in sustainability discourses by delving into the fundamental assumptions underlying the Environmental Kuznets curve (EKC). By conducting a bibliometric analysis, we aim to shed light on the factors contributing to the prominence of thematic keywords within sustainability discourses. This study seeks to provide valuable insights into these dynamics and implications on sustainability debates. Key empirical findings outlines predominant and influential studies and journal outlets on the theme under consideration. The present study bibliometric analysis displays that Ozturk i. with 13 published papers 3153 citations and a link strength of 2, Dogan e. Had 7 papers with 2190 citations with no link strength, Shahbaz. B 7 papers 1347 citations and 1 link strength, Saboori b.7 papers 677 citations 1 strength link and Liu y. 6 papers 582 citations with no link strength. From a policy dimension, the present bibliometric study presents valuable depth on the evolution and development of the EKC phenomenon by identifying's the extant literature leaders, action-step for future studies on environmental sustainability without compromise on economic growth as the EKC theme express the tradeoff between economic growth and environmental degradation.       This paper presents the landscape of research on airborne microplastics and nanoplastics (MPs/NPs) according to the bibliometric analysis of 147 documents issued between 2015 and 2021, extracted from the Web of Science database. The publications on airborne MPs/NPs have increased rapidly from 2015 onwards, which is largely due to the existence of funding support. Science of the Total Environment is one of the prominent journals in publishing related papers. China, England, the USA, and European Countries have produced a significant output of airborne MP/NP research works, which is associated with the availability of funding agencies regionally or nationally. The research hotspot on the topic ranges from the transport of airborne MPs/NPs to their deposition in the terrestrial or aquatic environments, along with the contamination of samples by indoor MPs/NPs. Most of the publications are either research or review papers related to MPs/NPs. It is crucial to share the understanding of global plastic pollution and its unfavorable effects on humankind by promoting awareness of the existence and impact of MPs/NPs. Funding agencies are vital in boosting the research development of airborne MPs/NPs. Some countries that are lacking funding support were able to publish research findings related to the field of interest, however, with lesser research output. Without sufficient fundings, some impactful publications may not be able to carry a substantial impact in sharing the findings and discoveries with the mass public.

      Background: Extensive research collaborations exist between researchers from high-income countries (HICs) and those from low-income countries (LICs) and lower-middle-income countries (LMICs). Previous research has suggested that authors from LICs and LMICs are underrepresented as first and last authors in the orthopaedic literature on local populations, particularly in LICs. We present a bibliometric analysis of authorship solely in studies published in orthopaedic journals that are based in LICs and LMICs.Methods: The Global Index Medicus was queried, and all articles published from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2021, in journals with a focus on orthopaedic surgery that were based in an LIC or an LMIC were included. Logistic regressions were calculated to assess the predictors of local authorship.
    Results: Over 92% of studies included in our analysis had first or last authors from LICs or LMICs. In terms of study type, the majority (89%) of studies were clinical, although largely of low-level evidence (78% of clinical studies were case reports, case series, or descriptive studies). None received funding. LIC or LMIC first authorship and last authorship were less likely for most types of nonclinical studies. LIC or LMIC first authorship was more likely when there were more study authors. LIC or LMIC first authorship and last authorship were less likely when there were more countries affiliated with the study authors. Finally, when compared with studies with only LIC or LMIC authors, those with a combination of HIC and LIC or LMIC authors had significantly lower rates of LIC or LMIC first authorship (93.3% versus 62.5%) and last authorship (97.7% versus 70.8%).
    Conclusions: Our study presents one of the first analyses to assess authorship patterns in the orthopaedic literature of locally published journals in LICs and LMICs. Future studies are needed to contextualize our findings within a broader bibliometric landscape in order to better address the ongoing challenges to building research capacity in LICs and LMICs.
    Clinical Relevance: Our study highlights important observations regarding authorship in international, collaborative research in orthopaedics.

      BACKGROUND: Retraction is a correction process for the scientific literature that acts as a barrier to the dissemination of articles that have serious faults or misleading data. The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of retracted papers from Kazakhstan.METHODS: Utilizing data from Retraction Watch, this cross-sectional descriptive analysis documented all retracted papers from Kazakhstan without regard to publication dates. The following data were recorded: publication title, DOI number, number of authors, publication date, retraction date, source, publication type, subject category of publication, collaborating country, and retraction reason. Source index status, Scopus citation value, and Altmetric Attention Score were obtained.
    RESULTS: Following the search, a total of 92 retracted papers were discovered. One duplicate article was excluded, leaving 91 publications for analysis. Most articles were retracted in 2022 (n = 22) and 2018 (n = 19). Among the identified publications, 49 (53.9%) were research articles, 39 (42.9%) were conference papers, 2 (2.2%) were review articles, and 1 (1.1%) was a book chapter. Russia (n = 24) and China (n = 5) were the most collaborative countries in the retracted publications. Fake-biased peer review (n = 38), plagiarism (n = 25), and duplication (n = 14) were the leading causes of retraction.
    CONCLUSION: The vast majority of the publications were research articles and conference papers. Russia was the leading collaborative country. The most prominent retraction reasons were fake-biased peer review, plagiarism, and duplication. Efforts to raise researchers' understanding of the grounds for retraction and ethical research techniques are required in Kazakhstan.

      Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome is a congenital cardiac preexcitation syndrome that arises from abnormal cardiac electrical conduction through an accessory pathway and results in symptomatic and life-threatening arrhythmias. The aim of this study is to analyze the patterns of gender representation among first-author publications concerning "Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome" within the PubMed-indexed publications from "January 1, 1973, to December 31, 2022," based on country and year. On May 9, 2023, bibliometric analysis was performed. The phrase "(Wolf-Parkinson-White Syndrome)" was looked up in PubMed. It covered articles released between January 1, 1973, and December 31, 2022. Articles accepted in the year 2022 and published in Pubmed in 2023 were included in the study. A total of 138 articles were considered and included in our analysis. Among these articles, 29 (21.01%) were authored by females, while 109 (78.99%) were authored by males. To conclude, this research study reveals a rising trend of females in lead authorship roles within the field of cardiac arrhythmia research. However, it remains evident that there is a significant gender gap, with male researchers still outnumbering their female counterparts.

      Background: Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT), a common form of thyroid autoimmunity, is strongly associated with deteriorating clinical status and impaired quality of life. The escalating global prevalence, coupled with the complexity of disease mechanisms, necessitates a comprehensive, bibliometric analysis to elucidate the trajectory, hotspots, and future trends in HT research.Objective: This study aims to illuminate the development, hotspots, and future directions in HT research through systematic analysis of publications, institutions, authors, journals, references, and keywords. Particular emphasis is placed on novel treatment strategies for HT and its complications, highlighting the potential role of genetic profiling and immunomodulatory therapies.
    Methods: We retrieved 8,726 relevant documents from the Web of Science Core Collection database spanning from 1 January 1990 to 7 March 2023. Following the selection of document type, 7,624 articles were included for bibliometric analysis using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and R software.
    Results: The temporal evolution of HT research is categorized into three distinct phases: exploration (1990-1999), rapid development (1999-2000), and steady growth (2000-present). Notably, the United States, China, Italy, and Japan collectively contributed over half (54.77%) of global publications. Among the top 10 research institutions, four were from Italy (4/10), followed by China (2/10) and the United States (2/10). Recent hotspots, such as the roles of gut microbiota, genetic profiling, and nutritional factors in HT management, the diagnostic dilemmas between HT and Grave's disease, as well as the challenges in managing HT complicated by papillary thyroid carcinoma and type 1 diabetes mellitus, are discussed.
    Conclusion: Although North America and Europe have a considerable academic impact, institutions from emerging countries like China are demonstrating promising potential in HT research. Future studies are anticipated to delve deeper into the differential diagnosis of HT and Grave's disease, the intricate relationship between gut microbiota and HT pathogenesis, clinical management of HT with papillary thyroid carcinoma or type 1 diabetes, and the beneficial effects of dietary modifications and micronutrients supplementation in HT. Furthermore, the advent of genetic profiling and advanced immunotherapies for managing HT offers promising avenues for future research.

      Background: It is well known that cancers have a common feature that even if the environment is extremely poor in nutrients, they can still make good use of them to maintain viability as well as to produce new biomass, which is one of the reasons why tumor cells are powerfully less susceptible to senescence and death. The microenvironment has a profound impact on the senescence as well as the growth and development of tumor cells, and it is also the focus of scientists' research because it may even affect the discovery of the treatment and pathogenesis of cancer. And so the study of the microenvironment in the tumor cells is of great significance to the analysis of the tumor cells as well as to the impact of their senescence. Similarly, the microenvironment of osteosarcoma is also crucial for its impact, but to our knowledge, there is no bibliometric study that systematically analyzes and describes the trends and future hotspots in this field of research as we do, and we are going to fill this gap in this study.Methods: We searched the Web Science Core Collection 2010-2023 in WOS on August 1, 2023. Based on the criteria needed for the search, we retained articles that matched the topic, excluded studies other than articles and reviews, and selected only studies whose language was English. We performed an intuitive visualization and bibliometric approach to analyze the research content in this field and a systematic visualization of global trends and hotspots in the research of osteosarcoma and the microenvironment, for which we used multiple specialized For this purpose, we used several specialized software packages, such as VOSviewer and the Bibliometrix package for R software. Because research in this area of osteosarcoma and the microenvironment has begun to gain popularity in the last 10 years or so, and is a very novel piece of research, there were almost no studies in this area prior to 2010 and they were not very informative, and in the end, we chose to look at studies from after 2010.
    Results: Based on the criteria needed for the search, resulting in a final selection of 821 articles. In the research area related to osteosarcoma and microenvironment, we found that China in Asia and the United States in North America and Italy in Europe were the three countries or regions with the highest number of published articles. In addition, the institution that published the most research in this area was Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In terms of publications in the field of osteosarcoma and microenvironmental research, Baldini, Heymann, and Avnet are among the top 3 authors. The terms "cancer", "cells" and "expression" are found to be more commonly employed.
    Conclusion: Using a variety of highly specialized software, we have undertaken a visual and bibliometric study of the current state of research and potential future hotspots in the field of osteosarcoma and microenvironment research. The microenvironment has a profound impact on the senescence and growth and development of cells in tumors, including osteosarcoma, and may even influence the discovery of cancer treatment and pathogenesis, and is also a hotspot and focus that scientists have begun to gradually study in recent years. This analysis and visualization will help guide future research in the field.

      Schizophrenia is a severe psychotic condition that can be diagnosed when certain symptoms, such as disorganized speech, disorganized thoughts, or negative feelings, are present for at least six months in a person's life. Gender equity and representation in academic writing are significant issues that have received more attention recently. Understanding the gender discrepancies in authorship can help researchers studying schizophrenia overcome obstacles and potential biases. The purpose of this study was to determine the degree of gender discrepancy among initial authors of articles that focused on schizophrenia and to identify potential causes of such inequalities. A bibliometric analysis of articles related to schizophrenia published from 2019 to 2022 was conducted. The authors' genders were determined through available public records and professional affiliations. The analysis included assessing the proportion of male and female first authors and examining trends over time. A total of 982 articles were included in the analysis. The results revealed a significant gender disparity in first authorship, with a higher representation of male first authors (546, 55.6%) compared to female first authors (436, 44.4%). There is a significant increase in the percentage of female authors from 2019 to 2022 (i.e., from 25% to 48.5%). The number of female and male authors is predicted to remain at a constant from 2023 to 2027, with male authors at 175 and female authors at slightly above 150. The findings of this study underscore the need for continued efforts to address gender imbalances in academic publishing and promote gender equity in the field of schizophrenia research. Recognizing and rectifying these disparities can contribute to a more inclusive and diverse scientific community.

      Activity-based protein profiling (ABPP) is a chemoproteomic approach that employs small-molecule probes to directly evaluate protein functionality within complex proteomes. This technology has proven to be a potent strategy for mapping ligandable sites in organisms and has significantly impacted drug discovery processes by enabling the development of highly selective small-molecule inhibitors and the identification of new therapeutic molecular targets. Despite being nearly a quarter of a century old as a chemoproteomic tool, ABPP has yet to undergo a bibliometric analysis. In order to gauge its scholarly impact and evolution, a bibliometric analysis was performed, comparing all 1919 reported articles with the articles published in the last five years. Through a comprehensive data analysis, including a 5-step workflow, the most influential articles were identified, and their bibliometric parameters were determined. The 1919 analyzed articles span from 1999 to 2022, providing a comprehensive overview of the historical and current state of ABPP research. This analysis presents, for the first time, the characteristics of the most influential ABPP articles, offering valuable insight into the research conducted in this field and its potential future directions. The findings underscore the crucial role of ABPP in drug discovery and novel therapeutic target identification, as well as the need for continued advancements in the development of novel chemical probes and proteomic technologies to further expand the utility of ABPP.

      Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common cardiovascular disease that seriously threatens human lives. Anticoagulant therapy is considered to be the cornerstone of VTE treatment. An increasing number of studies has been updated in the VTE anticoagulation field. However, no bibliometric analyses have assessed these publications comprehensively. Therefore, our study aimed to analyze the global status, hotspots, and trends of anticoagulant therapy for VTE.Methods: The relevant literature on VTE anticoagulation published between 2012 and 2021 was retrieved and collected from the Web of Science Core Collection database. VOSviewer, Cooccurrence Matrix Builder, gCLUTO, and some online visualization tools were adopted for bibliometric analysis.
    Results: A total of 15,152 related articles were retrieved. In recent years, the research output of VTE anticoagulation gradually increased. The United States was the most productive country. International cooperation is concentrated in North America and Europe; the most influential documents, journals, authors, and organizations were also from these two continents. Research hotspots mainly focus on clinical guidelines, VTE in special populations, non-vitamin K oral anticoagulants (NOACs), and parenteral anticoagulation. The research frontiers and trends include the assessment of NOACs and the antithrombotic management of VTE complicated with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
    Conclusion: This bibliometric analysis provides a systematic overview of the VTE anticoagulation research, which will facilitate researchers to better understand the situation of VTE anticoagulation. Future studies should be dedicated to NOACs application and VTE-combined COVID-19 patients.

      The life-cycle cost analysis (LCCA) is an important tool that jointly with the environmental and social life-cycle assessment provides relevant insights into studies about sustainability. This is true in the different economic sectors and social dimensions. Nonetheless, the literature shows that there is a field to be explored about this topic through bibliometric analysis. In this framework, this research aims to analyse the different items associated with the bibliographic coupling and citation links. For that, bibliographic data for the topic "life cycle cost* analysis" were considered. From the Web of Science platform, 1642 documents were taken into account in a search carried out on March 14, 2023. The intention is to highlight the top authors, countries, documents, organisations and sources. This study intends also to compare the metrics obtained for the two links and conclude if they are alternatives. In other words, it is important to show if it is indifferent, for this topic, to choose one of these links (bibliographic coupling and citation) to analyse the metrics associated with the respective items. Or if this choice depends on the objectives designed. The main findings highlight the top authors, countries, organisations and sources related to this topic. On the other hand, the results reveal that some metrics are equal for the two links, but only for a part of the observations. In this way, for the total of the observations, despite strong correlations between some metrics, the choice of the link is not indifferent and depends on the aims of the study. This is an important finding, highlighting that the choice of the link for bibliometric analysis is a crucial step to achieve robust conclusions.

Research hotspots, keyword analysis, and the number of papers published on polysiloxane in biomedicine are used in this study to analyze and discuss the current status of polysiloxane research in biomedicine. Over the last twenty years, there has been a significant surge in the number of publications related to the use of polysiloxane in biomedicine. This trend highlights the growing intersection and collaboration between the fields of polymeric material science and biomedical disciplines. Therefore, statistics about the number of papers on polysiloxane and the frequency of hot words are valuable resources for biomedical research and development.

      Liver cancer has become an important public health problem. In this study, bibliometrics and visual analysis were performed on the literature related to the risk factors and prevention of liver cancer, in order to understand the latest research progress of the risk factors and prevention of liver cancer. The Web of Science database was used as a retrieval platform to retrieve the published research results from 2012 to 2023. CiteSpace and VOSviewer were utilized for bibliometrics and visual analysis. A total of 2388 articles were screened according to exclusion criteria. Between 2012 and 2018, the number of articles published fluctuated. From 2018 to 2023, the number of published documents showed a steady upward trend. The 3 journals with the most publications are World Journal of Gastroenterology, PLOS ONE, and Hepatology. The United States and China are the countries with the most publications, while Harvard University, the National Institutes of Health and the University of Texas System are the 3 institutions with the most publications. Keywords such as hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus, alcohol, obesity, recrudescence rate, global burden are hot words in the field of liver cancer risk factors and prevention. The current research mainly focuses on the influence of environmental factors, behavioral lifestyle and biological factors on liver cancer, as well as the primary and secondary prevention of liver cancer, but there are still many undetermined factors to be explored.

      Osteoarthritis (OA) stands as a prevalent degenerative joint ailment, demanding immediate attention towards the development of efficacious therapeutic interventions. Presently, a definitive cure for OA remains elusive, and when conservative treatment modalities prove ineffective, resorting to a joint prosthesis becomes imperative. Temporary distraction emerges as a pivotal joint-preserving intervention in human OA patients, conferring both clinical amelioration and structural enhancements. Although extant clinical investigations exist, they are characterized by relatively modest sample sizes. Nonetheless, these studies furnish compelling evidence affirming that joint distraction engenders sustained clinical amelioration and structural refinement. Despite substantial strides in the last decade, a bibliometric analysis of joint distraction within the realm of osteoarthritis treatment research has been conspicuously absent. In this context, we have undertaken a comparative investigation utilizing bibliometric methodologies to scrutinize the landscape of joint distraction within osteoarthritis treatment. Our comprehensive analysis encompassed 469 scholarly articles. Our findings evince a consistent escalation in global research interest and publication output pertaining to this subject. The United States emerged as the frontrunner in international collaboration, publication count, and citation frequency, underscoring its preeminence in this domain. The journal "Osteoarthritis and Cartilage" emerged as the principal platform for disseminating research output on this subject. Notably, Mastbergen SC emerged as the most prolific contributor in terms of authorship. The identified keywords predominantly revolved around non-surgical interventions and joint arthroscopy procedures. This bibliometric analysis, augmented by visual representations, furnishes invaluable insights into the evolutionary trajectory of joint distraction as an osteoarthritis treatment modality spanning from 2003 to 2023. These insights will serve as a compass for the scientific community, facilitating further exploration in this promising domain.

      Background: Persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) suffer from stark, well-documented health and healthcare disparities, despite data indicating that the majority see a healthcare provider at least annually. Multiple surveys have indicated that over 90% of physicians feel they have inadequate knowledge and skill in caring for those with IDD. This has been recognized as a key barrier to health equity.Objective: To evaluate the content of high-impact clinical literature for a potential cause of clinician knowledge deficits.
    Methods: We performed a bibliometric analysis of publications within major, high-impact general, and specialty clinical journals from 1946 to 2020 to determine the relative frequency of publications regarding IDD and publication rate.
    Results: We observed a significant decline in articles regarding IDD over the past 20 years within high-impact general medical journals, and a significant decline over the past 15 years within high-impact, specialty society-published journals of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neurology. Furthermore, we observed that high-impact general medical journals devoted a significantly smaller proportion of publication space to articles regarding IDD than they did for conditions with similar prevalence such as HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, and drug abuse.
    Conclusion: The declining rate and low frequency of clinical publications regarding IDD within the major, respected clinical literature may be contributing to physicians' ability to source evidence-based information, thereby impacting perceptions of skill and knowledge deficits, and therefore may be contributing to healthcare disparities in this population. Well-designed clinical studies that engage persons with IDD may lead to an evidence base within the clinical literature that will improve physician confidence and care quality.

      BACKGROUND: The aims of this bibliometric analysis were (1) a longitudinal analysis of the publication landscape in the field of pain (1975-2020) and (2) to characterize the overall publication profiles for two selected journals: European Journal of Pain and PAIN® utilizing an automated approach.METHODS: Database searches in Scopus extracted all journals with 'pain' in their title. For the two specific journals, papers were manually/automatically profiled into preclinical, human and translational studies.
    RESULTS: A gross list of 64 journals in the field of pain consisting of both active and ceased journals in Scopus were included in this analysis which identified 62,565 papers with approximately 4000 papers published/year. These papers include 2759 and 9156 papers in Eur. J. Pain and PAIN®, respectively. Currently, there are 24 active 'pain' journals. Authors/paper increase from 2 to 7 indicating a development from mono-disciplinary to multi-disciplinary studies. The overall publication profiles assessing preclinical, human (experimental/clinical) and translational papers in Eur. J. Pain and PAIN® were almost similar (14%, 75% and 10% versus 26%, 63% and 10%). Papers have changed over the years from mono-disciplinary studies (e.g. behavioural studies) to multi-disciplinary studies (e.g. combined behavioural and cell studies). After optimization, the search model matched the manual screening by 100%, 98% and 96% for the preclinical, clinical and healthy volunteer categories.
    CONCLUSIONS: Over the last 45 years, more than 60,000 pain-related papers have been published. Papers develop over the years from mono-disciplinary to multi-disciplinary studies. The overall publication profile including preclinical, human (experimental/clinical) and translational papers was almost similar in Eur. J. Pain and PAIN®.
    SIGNIFICANCE: The bibliometric analysis of a pain journal provides information on which specific areas of research are published, how this may have changed over the years and how a journal is positioned compared with other journals in the field.

      PURPOSE: This study aims to explore the emerging trends, dynamic development, and research hotspots of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) technology associated with extracellular vesicles during the past 7 years and demonstrate them by visualization.METHODS: A total of 219 records related to CRISPR technology associated with extracellular vesicles from 2015 to 2022 in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database were collected. R language, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and GraphpadPrism software packages were used to analyze the history of this research, the general characteristics of the literature, and keywords. Finally, the hotspots and latest trends in CRISPR technology associated with extracellular vesicles are predicted.
    RESULTS: A total of 219 articles were collected for this study. The production of publications about CRISPR technology associated with extracellular vesicles has increased annually. Researchers from China, the USA, and Germany made the most important contributions to this trend, while RLUK Research Libraries UK offers the largest amount of literature in this field. Shenzhen University, Nanjing Medicine University, and Peking University exhibited the closest cooperation. Additionally, active topics burst during different periods, as identified according to 317 keywords belonging to 39 disciplines. Keywords were clustered into seven research subareas, namely exosome, nanovesicles, DNA, gene editing, gene therapy, cancer therapy, and endometrial stromal cells. The alluvial map of keywords reveals that the most enduring concepts are gene therapy, nanovesicles, etc., while the emerging keywords are genome, protein delivery, plasma, etc. CONCLUSIONS: We reviewed 219 previous publications and conducted the first bibliometric study of CRISPR technology related to extracellular vesicles from 2015 to 2022. This comprehensive summary constructed a knowledge map and demonstrates the trends in this area. The current trends and potential hotpots for this topic are also identified, which will be a great help for researchers in the future.

      Mineral fertilizers are a new type of sustainable fertilizers, containing natural ores as the primary raw material with various nutrients and organic matters. This study combines two methods of bibliometric analysis to comprehensively review the progress of mineral fertilizers from 2000 to 2021. The results showed that the research on mineral fertilizers has increased in the past 21 years, especially after 2014. Developed countries studied mineral fertilizers more extensively than developing countries, but some developing countries, such as China and India, are also paying attention to this area in recent years. Chinese Academic of Sciences, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences were the main publishing institutions. Nutrient elements, changes in soil properties, and the effects on promoting crop growth were the main contents of the research. Still, such issues as bioremediation, soil environment improvement, and crop resistance are becoming hot spots. The field of mineral fertilizers showed a strong interdisciplinary nature and an increasingly comprehensive research perspective. The goal is that this synthesis will be used as a starting point for a broader study on responsible environmental management and research on improving fertilizer use efficiency.

      BACKGROUND: Dry eye is a chronic ocular surface disease caused by the instability of tear film or the imbalance of the ocular surface microenvironment which can lead to a diverse range of ocular discomfort symptoms. At present, the relevant mechanism of autoimmunity and treatment of dry eye is still unclear. Due to the proliferation of research papers in this field, visual analysis of existing papers can provide reference for future research.METHODS: The academic papers of Web of Science were searched with the topics of "autoimmunity" and "dry eye," and the countries, institutions and keywords of the literatures selected in this domain were visualized by Citespace and Vosviewer software.
    RESULTS: A total of 787 valid international papers were detected, and the publication count exhibited a consistent upward trend year by year. Within this field, the US has produced the highest number of papers (363), with Baylor College of Medicine being the most prolific institution (28 publications). High-producing authors in this field include Artemis P. Simopoulos and Stephen C. Pflugfelder.
    CONCLUSION: International research in this field has focused on the pathogenesis, symptoms, and treatment of dry eye. It is predicted that the future international research hotspots will be the pathophysiology of autoimmune dry eye disease, data analysis of artificial intelligence-related diseases, and research on improving patients' quality of life.

      Background: Since the discovery of PCR and ELISA, in vitro research in the realm of molecular biology pertaining to oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has witnessed significant expansion. Objective: to provide a comprehensive overview of molecular biology research on OSCC through visual mapping techniques. Methods: We conducted an analysis of publications within the "oral squamous cell carcinoma" category from Scopus' core collection. On 20 January 2023, we screened these publications using an advanced search employing the keywords "oral squamous cell cancer" and "cell line." Data analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel 2010 and VOSviewer, facilitating the examination of author contributions, journal productivity, institutional affiliations, and contributions by nations. VOSviewer was further utilized for co-occurrence and reference analysis of keywords. Results: A total of 781 papers spanning from 1992 to 2023 were collected. Notably, Japan, China, and the United States emerged as significant contributors in this field. The Osaka University Graduate School of Dentistry (Japan) ranked first with 21 publications. Chae J-I of Chonbuk National University (South Korea) emerged as the most prolific author, with 14 publications. The International Journal of Oncology and the Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine were identified as the two most prolific journals. The central themes that emerged were epidermal growth factor receptor, invasion, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, angiogenesis, apoptosis, and metastasis. Conclusion: The rate of publications focused on the molecular biology of OSCC has seen a remarkable increase. Research priorities have shifted from topics such as "radiation, RANKL, cyclin D1, RNA interference, and matrix metalloproteinase" to encompass areas such as "chemoresistance due to cisplatin, other therapeutic agents (metformin and monoclonal antibody), autophagy, inflammation, microRNA, cancer-associated fibroblasts, and STAT3 (with roles in cell migration and tumorigenesis)." These seven significant future research areas hold promise in identifying reliable biological markers for oral cancer detection and treatment, thereby improving clinical outcomes.

      Background: Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) interventions may prove to be an attractive option for the treatment of depression. The aim of this scientometric analysis is to determine the global scientific output of research regarding managing depression with CAM and identify the hotspots and frontiers within this theme.Methods: Publications regarding the utilization of CAM for treating depression were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection from 1993 to 2022, and analyzed and visualized by Bibliometrix R-package, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace.
    Results: A total of 1,710 publications were acquired. The number of annual publications showed an overall rapid upward trend, with the figure peaking at 179 in 2021. The USA was the leading research center. Totally 2,323 distinct institutions involving 7,638 scholars contributed to the research theme. However, most of the cooperation was limited to within the same country, institution or research team. The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine was the most productive periodical. The CAM therapies of most interest to researchers were acupuncture and body-mind techniques, such as yoga, meditation and mindfulness. Systematic review and meta-analysis are commonly used methods. "Inflammation," "rating scale" and "psychological stress" were identified as the most studied trend topics recently.
    Conclusion: Managing depression with evidence-based CAM treatment is gaining attention globally. Body-mind techniques and acupuncture are growing research hotspots or emerging trending topics. Future studies are predicted to potentially investigate the possible mechanisms of action underlying CAM treatments in reducing depression in terms of modulation of psychological stress and inflammation levels. Cross-countries/institutes/team research collaborations should be encouraged and further enhanced.

      Objective: To analyze recent publications in Ophthalmology, the journal of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.Design: Retrospective review of published articles.
    Participants: No human participants were involved in the study.
    Methods: Articles published in Ophthalmology from January 2018 to December 2022 were reviewed and analyzed.
    Main Outcome Measures: Research and review articles were included and analyzed per the following: total number of published articles based on related subspecialty area, level of evidence using the modified Oxford level of evidence, number of citations, number of listed authors, gender of the corresponding author, country of affiliation of the corresponding and contributing author(s), and involvement of consortium(s), group(s), or committee(s).
    Results: A total of 965 articles were included. The mean (standard deviation) number of authors per article was 8.6 (5.7) and the majority of corresponding authors were male (665, 70.7%). The greatest number of published articles were related to retina (296, 30.7%) followed by glaucoma (172, 17.8%). The greatest number of Preferred Practice Pattern guidelines were also related to retina (7/24, 29.1%), followed by cornea/dry eye syndrome/external disease (6/24, 25%). Retina (77) had the most level 1 evidence, glaucoma (30) for level 2 evidence, and retina for levels 3 (69) and 4 (65). There were 223 articles contributed by consortia/groups/committees, with most from retina (73, 32.7%) followed by glaucoma (40, 17.9%). The mean number of citations per subspecialty article was highest in retina (45.8/article), followed by uveitis (31.7/article). The United States had the greatest number of affiliated corresponding authors (544, 56.4%), followed by the United Kingdom (68, 7.0%). There were 357 (37.0%) articles with coauthors affiliated outside the corresponding author's country of affiliation, although with a downward trend over the most recent 5-year period. There has been an increasing trend in the number of authors and consortia/group/committee involvement in publications.
    Conclusions: Although team science and collaborations have increased recently, ongoing efforts to diversify individuals, groups, and subspecialties may be needed.

      INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study was to analyze the current status, the research hot spots and frontiers of cognitive impairment (CI) on old adults from 2012 to 2022 based on Web of Science (WoS) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) via CiteSpace, and provide new in-sights for researchers.METHODS: The articles regarding the old adults' CI in the WoS and CNKI were retrieved from 2012 to 2022. CiteSpaceV.6.1.R4 was used to generate network maps.
    RESULTS: Four thousand seven hundred thirteen publications and 304 publications from CNKI were retrieved. Overall, from 2012 to 2022, the trend of articles published in WoS and CNKI were increasing. Data from WoS showed that USA, University of California, Petersen RC were the most influential country, institution and author respectively; Folstein MF, Neurology and a diagnosis guideline of mild CI were the most cited author, journal and reference separately; while the keywords of CI could be summarized in 3 aspects: related disease and symptom, risk factors, manifestations. Data from CNKI illustrated that Peking Union Medical College, Dan Liu were the most influential institution and scholar respectively, while the keywords of CI could be summarized in 3 aspects: related disease and symptoms, risk factors, intervention.
    CONCLUSION: Articles published on old adults' CI were drawing an increasing amount of attention from 2012 to 2022 both in WoS and CNKI. Keywords of CI in WoS and CNKI both focused on risk factors, related disease and symptom, yet WoS contributed more to the mechanism and CNKI contributed more to the intervention.

      Authors have a multitude of options for journals for publishing their research. However, their choice is mostly based on academic credits required for promotion, cost of publication, timeliness of process, etc., The purpose of this narrative review is to enlighten the authors about some other journal metrics used to assess journal ranking and quality in international scenario. The main concepts discussed in this paper are the impact factor and cite score. The paper includes an explanation of terms like web of science, journal citation reports, and how they are related to impact factor. This will help the authors to make the right decision about choosing the right journal for publishing their research. Along with the historic concepts we have included the latest updates about changes being made to the journal citation report and impact factor released in 2023 June. Hopefully with the review paper, we will be able to encourage the inclusion of such concepts and curriculum of post-graduation courses considering publishing a paper and choosing a journal are an integral aspect of a researcher's work life.

      Modern science has been transformed by open access (OA) publishing levied a significant economic burden on the authors. This article analyzes the discrepancies among OA publication fees in pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutics. The observations comprise 160 OA journals and their corresponding Q ranking, SJR, H index, impact factor, country, and cost of publication. The OA fees were found to depend on the quality matrices, which was unexpected. Differences in OA fees raise ethical questions as OA fees are meant to cover the publication charges by the publishers or generate more revenues by taking advantage of the authors' temptation to publish in high-impact journals. Despite our findings being based on limited sample size and belonging to a particular field (pharmacy), it will shed considerable light on the issue of discrepancies among APCs charged by OA journals.

      Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly developing field of research that attracts significant funding from both the state and industry players. Such interest is driven by a wide range of AI technology applications in many fields. Since many AI research topics relate to computer science, where a significant share of research results are published in conference proceedings, the same applies to AI. The world leaders in artificial intelligence research are China and the United States. The authors conducted a comparative analysis of the bibliometric indicators of AI conference papers from these two countries based on Scopus data. The analysis aimed to identify conferences that receive above-average citation rates and suggest publication strategies for authors from these countries to participate in conferences that are likely to provide better dissemination of their research results. The results showed that, although Chinese researchers publish more AI papers than those from the United States, US conference papers are cited more frequently. The authors also conducted a correlation analysis of the MNCS index, which revealed no high correlation between MNCS USA vs. MNCS China, MNCS China/MNCS USA vs. MSAR, and MNCS China/MNCS USA vs. CORE ranking indicators.

      Many papers used the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) as the data source. The work by Liu (2019, Scientometrics) revealed that only 48 % of such papers published in information science and library science journals during 2017-2018 specified which sub-datasets they used, and subsequently urged researchers to provide such information together with the corresponding coverage timespans to improve transparency and reproducibility. This work revisited this issue to reveal if the current condition has improved following Liu's recommendations. Using WOSCC, 934 bibliometric open-access papers published during 2020-2022 in non-information science and library science journals were evaluated. Of these 934 papers, 45.0 % specified the sub-datasets of WOSCC they used for data collection, and 4.8 % specified the coverage timespan(s) of corresponding sub-datasets or the overall dataset. There seemed to be no improvement in the specification of data source using WOSCC.

      Introduction: Orthopaedic surgery is one of the least diverse fields in medicine. In recent decades, there has been a concerted effort to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the specialty, in addition to the institution of several organizations to establish the pipeline and facilitate underrepresented minority students into orthopaedic surgery. The aim of this study was to examine trends in orthopaedic surgery DEI research.Methods: A search of DEI articles was conducted in orthopaedic surgery using PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, and Education Resources Information Center. The year of publication, article topic of focus, sex of the primary author, publishing journal, citation index, and primary contributing institution were recorded for each article. Sex of the primary author was predicted by the authors using an online image search of the author and institution. Articles were excluded if the research was conducted outside of the United States or if they were not specific to orthopaedic surgery.
    Results: A total of 143 articles met the inclusion criteria. A total of 52.4% of authors (n = 75) were women and 44.1% (n = 63) were men. A total of 42.7% of the articles were written about sex (n = 61), 39.9% about race/ethnicity and sex (n = 57), and 11.9% about race/ethnicity (n = 17). A total of 10 articles were affiliated with Washington University in St. Louis while 51 other institutions wrote the remaining articles, with none having more than 4. Information could not be confirmed for 5 articles. In 2018, 5 articles were published, followed by 17 in 2019, 25 in 2020, 34 in 2021, and 30 in 2022.
    Conclusion: DEI research in orthopaedic surgery is a relatively new venture within the specialty and has room to grow, specifically in the examination of race/ethnicity and inclusion strategies. Leading journals and academic institutions in orthopaedic surgery should incentivize productivity and authorship in DEI research.

      Background: Reports regarding the antiviral activity of curcumin have surfaced. However, to date there has been no scientometric analysis of the relationship between curcumin and Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). To comprehensively understand the studies involving curcumin in the context of COVID-19, we conducted a scientometric analysis to provide an exhaustive review of these studies.Methods: We systematically searched the Web of Science core collection database for bibliographic data indexed from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2022, using keywords such as 'curcumin', 'COVID-19', and their synonyms. To clarify the research content and trends related to curcumin in COVID-19, we utilized VOSviewer, Origin 2023, and Charticulator for analysis, supplemented by external data.
    Results: The final count of publications included in this study was 252. These publications originated from 63 countries or territories, with India contributing the highest number of publications. They were published across 170 journals. Notably, the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) emerged as the most important institution that carried out this study. The most cited publication had been referenced 166 times. The main elements involved in the keyword analysis were reflected in the antiviral activity of curcumin and the immuno-inflammatory modulation of the inflammatory cytokine storm. Furthermore, the pharmacological mechanisms of curcumin for treating COVID-19 emerged as a prominent area of research. Simultaneously, there exists direct evidence of clinical usage of curcumin to enhance COVID-19 outcomes.
    Conclusions: The scientometric analysis underscores the burgeoning professional domain of curcumin-based treatment for COVID-19. Ongoing studies have focused on the antiviral activity of curcumin and its immunomodulatory effects on inflammatory cytokine storms. On the other hand, the pharmacological mechanism of curcumin in the treatment of COVID-19 is a hot spot in the research field at present, which may become the main research trend in this field in the future. While maintaining a focus on foundational research, the clinical application of curcumin in COVID-19 infection is developing in parallel, highlighting its obvious guiding value in clinical practice. These insights offer researchers a snapshot of the present state of curcumin treatment for COVID-19 and guide further mechanistic validation efforts in the future.

      BACKGROUND: Cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI) is a complex pathophysiological process that typically occurs during the treatment of ischemia, with limited therapeutic options. Autophagy plays a vital role during the reperfusion phase and is a potential therapeutic target for preventing and treating cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.METHODS: We conducted a comprehensive search of the Web of Science Core Collection for publications related to cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury with autophagy, published between January 1, 2008, and January 1, 2023. We analyzed the selected publications using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and other bibliometric tools.
    RESULTS: Our search yielded 877 relevant publications. The field of autophagy in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury has grown rapidly since 2016. China has been the leading contributor to publications, followed by the USA and Iran. Chen Zhong and Qin Zhenghong have been influential in this field but have yet to reach all groups. In addition, there has been a shortage of collaboration among authors from different institutions. Our literature and keyword analysis identified Neurovascular protection (#11 Neuroprotective, #13 Neurovascular units, etc) and Inflammation (NLRP3 inflammasome) as popular research directions. Furthermore, the terms "Blood-Brain Barrier," "Mitophagy," and "Endoplasmic reticulum stress" have been frequently used and may be hot research topics in the future.
    CONCLUSIONS: The role of autophagy in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury remains unclear, and the specific mechanisms of drugs used to treat ischemia-reperfusion injury still need to be explored. This work outlines the changing trends in investigating cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury involving autophagy and suggests future lines of inquiry.

      Metallo-β-lactamase (MBL) is an enzyme produced by clinically important bacteria that can inactivate many commonly used antibiotics, making them a significant concern in treating bacterial infections and the risk of having high antibiotic resistance issues among the community. This review presents a bibliometric and patent analysis of MBL worldwide research trend based on the Scopus and World Intellectual Property Organization databases in 2013-2022. Based on the keywords related to MBL in the article title, abstract, and keywords, 592 research articles were retrieved for further analysis using various tools such as Microsoft Excel to determine the frequency analysis, VOSviewer for bibliometric networks visualization, and Harzing's Publish or Perish for citation metrics analysis. Standard bibliometric parameters were analysed to evaluate the field's research trend, such as the growth of publications, topographical distribution, top subject area, most relevant journal, top cited documents, most relevant authors, and keyword trend analysis. Within 10 years, MBL discovery has shown a steady and continuous growth of interest among the community of researchers. United States of America, China, and the United Kingdom are the top 3 countries contribute high productivity to the field. The patent analysis also shows several impactful filed patents, indicating the significance of development research on the structural and functional relationship of MBL for an effective structure-based drug design (SBDD). Developing new MBL inhibitors using SBDD could help address the research gap and provide new successful therapeutic options for treating MBL-producing bacterial infections.

      Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a devastative disease, the 1st most frequent neurodegenerative disease worldwide. Its prevalence is increasing and early detection methods as well as potential genomic based therapeutics are urgently needed.OBJECTIVES: To better characterize recent seq studies of AD and site recent relevant literature. Using single-cell RNA sequencing, the characteristics of neuronal cell populations in Alzheimer's disease (AD) have not been completely elucidated.
    METHODS: We conducted a dynamic and longitudinal bibliometric analysis to investigate existing studies on Single-cell RNA sequencing analysis and Alzheimer's Disease and identify data gaps and possible new research avenues.
    RESULTS: All AD papers concentrating on Single-cell RNA sequencing analysis were found using the search terms "Alzheimer's Disease", and "Single-cell RNA sequencing analysis" in the PubMed/MEDLINE database. Only English publications published between 2015 and 2023 were chosen using filters.
    CONCLUSIONS: Original English-language research publications disclosing Single-cell RNA sequencing analysis and Alzheimer's Disease were examined for inclusion. Two sets of independent reviewers discovered and extracted pertinent data. The bibliometric study was carried out using the R software packages Bibliometrix and Biblioshiny. The narrowed search yielded 158 publications, all published between 2015 and 2023. Yet, after applying filters and considering the inclusion requirements, the search results comprise just 51 original articles out of 158 articles. There were 107 articles eliminated. The importance of the discovery of Single-cell RNA sequencing analysis and Alzheimer's Disease a decade ago only grows with time. Our results have important implications for future studies of AD and may help researchers across the world better understand the global context of the Single-cell RNA sequencing analysis and Alzheimer's Disease link. This study puts emphasis on the critical need for more diverse participant demographics in Alzheimer's disease investigations.

      Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the most serious types of trauma and imposes a heavy social and economic burden on healthcare systems worldwide. The development of emerging biotechnologies is uncovering the relationship between TBI and gut flora, and gut flora as a potential intervention target is of increasing interest to researchers. Nevertheless, there is a paucity of research employing bibliometric methodologies to scrutinize the interrelation between these two. Therefore, this study visualized the relationship between TBI and gut flora based on bibliometric methods to reveal research trends and hotspots in the field. The ultimate objective is to catalyze progress in the preclinical and clinical evolution of strategies for treating and managing TBI.Methods: Terms related to TBI and gut microbiota were combined to search the Scopus database for relevant documents from inception to February 2023. Visual analysis was performed using CiteSpace and VOSviewer.
    Results: From September 1972 to February 2023, 2,957 documents published from 98 countries or regions were analyzed. The number of published studies on the relationship between TBI and gut flora has risen exponentially, with the United States, China, and the United Kingdom being representative of countries publishing in related fields. Research has formed strong collaborations around highly productive authors, but there is a relative lack of international cooperation. Research in this area is mainly published in high-impact journals in the field of neurology. The "intestinal microbiota and its metabolites," "interventions," "mechanism of action" and "other diseases associated with traumatic brain injury" are the most promising and valuable research sites. Targeting the gut flora to elucidate the mechanisms for the development of the course of TBI and to develop precisely targeted interventions and clinical management of TBI comorbidities are of great significant research direction and of interest to researchers.
    Conclusion: The findings suggest that close attention should be paid to the relationship between gut microbiota and TBI, especially the interaction, potential mechanisms, development of emerging interventions, and treatment of TBI comorbidities. Further investigation is needed to understand the causal relationship between gut flora and TBI and its specific mechanisms, especially the "brain-gut microbial axis."

      Cultural identity is of great significance to the formation of group consensus and the establishment of cultural self-confidence. In order to understand the history, current situation and trend, and provide theoretical support for future research, this paper makes a quantitative analysis of knowledge map including annual publication volume, trend, distribution of authors and institutions, co-occurrence, clustering and timeline of keywords as well as emergent keywords on the literature concerning ethnic cultural identity published in "Web of Science" database for a period from 2012 to 2022, with CiteSpace software as a tool. The results show an overall upward trend with diversified ethnic and regional characteristics; major institutions including universities of the U.S., the U.K., Australia, China and other countries and regions engage in their research from different disciplines such as psychology, sociology, ethnology and education; the researchers have not formed a core group of authors despite their accumulating number; research hotspots are indicated by keywords such as national identity, identity, ethnic identity and attitude; specifically, keyword clusters fall into three categories: emotional perception, multicultural identity process and ethnic cultural adaptability; researchers probe into various issues at different stages with direct relation to international situations and regional cultures. This study has positive implications for understanding and mastering the current research hotspots and development trends of ethnic cultural identity in the world.

      Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has imposed great medical and economic burdens on human society, and nanotechnology is a promising technique for managing the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. To drive further studies on anti-COVID-19 nanotechnology, this paper provides an analysis, from a bibliometric perspective, of the intersection of nanotechnology and SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19.Methods: We analyzed the 2585 publications on nanotechnology and SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 included in the Web of Science Core Collection from January 2019 to March 2022 to determine the bibliometric landscape. The basic bibliometric characteristics are summarized in this article.
    Results: Our bibliometric analysis revealed that the intersection between nanotechnology and SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 is a cutting-edge field in the science community and that the related studies were multidisciplinary in nature. Studies on the structural basis of SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV-2 detection assays, and mRNA vaccines against COVID-19 provided the development foundation for this field.
    Conclusions: The current research focuses are the development of nanomaterial-based vaccines and SARS-CoV-2 detection methods, and the design of nanomedicines carrying SARS-CoV-2 inhibitors is a relatively burgeoning frontier. In summary, this bibliometric analysis of the intersection of nanotechnology and SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 highlights the current research focuses of this field to inspire future studies on anti-COVID-19 nanotechnologies.

      Background: Photobiomodulation (PBM) becomes a remedial technology with growing popularity. The primary goal of this article is to conduct a PBM literature review, providing an overall systematic understanding of current and future trends. Methods: A dataset was made with topic retrieval, concerning PBM research retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. We analyzed to forecast research frontiers in this field using the softwares: VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Biblioshiny. Results: Four thousand five hundred thirty pieces of literature were retrieved from our database. Current trends were characterized by keywords of "light," "spinal cord injury," "skeletal muscle," and so on. Future trends were characterized probably by six cutting-edge terms: "wound healing," "pain," "oral mucositis," "Alzheimer's disease," "Parkinson's disease," and "orthodontics." Conclusions: This study finds that the inadequacy of in-depth reliable interpretation of current clinical data calls for molecular biological mechanisms together with well-designed, large-sample, multicenter clinical trials. The study of oral, wound, and neural-related mechanisms and the exploration of therapeutic effects may be the popular trend at present and in the next few years.

      Recent achievements in reproductive biomedicine have led to a revolution in infertility treatment. A comprehensive understanding of the current status of reproductive medicine is necessary for the development of a forward-looking plan by health policymakers, based on fundamental requirements. This study is a systematic review of the Scopus database to assess reproductive biomedicine publications within Iran and compared to the rest of the world from 1990 to 2020. The data were categorized by geographical distribution across five continents. National data were assessed in comparison with the world and with neighboring countries. Finally, prominent national research institutes in the field of reproductive biomedicine in Iran were identified, and their contributions to the field highlighted. Of the five continents, the highest number of publications and citations is from Europe (36% publications and 41.5% citations). Corresponding numbers for the other continents are 32 and 33% for America, and 26 and 18.4% for Asia respectively. The remaining publications and citations were from Australia (3.8 and 4.1%) and Africa (2.6 and 3.1%). In a national analysis, the highest-ranking institutes in reproductive biomedicine are in Tehran province (50.9% of all Iranian publications), Shiraz (8.8%), Yazd (7.8%), Isfahan (7.1%), and Tabriz (6.9%). More specifically, Tehran University of Medical Science (15.9%), the Royan Institute (12.2%), Shahid Beheshti Medical University (10.1%), Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences (6.9%), and Tarbiat Modares University (6.7%) account for more than 50% of all Iranian scientific publications. In recent decades, reproductive biomedical research has grown significantly in Iran. Reviewing publications in this field helps health policy decision makers to monitor the direction of research and adjust investment in the treatment of infertility. In addition, it is necessary to expand and organize inter-organizational and international collaborations to improve the research, gain the benefits of different experiences, and engage in international multicenter studies.

      Considerable scientific work involves locating, analyzing, systematizing, and synthesizing other publications, often with the help of online scientific publication databases and search engines. However, use of online sources suffers from a lack of repeatability and transparency, as well as from technical restrictions. Alexandria3k is a Python software package and an associated command-line tool that can populate embedded relational databases with slices from the complete set of several open publication metadata sets. These can then be employed for reproducible processing and analysis through versatile and performant queries. We demonstrate the software's utility by visualizing the evolution of publications in diverse scientific fields and relationships among them, by outlining scientometric facts associated with COVID-19 research, and by replicating commonly-used bibliometric measures and findings regarding scientific productivity, impact, and disruption.

      Purpose: Our goals were to characterize associations of author number, author gender, and institutional affiliation on ratings and acceptances of abstracts submitted to one surgical education conference over 5 years.Methods: We retrospectively reviewed all abstracts submitted between 2017 and 2021 to the annual meeting of the Association for Surgical Education (ASE). Abstract data included average rater scores, acceptance status, author lists, and institutional affiliations. We cross-referenced last author affiliation with top-40 National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded institutions and used a gender determination software to code first and last author genders.
    Results: We analyzed 1,162 abstracts. Higher reviewer scores demonstrated positive, weak associations with more authors [r(1160) = 0.191, p < 0.001] and institutions [r(1160) = 0.182, p < 0.001]. Significantly higher scores were noted for abstracts with last authors affiliated with top-40 NIH-funded institutions [4.18 (SD 0.96) vs. 3.72 (SD 1.12), p < 0.001]. Women were first authors (51.8%) (n = 602) and last authors (35.4%) (n = 411) of the time. Abstracts were rated significantly higher with women rather than men as first authors [3.98 (SD 0.99) vs. 3.82 (SD 1.12), p = 0.011] or last [4.01 (SD 1.04) vs. 3.82 (SD 1.10), p = 0.005]. Across all years, abstracts were accepted more often as podium or plenary presentations when submitted by women first [n = 279, 59.7% (p = 0.002)] or last [n = 183, 38.4% (p = 0.095)] authors.
    Conclusion: Abstracts whose last authors were affiliated with top-40 NIH-funded institutions received significantly higher scores, possibly indicating increased tangible or intangible resources contributing to research efforts. Abstracts with women first and last authors scored higher and were more frequently invited for plenary and podium presentations.

      Frailty and sarcopenia are age-related diseases, and exhibit a concomitant relationship, as they share many common clinical features and etiological factors. Transitions within frailty status would be influenced by the presence of sarcopenia. Investigating their association to devise efficacious intervention and management strategies for geriatric patients is imperative, given their potentially unfavorable outcomes. In this study, the literature on sarcopenia and frailty was screened in the Web of Science core collection database over the past 30 years to ascertain the link between them through bibliometric analysis and the exploration of disease-related molecular pathways within the GeneCards and OMIM databases was conducted. Per inclusion and exclusion criteria, 3889 literature sources were selected for subsequent analysis. Keywords, including "cirrhosis" and "postoperative complications," represent the current and potential future research trends and focal points in this field. Moreover, 63 common potential targets between the two diseases were identified. Their pathogenesis involved cellular aging and endocrine metabolism regulation pathways, including AMPK, cell senescence, and the endocrine resistance pathway. This study identified an intimate correlation between frailty and sarcopenia in pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment measures, establishing a foundation for exploring shared prevention and treatment strategies for these two disorders.

      Objective: Diversity is recognized as a driver of excellence and innovation. Women represent a significant part of the infectious diseases (ID) and hospital epidemiology (HE) workforce. We aimed to assess gender representation among editors of top ID and HE journals and explore potential correlations with the gender of first and last authors in published articles.Methods: Using Scimago Journal & Country Rank, we identified 40 ID and 4 HE high-ranking journals. Editorial members were categorized by decision-making influence (levels I-III). We retrieved names of first and corresponding authors from 12 ID-focused journals' 2019 research articles. Gender assignment for editors, first authors, and last authors utilized digital galleries and manual searches.
    Results: Among 2,797 editors from 44 journals, 33% were women. Female representation varied across editorial levels: 26% at level I, 36% at level II, and 31% at level III. Gender balance disparities existed among journals. Female first authors accounted for 50%, and female last authors accounted for 36% of the 2,725 published articles. We found weak but significant correlations between the editors' gender and the gender of the first and last authors.
    Conclusion: Gender representation among ID and HE journal editors displayed unevenness, but no overt vertical segregation was observed. A generational transition among authors may be underway. Our findings suggest that a generational transition may be occurring among authors.

      Introduction Academic departments need to monitor their faculty's academic productivity for various purposes, such as reporting to the medical school dean, assessing the allocation of non-clinical research time, evaluating for rank promotion, and reporting to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Our objective was to develop and validate a simple method that automatically generates query strings to identify and process distinct department faculty publications listed in PubMed and Scopus. Methods We created a macro-enabled Excel workbook (Microsoft, Redmond, WA) to automate the retrieval of faculty publications from the PubMed and Scopus bibliometric databases (available at https://bit.ly/get-pubs). Where the returned reference includes the digital object identifier (doi), a link is provided in the workbook. Duplicate publications are removed automatically, and false attributions are managed. Results At the University of Miami, between 2020 and 2021, there were 143 anesthesiology faculty-authored publications with a PubMed identifier (PMID), 95.8% identified by the query and 4.2% missed. At Vanderbilt University Medical Center, between 2019 and 2021, there were 760 anesthesiology faculty-authored publications with a PMID, 94.3% identified by the query and 5.7% missed. Recall, precision, and the F1 score were all above 93% at both medical centers. Conclusions We developed a highly accurate, simple, transportable, scalable method to identify publications in PubMed and Scopus authored by anesthesiology faculty. Manual checking and faculty feedback are required because not all names can be disambiguated, and some references are missed. This process can greatly reduce the burden of curating a list of faculty publications. The methodology applies to other academic departments that track faculty publications.

      The ever-increasing concern for energy shortages and greenhouse effect has triggered the development of sustainable green technologies. Microalgae have received more attention due to the characteristics of biofuel production and CO2 fixation. From the perspective of autotrophic growth, the optimization of light quality has the potential to promote biomass production and bio-component accumulation in microalgae at low cost. In this study, bibliometric analysis was used to describe the basic features, identify the hotspots, and predict future trends of the research related to the light quality on microalgae cultivation. In addition, a mini-review referring to regulation methods of light quality was provided to optimize the framework of research. Results demonstrated that China has the greatest interest in this area. The destination of most research was to obtain biofuels and high-value-added products. Both blue and red lights were identified as the crucial spectrums for microalgae cultivation. However, sunlight is the most affordable light resource, which could not be fully utilized by microalgae through the photosynthetic process. Hence, some regulation approaches (e.g., dyes, plasmonic scattering, and carbon-based quantum dots) are proposed to increase the proportion of beneficial spectrum for enhancement of photosynthetic efficiency. In summary, this review introduces state-of-the-art research and provides theoretical guidance for light quality optimization in microalgae cultivation to obtain more benefits.

      Scavenger Receptor Class B Type 1 (SR-B1), a receptor protein expressed on the cell membrane, plays a crucial role in the metabolism and transport of cholesterol and other lipids, contributing significantly to the homeostasis of lipid levels within the body. Bibliometric analysis involves the application of mathematical and statistical methods to quantitatively analyze different types of documents. It involves the analysis of structural and temporal trends in scholarly articles, coupled with the identification of subject emphasis and variations. Through a bibliometric analysis, this study examines the historical background, current research trends, and future directions in the exploration of SR-B1. By offering insights into the research status and development of SR-B1, this paper aims to assist researchers in identifying novel pathways and areas of investigation in this field of study. Following the screening process, it can be concluded that research on SR-B1 has consistently remained a topic of significant interest over the past 17 years. Interestingly, SR-B1 has recently garnered attention in areas beyond its traditional research focus, including the field of cancer. The primary objective of this review is to provide a concise and accessible overview of the development process of SR-B1 that can help readers who are not well-versed in SR-B1 research quickly grasp its key aspects.       Background: The growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, particularly radiology, requires its unbiased and fair development and implementation, starting with the constitution of the scientific community.Purpose: To examine the gender and country distribution among academic editors in leading computer science and AI journals.
    Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study analyzed the gender and country distribution among editors-in-chief, senior, and associate editors in all 75 Q1 computer science and AI journals in the Clarivate Journal Citations Report and SCImago Journal Ranking 2022. Gender was determined using an open-source algorithm (Gender Guesser™), selecting the gender with the highest calibrated probability.
    Result: Among 4,948 editorial board members, women were underrepresented in all positions (editors-in-chief/senior editors/associate editors: 14%/18%/17%). The proportion of women correlated positively with the SCImago Journal Rank indicator (ρ = 0.329; p = .004). The U.S., the U.K., and China comprised 50% of editors, while Australia, Finland, Estonia, Denmark, the Netherlands, the U.K., Switzerland, and Slovenia had the highest women editor representation per million women population.
    Conclusion: Our results highlight gender and geographic disparities on leading computer science and AI journal editorial boards, with women being underrepresented in all positions and a disproportional relationship between the Global North and South.

      OBJECTIVES: Traditional journal clubs have been shown to be insufficient in improving residents' scholarly productivity, often due to the inability to sustain residents' interest and participation. Additionally, the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic restrictions caused a decline in academic scholarly productivity across residency programs. We evaluated the impact of a resident-led research club called 'journal café' on residents' scholarly productivity by comparing scholarly output between the journal café members and non-members during the COVID-19 pandemic.METHODS: The journal café was established in the 2012/2013 academic year by internal medicine residents of a university residency program in Atlanta, Georgia, to foster self-directed collaboration among residents based on shared interests in academic research. The journal café runs independently of the residency program's journal club. We categorized IM residents at our institution into journal café members and non-members and collected data on their research productivity during residency training and the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey was conducted between April and June 2021 and analyzed data presented using frequencies, tables, and appropriate charts.
    RESULTS: Sixty-eight residents (29 journal café members and 39 non-members) completed the survey (response rate of 85%). A significantly higher number of journal café members reported having five or more research publications (55.1% vs 7.1%, P < .001) and scientific presentations (48.3% vs 2.6%, P < .001) compared with non-members. Additionally, more journal café members published COVID-19-related research in peer-reviewed journals compared with non-members (68% vs 32%, n  =  19). Finally, most of the residents cited the opportunity of a platform to share and brainstorm on research ideas as the reason for joining the journal café.
    CONCLUSION: We found an association between journal café participation and increased scholarly activity, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Independent resident-led research clubs supported by the residency program may complement the traditional journal clubs and enhance residents' participation in research.

      Introduction: Scientific research has a direct, profound impact on healthcare systems worldwide. While an upward trend can be observed in the number of produced papers in the neurosurgical specialty, disparities still exist between African neurosurgeons on one side and between African neurosurgeons and neurosurgeons from high income countries, on the other.Research question: This study aims to analyze neurosurgical research produced in Africa to identify gaps in the literature and provide recommendations for aspiring African neurosurgeons for essential research areas.
    Materials and methods: Four electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Embase) were systematically searched for relevant articles on neurosurgery published by African authors. The three main inclusion criteria were: Articles published in the Neurosurgical field, articles published by African authors (whether first authors or co-authors) and articles published in Africa. Data extracted included the study design, scope, neurosurgical subspecialty, and the authors' nationalities.
    Results: A total of 982 articles were included in the analysis. Of these articles, 889 (90.6%) were primary, 48 (4.9%) secondary, and 44 (4.5%) other types of research. Global Neurosurgery papers represent 7% of African neurosurgery research output. Most common primary studies included retrospective cohort (32.4%), case reports (28.3%), and prospective cohort (13.8%) studies. The most common secondary research articles were literature reviews (4.9%), letters to the editor (1.2%), and systematic reviews and meta-analyses (0.8%). Common research areas were neuro-oncology 242 (24.7%), spinal surgery 157 (16%), and cerebrovascular (14%). The most common nationalities of the first authors were Egyptian (32.4%), Moroccan (15%), and Nigerian (14.2%).
    Discussion and conclusion: This study identifies increased African authorship in neurosurgical research in recent years. Nevertheless, many countries still lack representation in the neurosurgical research scene.Furthermore, a high percentage of the published papers is of low evidence. Therefore, we recommend that African neurosurgical researchers focus more on clinical trials and systematic reviews that directly translate to improving clinical practice. African neurosurgeons should also consider more collaboration between African authors.

      This study revealed the distributional features of literature citation and writer identity in linguistic academic discourse, and further explored how writer identity is constructed through literature citation. Based on Petrić's citation typology and Ivanič's writer identity framework, the study investigated various types of citations and identities in thirty journal articles published in the Journal of English for Academic Purposes from 2017 to 2021. The results showed that there are a total of 1637 citation instances, among which the dominant type is attribution citation (36.59 %). Besides, the study revealed that 80.45 % of the total citations construct discoursal self only and 19.55 % reveal both discoursal self and authorial self. In terms of discoursal self, writers present themselves as a member of academic community, a contributor to a field of knowledge, a knowledgeable and professional scholar, and a reliable and credible writer. As for authorial self, they would like to position themselves to be a writer with authority and an evaluator. It is expected that the current study can help novice writers use citations strategically and establish their desired identity accordingly.

      OBJECTIVE: Systematic reviews (SRs) are becoming essential evidence in the decision-making process within the field of social sciences. This study aimed to investigate how Campbell SRs were cited and explore their specific application roles.STUDY DESIGN AND SETTING: We included Campbell SRs published between 2016 and 2020 by searching the Wiley online library, and retrieved the articles and documents citing Campbell SRs from the Web of Science and Google Scholar by December 31, 2021. We described the characteristics of the SRs and citations, and formulated a set of application roles by analyzing the sentences or paragraphs where the SRs were cited.
    RESULTS: Sixty-nine Campbell SRs were published between 2016 and 2020; they were cited in 641 articles or documents a total of 1289 times. The primary types of articles that cited Campbell SRs were cross-sectional studies (n=226, 35.3%), SRs (n=112, 17.5%), randomized controlled trials (n=77, 12.0%), and policy reports (n=57, 8.8%). Articles utilizing Campbell SRs were predominantly led by authors from the United States (n=184, 28.7%), the United Kingdom (n=98, 15.3%), and Australia (n=51, 8.0%). We formulated a set of 10 application roles for the Campbell SRs, of which the most frequent were: describing the current status in the field of interest (n=691, 53.6%), corroboration of the results (n=140, 10.9%), identifying research gaps (n=130, 10.1%), and providing methodological references (n=126, 9.8%); the role of supporting policy recommendations or decisions accounted for 6.0% (n=77) of the citations. Approximately 12% of Campbell SRs were used to support policy recommendations or decisions.
    CONCLUSION: Campbell SRs are widely applied, particularly in scientific research, to describe the current status in the field of interest. Although the current application of Campbell SRs in supporting policy recommendations and decisions may not be predominant, there is a growing recognition of their value in using Campbell SRs to inform decision-making.

      OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the relationships between Doximity rankings (Doximity, Inc.) of residency programs and two new ranking systems based on publication rates and academic pursuits.METHODS: We collected data on 550 neurosurgery graduates over 3 years. We analyzed the median number of published manuscripts per resident and the percentage of residents pursuing academic careers and compared them across the Doximity Research Productivity and Reputation Rankings. We used logistic regression to evaluate the relationships among the rankings, publication rates, and academic pursuits.
    RESULTS: Neurosurgery residents published a median of 10 manuscripts per person (IQR: 6-17), and 50% (IQR: 33%-67%) of residents in a given program pursued an academic career. The distributions of the median number of published manuscripts across the Doximity Research Productivity Ranking and the Doximity Reputation Ranking tiers differed significantly (all p < 0.001). Similarly, the distribution of the percentage of residents pursuing an academic career across both published Doximity ranking systems' tiers differed significantly (all p = 0.02). Moreover, we found moderate agreement between the two Doximity rankings, fair agreement between the publication and the other three rankings, and slight agreement between the academic pursuit and the Doximity rankings.
    CONCLUSIONS: We introduced two new methods to rank residency programs based on the number of graduates pursuing an academic position and the median number of published manuscripts per resident. By taking a comprehensive approach, neurosurgery applicants can ensure that they select a residency program that meets their needs and offers them the best opportunity for success.

      Electronic health records (EHRs) constitute vital statistics, current health condition, ongoing therapies, and patient data; hence, their interoperability could be useful for epidemiologic and clinical research. Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) and blockchain are currently "in-use" and tested for exchange of such data. The annual scientific production of publications for both FHIR and blockchain shows steady growth. The data interoperability and electronic data interchange have been introduced in the field of EHR in 2020, hence inferring that data interoperability is relatively a new domain. The thematic mapping suggested "interoperability" of EHR is well-developed and important for the structure of the research field.

      Dromedary camels are the preferable livestock species in the arid and semi-arid regions of the world. Most of the world's camel populations are managed under a subsistence/extensive system maintained by migratory pastoralists but intensification is getting more frequent. Even though recently the welfare of camels has been receiving more attention, in many countries there are no regulations to protect their health and welfare. The objectives of this article were to explore the main research topics related to camel welfare, their distribution over time and to highlight research gaps. A literature search was performed to identify records published in English from January 1980 to March 2023 on Dromedary camel welfare via Scopus®, using "Camel welfare," "Camel behaviour," "She-camel" and "Camel management" as search words. A total of 234 records were retained for analysis after automatic and manual screening procedures. Descriptive statistics, text mining (TM) and topic analysis (TA) were performed. The result shows that even though there were fluctuations between years, records on camel welfare have increased exponentially over time. Asia was the region where most of the corresponding authors were located. The first five most frequent words were, "milk," "calv," "behaviour," "femal," and "breed," the least frequent word was "stabl." TA resulted in the five most relevant topics dealing with "Calf management and milk production," "Camel health and management system," "Female and male reproduction," "Camel behaviour and feeding," and "Camel welfare." The topics that contained the oldest records were "female and male reproduction" and "camel health and management system" (in 1980 and 1983, respectively), while the topic named "camel behaviour and feeding" had the first article published in 2000. Overall, even though topics related to camel behaviour and welfare are receiving more attention from academia, research is still needed to fully understand how to safeguard welfare in Dromedary camels.

The fellowship directors (FD) that lead these programs have been selected for their abilities. As programs do research to ensure proper training for the next generation of breast surgical oncologists, we wanted to look into the FDs responsible for their training.Methods: The Breast Surgical Oncology care program list was compiled via the Society of Surgical Oncology and American Society of Breast Surgeons Accredited programs (n = 60). The demographic information that was of interest included, but was not limited to, gender, age, ethnicity/background, past residency training, past fellowship training, year graduated from residency and fellowship, year since graduation to FD appointment, time at institution till FD appointment, and Hirsch index (h-index).
    Results: Data were collected on all 60 FDs. The average age of FDs was 52 years old, 27% of FDs are men and 73% of FDs are women. The average H-index, number of publications, and number of citations were 19, 67, and 2648, respectively. The mean graduation year from residency was 2003, and from fellowship was 2006; with a mean of 9 years post fellowship graduation until becoming an FD. The most frequently attended residency was Rush (n = 4), and the most common fellowships were Memorial Sloan Kettering (n = 8), MD Anderson Cancer Center (n = 7), and John Wayne Cancer Institute (n = 4). Nine of the FDs stayed at the same institution after doing both residency and fellowship there (15%).
    Conclusion: This is the first study to examine the demographics of those in FD positions in Surgical Breast Oncology, which is a relatively young fellowship. We found that FDs in Breast Surgical Oncology are defined by their high output of research. This qualification may be why the average age, and the number of years to FD are higher compared to other specialties where this research has been undertaken. Initial evaluation of FDs suggest more diversity in this field is needed. Further insight into the leaders training our next generation of surgeons is warranted.

      Improving the tolerance of crop species to abiotic stresses that limit plant growth and productivity is essential for mitigating the emerging problems of global warming. In this context, imaged data analysis represents an effective method in the 4.0 technology era, where this method has the non-destructive and recursive characterization of plant phenotypic traits as selection criteria. So, the plant breeders are helped in the development of adapted and climate-resilient crop varieties. Although image-based phenotyping has recently resulted in remarkable improvements for identifying the crop status under a range of growing conditions, the topic of its application for assessing the plant behavioral responses to abiotic stressors has not yet been extensively reviewed. For such a purpose, bibliometric analysis is an ideal analytical concept to analyze the evolution and interplay of image-based phenotyping to abiotic stresses by objectively reviewing the literature in light of existing database. Bibliometricy, a bibliometric analysis was applied using a systematic methodology which involved data mining, mining data improvement and analysis, and manuscript construction. The obtained results indicate that there are 554 documents related to image-based phenotyping to abiotic stress until 5 January 2023. All document showed the future development trends of image-based phenotyping will be mainly centered in the United States, European continent and China. The keywords analysis major focus to the application of 4.0 technology and machine learning in plant breeding, especially to create the tolerant variety under abiotic stresses. Drought and saline become an abiotic stress often using image-based phenotyping. Besides that, the rice, wheat and maize as the main commodities in this topic. In conclusion, the present work provides information on resolutive interactions in developing image-based phenotyping to abiotic stress, especially optimizing high-throughput sensors in image-based phenotyping for the future development.

      Background and objective More than half of the population suffering from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) use the internet as a primary source of information on their condition. X (formerly Twitter) has been increasingly used to disseminate healthcare-related information. In this study, we aimed to identify top influencers on the topic of IBD on X and correlate the relevance of their social media engagements with their professional expertise or academic productivity. Methods X (formerly Twitter) influence scores for the search topic IBD were obtained using Cronycle API, a proprietary software employing multiple algorithms to rank influencers. Data regarding gender, profession, location, and research productivity represented as h-index was collected. Results We collected information on the top 100 IBD influencers on X. The majority of influencers were gastroenterologists, followed by IBD advocates. Of note, 62% of the IBD influencers were from the US followed by the UK and Canada. A positive correlation was observed between the X topic score and the h-index of the influencer (r=+0.488, p<0.001) Conclusions The strong correlation observed between the X topic score and h-index suggests that social media is a viable platform for gaining information regarding IBD. Further research aimed at counteracting misleading information by providing facts and data in a succinct manner about IBD on social media is required to improve disease awareness.

      Objective: The goal of this article was to describe trends in publications (including conference abstracts) and clinical trials that report on glycemic time in range (TIR).Data sources: Reviewed databases included but were not limited to MEDLINE and Embase. Clinical trial registries were also sourced.
    Study selection: All studies reporting TIR published between 2010 and 2021 were included. Clinical trials reporting TIR that started in or after 2010 were also included. Non-English publications, abstracts, and clinical trials were excluded. Book chapters, nonhuman studies, and studies not reporting TIR were excluded.
    Data extraction: Manuscript/abstract category, publication year, study region, interventional versus observational role of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), and clinical trial start and completion dates were captured. Glycemic outcomes reported in publications or trials, including TIR as a primary outcome, A1C, time below range (TBR), and time above range (TAR), were also captured.
    Results: A total of 373 clinical trials, 531 publications, and 620 abstracts were included in the review. The number of trials, publications, and abstracts reporting TIR significantly increased, particularly between 2018 and 2021, during which time the number of clinical trials, publications, and conference abstracts reporting TIR increased by 6-fold, 12-fold, and 4.5-fold, respectively. About 35-44% of studies reported TIR as a primary outcome. Approximately 54% of clinical trials, 47% of publications, and 47% of conference abstracts reported the role of CGM to be observational. TBR was reported more often than TAR.
    Conclusion: The marked increase in the number of trials, publications, and abstracts reporting TIR highlights the increasing significance and acceptance of TIR as an outcome measure in diabetes management.

      The identification of key concepts within unstructured data is of paramount importance in practical applications. Despite the abundance of proposed methods for extracting primary topics, only a few works investigated the influence of text length on the performance of keyword extraction (KE) methods. Specifically, many studies lean on abstracts and titles for content extraction from papers, leaving it uncertain whether leveraging the complete content of papers can yield consistent results. Hence, in this study, we employ a network-based approach to evaluate the concordance between keywords extracted from abstracts and those from the entire papers. Community detection methods are utilized to identify interconnected papers in citation networks. Subsequently, paper clusters are formed to identify salient terms within each cluster, employing a methodology akin to the term frequency-inverse document frequency (tf-idf) approach. Once each cluster has been endowed with its distinctive set of key terms, these selected terms are employed to serve as representative keywords at the paper level. The top-ranked words at the cluster level, which also appear in the abstract, are chosen as keywords for the paper. Our findings indicate that although various community detection methods used in KE yield similar levels of accuracy. Notably, text clustering approaches outperform all citation-based methods, while all approaches yield relatively low accuracy values. We also identified a lack of concordance between keywords extracted from the abstracts and those extracted from the corresponding full-text source. Considering that citations and text clustering yield distinct outcomes, combining them in hybrid approaches could offer improved performance.

      Multiple studies have investigated bibliometric features and uncategorized scholarly documents for the influential scholarly document prediction task. In this paper, we describe our work that attempts to go beyond bibliometric metadata to predict influential scholarly documents. Furthermore, this work also examines the influential scholarly document prediction task over categorized scholarly documents. We also introduce a new approach to enhance the document representation method with a domain-independent knowledge graph to find the influential scholarly document using categorized scholarly content. As the input collection, we use the WHO corpus with scholarly documents on the theme of COVID-19. This study examines different document representation methods for machine learning, including TF-IDF, BOW, and embedding-based language models (BERT). The TF-IDF document representation method works better than others. From various machine learning methods tested, logistic regression outperformed the other for scholarly document category classification, and the random forest algorithm obtained the best results for influential scholarly document prediction, with the help of a domain-independent knowledge graph, specifically DBpedia, to enhance the document representation method for predicting influential scholarly documents with categorical scholarly content. In this case, our study combines state-of-the-art machine learning methods with the BOW document representation method. We also enhance the BOW document representation with the direct type (RDF type) and unqualified relation from DBpedia. From this experiment, we did not find any impact of the enhanced document representation for the scholarly document category classification. We found an effect in the influential scholarly document prediction with categorical data.

      How many researchers does it take to publish an article in top journals in neuroscience and psychology? Manually coding 42,580 articles spanning 1879-2021 from 32 journals, we examined the evolution of authorship size and its rate of change. Moreover, we assessed the driving forces behind these changes. We found that, starting from the 1950s but not earlier, the average authorship size per article in neuroscience and psychology has increased exponentially, growing by 50% and 31% over the last decade and reaching a record high of 10.4 and 4.8 authors in 2021, respectively. Single-authored articles have become a rarity today, particularly in primary research articles: 1.7% in neuroscience and 2.2% in psychology in 2019-2021 (vs. 5.7% and 11.2% in review articles). With the withering of sole authors rises a new type of authorship, group authors (e.g., a consortium). Group authorship was rare before 2000, but in 2019-2021, it appeared in 4.1% of articles in neuroscience, mostly in genetics, neuroimaging, and disease-outnumbering single-authored articles for the first time-and 0.7% in psychology, mostly in developmental and clinical research. The exponential inflation in authorship size could not be attributed to behaviors of professional editors in profit-oriented journals but aligns with a hybrid epistemic-behavioral-cultural account-an account that integrates multidimensional factors, including increased research complexity, the benefits of collaboration, the rise of government-funded research, changing norms in authorship practices, and biased incentives in evaluation. These findings suggest troubling implications for research reproducibility, innovations, equity/diversity, and ethics, calling for policy deliberations to address potential negative ramifications.       In many areas of medicine, gender equality has not yet been fully adopted despite recent developments. The inequality of gender in various areas of medicine is still debated. In this study, we analyzed the gender composition of the editorial boards of toxicology journals in the Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-E) databases and the factors affecting this composition. The genders of the participants were determined by the data obtained from the official websites of the journals in September 2023. We analyzed the journal metrics and publisher properties using Mann-Whitney U, Fisher exact, Chi-square tests, and Spearman correlation coefficient. We used Logistic regression analysis to reveal the independent factors related to gender parity. The representation rates of women were 28.62% on all editorial boards and 23.33% in editor-in-chief positions. The "Neuroscience"(OR, 2.46 95%CI, 1.68-3.60, p<0.001), "Reproductive Biology"(OR, 2.05 95%CI, 1.22-3.42, p=0.006) and "Public, Environmental & Occupational Health"(OR, 1.49 95%CI, 1.18-1.88, p=0.001) as a coverage category, USA as a journal country (OR, 1.21, 95%CI, 1.04-1.40, p=0.001), 5-year-IF≥3.6(OR, 1.54, 95%CI, 1.27-1.86, p<0.001), 5-year H index≥29 (OR, 1.23, 95%CI, 1.01-1.49, p=0.037) were the independent factors for gender parity. However, "Oncology"(OR, 0.08 95%CI, 0.01-0.55, p=0.011), "Biochemistry, Molecular Biology" (OR, 0.62 95%CI, 0.44-0.86, p=0.005), "Pharmacology & Pharmacy" (OR, 0.69 95%CI, 0.59-0.82, p<0.001) as a coverage category, Japan as a publisher country (OR, 0.52 95%CI, 0.35-0.77, p=0.001), and Switzerland as a journal country (OR, 0.61, 95%CI, 0.46-0.81, p=0.001) were related to gender disparity. Greater endeavors are needed to reduce gender discrimination in toxicology. Toxicology authorities should continuously improve existing policies by optimizing the analysis of objective information to eliminate barriers for toxicologists in terms of gender equality.
